While St. Patrick's Day sees a surge in beer sales across U.S. bars, McDonald's offers a festive, non-alcoholic treat in the form of the Shamrock Shake. This minty, vanilla milkshake topped with whipped cream is a holiday favorite, and McDonald's brings it back annually—2025 being no exception. This year, the fast-food chain is adding a charitable twist to the limited-edition shake.
Tasting Table notes that 2024 marked the 50th anniversary of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which provides accommodation for families with sick children seeking medical treatment. The 'Gift to RMHC' program lets customers donate to the cause in various ways, including adding a contribution to their orders. For 2025, McDonald's will donate $0.25 for every Shamrock Shake sold, with the aim to raise $5 million, enough to fund 50,000 overnight stays for families.
This St. Patrick's Day, McDonald’s beloved mascot Grimace and his Irish counterpart, Uncle O’Grimacey, are reuniting. If you’re into exclusive merchandise, you can visit Golden Arches Unlimited to grab O’Grimacey-themed gear, with a portion of every purchase going to support the RMHC campaign.
This promotion runs from Monday, February 10 to Sunday, March 23. Keep in mind that not every McDonald's location participates in Shamrock Shake season, so it's a good idea to call ahead or check via the McDonald's app to make sure you can grab the green drink. Once March is over, you can still support the cause by donating directly through the RMHC website.
