1. Poem: Ca ba - Hoang Minh Tuan
Ca ba
Poem by: Hoang Minh Tuan
On my first night working the ca ba shift,
Though tired from staying up all night,
I feel joy surging within me,
What power brought me to this shift!
The night is cold, the dew touches my skin,
On the narrow road, I walk alone,
The wind gently shakes the falling leaves,
I head back, towards the ca ba shift!
The machine hums like a love song,
It leads the shift into the rhythm of life,
As a student living off scholarships,
Saving as much as I can from what little I have!
Ca ba, I love you for this,
Ca ba, I’ve come to understand you,
Beyond the products I create here,
There’s extra cash I bring home each night!
Let them laugh, criticize, or complain,
Let them say the ca ba shift is tough,
Let them fear the sleepless nights,
I will forever walk this ca ba path!
Each night I clock in, adding another task,
And by the end of the week, I have some extra,
Where does all the money go each month,
Let’s go, my friend! What’s a little fatigue!
The night ends, the tiredness fades away,
By day I spend freely on market goods,
Vegetables, fruits, beer, and meat from the market,
All bought to enjoy before the shift begins!
If I get sick, tired, and rest,
The money I’ve earned buys me medicine,
Come with me, let’s head to the ca ba shift,
If you run out of money, just remember the ca ba!
Oh ca ba... you fill my heart with joy...!

2. Poem: Echoes of June - Thanh Trang
Echoes of June
Poem by: Thanh Trang
As July arrives, a yellow leaf falls,
Red eyes quickly say their farewell,
Looking at June, my heart remains undecided...
The tight grasp of a hand, feeling endless.
Remembering the days we carried books together,
At the old school, in a small district center,
Gathering together, laughing like the breeze,
But now, that place is no longer the same...
Remembering the cicadas, remembering the red Phoenix flower eyes,
Remembering the sunlight seeping into the classrooms,
Remembering the lessons our teacher carefully tended,
Remembering the tear drops rolling gently down my friend's hair.
Where is it now, when the time comes to reunite?
The old house is no longer as it was,
Looking at June, my eyes grow tired with the sight,
July brings sorrow, tears filling my soul.
Sending off the exam season, my shoulders heavy with countless burdens,
Echoing the passing June in the melody of the years,
Chalk dust falls, nestling beside the corner of the board,
Our student days like a streak of light in the distant sky...

3. Poem: Four Seasons of Love - Giọt Mưa Thu
Four Seasons of Love
Poem by: Giọt Mưa Thu
Who says I lead the way?
To hasten the arrival of summer.
Who says I am full of passion?
To give a kiss so sweet.
What wind came unexpectedly?
Caressing your lovely shoulder.
The moonlight reveals love’s secret.
As you wait in quiet anticipation.
I will always be your confidant.
Singing to your dreams of love.
The willow tree sways by the threshold.
As we wait for the rain to come.
Who says I am foolish?
To be lost in love’s domain.
The sunset fades at the close of day.
Making my heart flutter with emotion.
Who says I know the story?
That makes you remember forever.
This love, vivid and unchanging.
Throughout all four seasons...!!!

4. Poem: Dreams of Youth - Nguyễn Cao Quốc Hùng
Dreams of Youth
Poem by: Nguyễn Cao Quốc Hùng
Love like a storm rising deep inside
Life continues, a journey of constant strife
Loneliness and darkness fill my soul with cold
Eyes filled with sorrow, memories of days of old
My heart yearns for the light of dawn
The hardships of life, a place I don’t belong
The scent of home, but a love left behind
Winds of destiny, taking me far from mine
My youth carries within it all my dreams
Thoughts so naive, or so it seems
Alone, I wait for my chance to appear
With open arms, I embrace freedom near
Remember this, never forget the heart’s true role
Love is priceless, the most valuable goal
Even if it takes sacrifice beyond measure
My resolve stays strong, without rushing for treasure
Though life is full of bitter trials
Let us not wish for luck’s false smiles
A heart open wide, learning every day
Thinking deeply, answering the teacher’s way
The road to glory, success, or loss
In poverty, righteousness is what we must emboss
Deciding not to deceive or beg
Wealth and fame won’t cloud my head

5. Poem: A Time Like That - Hồ Viết Bình
A Time Like That
Poem by: Hồ Viết Bình
There was a time, so beautiful, in my twenties
Dreams soaring high, reaching for the stars
Pulling the moon down to visit the lunar sister
And calling the wise Cuội to be my playmate.
There was a romantic time, in my twenties
Hastily picking a fresh flower
To gift someone passing by the alley
Then longing for them through the silent night.
Majestic were the days of my twenties
Not fearing waves, storms, or deep seas
Guarding the border day and night
Dreaming still of building a warm home.
There was a passionate time, in my twenties
A smile that never left my lips
Wherever hardship lay, I was there
Bringing joy to everyone I met.

6. Poem: Song of Youth - Phạm Tiến Duật
Song of Youth
Poem by: Phạm Tiến Duật
There will come a time when we grow old
But until then, enjoy the youth we still hold
It’s easy to mimic the old, but when we are old,
It’s hard to wish to be young once more.
When young, the ocean is within reach,
But when old, even a pond is far to reach.
With youth, no night is ever too dark
Rain becomes our friend, and so does the sun
We plow the earth under the bright shining light
We sow seeds along the horizon for rice to grow
Laughing, we cast our fishing lines, swinging them high
We measure with scales and mark the distance with steps
But we count the moments to measure time
Love is alive within us, filling us with excitement
Our bodies are grand towers, magnificent in sight
Radiant light inside, our song filling the air
We vow to be the roots, and we vow to be the tree
Where we stand, the trunk is sturdy and true
Old age will rejoice and return to youth
Children will grow up seeing our strength
But remember one thing, friends, please
The very song of youth that the elders sang
We hum it now, and feel our hearts swell
And so, we sing of our youth with every hand we raise.

7. Poem: The Passing of Youth - Nguyễn Đình Cường
The Passing of Youth
Poem by: Nguyễn Đình Cường
I’ve passed through the years of youthful days
With strength and energy in my vibrant years
Looking up at the sky, the winds on the vast sea
I wished for life to flow like a rising wave
My country calls my name, and I feel so proud
The uniform shines, a glimmer on the cap
We march in formation, a united force
“For the people...” – a song of pride, how sweet!
We hold our rifles tight in our hands
We love the islands, guarding them day and night
The far East Sea has the Spratly Islands
And we stand firm, despite the storms at sea
The Southwest calls, but we cannot wait
Ten years, we’ve walked through thorny paths
But honor, that is a real thing
We’ve gained pride helping others along the way!
Our country’s peace – no effort is too much
Contributing a small part to preserve our land
With the ancestors and those who paved the way
The passing of youth – I am content with it now!

8. Poem: Time - Đan Thanh
Time
Poem by Đan Thanh
I reach out to grab a little time
On a rosebud just beginning to bloom
A gentle breeze blows by
Carrying with it a golden ray of sunlight
In an instant, the dew fades away
I reach out to catch a little time
On the smile of a child
A tilted moon appears
Bringing back the sweetness of sixteen
I reach out to gather a little passion
From the fleeting days of youth
The sounds of life hurry by
The clouds drift away, and so does the dream of flowers
I reach out to collect the days that have passed
Forever etched in the smile of my mother
Life flows by silently
Coming and going like the rise and fall of a melody
I reach out to gather a word of love
From the glance of a girl
Love’s intoxication binds a foolish lifetime
And passion burns away the days together
I reach out to collect the pain
To realize that once I was naïve
Time and love never seem to slow down
Why does life feel so short?
Before we can feel it deeply, it slips away like a fleeting dream!

9. Poem: Regret...! - Trương Túy Anh
Regret...!
Poem by Trương Túy Anh
I missed the spring season
Couldn't even witness the flowers bloom
Long years passed by unnoticed
Youth walked right past me
I let summer slip away
Missed the kiss of the flamboyant flower
Whispers in the wind
Love's first innocence faded away
I forgot an evening
On the narrow road back home
Golden autumn leaves fell
And I walked alone every night
I fell asleep through winter
Hugging an unfinished love
Kept deep inside my heart
And at night, tears flowed freely
Time doesn’t wait
Opportunities are few
Why didn’t I hold on tight?
Why did I let them slip through my fingers?

10. Poem: Bonded - Vũ Thủy
Bonded
Vũ Thủy
Remembering youth’s close days
Coming back from school, singing together
Playing marbles, bouncing shuttlecocks
Sharing all our heartaches and joys
As we grew, we parted ways
Thrown into the hardships of life’s struggle
One rushed into the battlefields
Back home with honor, carrying a wooden crutch
The other wandered far and wide
Suffering misfortune, facing injustices
Enduring countless hardships
Seeing youth’s dreams fade away
The peach blossoms bloomed, fleeting and few
Now, one is in the North, the other in the South
Many days spent in close friendship
Sipping tea and reminiscing under the full moon
