Although we’re still months away from Pantone’s big reveal for next year’s color of the year (usually announced in December), Glidden, a paint brand, has already shared its pick for the season.
According to Architectural Digest, Glidden’s 2022 color of the year is a deliciously unexpected dip: guacamole. Green hues have recently become a trend in interior design, with a remarkable 200 percent surge in online searches for green paint since 2020. A Harris Poll with 2044 respondents showed that 62 percent of people are open to using green tones on their walls.
The choice of guacamole as the top color over other green shades was made by a panel of over 30 color experts. They looked beyond interior design to identify emerging trends that could inspire homeowners. While the thought of guacamole on your walls might not be the first thing that comes to mind, its popularity as a snack speaks to its natural, mild, yet festive qualities, which could make it a perfect fit for your home decor.
It definitely makes you hungry, doesn’t it? | Business WireKim Perry from Glidden shared in the press release, “We’ve all saved stunning green kitchens and nature-inspired bedrooms on our Pinterest and TikTok feeds over the past year and a half, driven by our need for calm, renewal, and growth after enduring these ‘unprecedented times.’ Now, with some hard work and Glidden paint, DIY enthusiasts and procrastipainters alike can turn their social media inspirations into real life, and perhaps look forward to some ‘precedented’ times ahead.”
If guacamole feels too on-trend for your liking, you can always explore other unique hues like lusty gallant, bastard-amber, or any of these other uncommon colors.
