5. Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin
Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin is an anime produced by TV Asahi and Toei Animation, directed by Tomoharu Katsumata, with scripts by Mitsuru Majima and Kenji Terada, character designs by Jōji Yanase, and music composed by Gorō Oumi. The anime adaptation concludes with the Akakabuto arc, leaving out the Hakkenshi arc. Additionally, the latter half of the story was simplified, with several dogs being silent and their appearances reduced compared to the original manga.
The story follows Gin, a young Akita Inu puppy (whose name means 'silver' in Japanese), who leaves his owner, a boy named Daisuke, to join a pack of wild dogs. The pack is gathering strong dogs from all over Japan to fight a crazed bear named Akakabuto (meaning 'red helmet') and his followers. The story starts from the human perspective but later shifts to focus on the dogs. As the war intensifies, Eren and his comrades fight to protect their homeland while uncovering the secrets of the Titans, their own civilization, and the truth about the world beyond the walls.
Eventually, Eren and his team uncover a shocking revelation: they are not the last remaining humans. They are descendants of the Eldian race, exiled behind the walls due to their past transgressions against another race, the Marley people. They also learn that the world they thought was the entire Earth is, in fact, just a small isolated island called Paradis. Led by Eren, the Eldians begin a rebellion against the Marley empire, intending to destroy Paradis. Eren initiates the Rumbling, an event that unleashes millions of Colossal Titans from within the walls, aiming to crush the outside world and establish a lasting peace for Paradis.
With help from those with Titan powers from Marley, the Scout Regiment stops the Rumbling, but the disaster wipes out 80% of humanity. Mikasa ultimately kills Eren, permanently eradicating the Titan powers worldwide. Three years later, tensions rise between Paradis and the remaining nations, but Armin believes that peace negotiations led by Queen Historia will succeed.
