1. Essay about Grandpa No. 4
Family is always the place where we receive endless love and care. Just like everyone else, I too am surrounded by affection from my family, but the person I cherish the most is my grandfather.
At nearly eighty years old, my grandfather is still very strong. He has a slim frame, typical of an elderly man, with tanned skin from his coastal roots. His hair has thinned over time and now has streaks of white, but his face remains gentle and kind, much like a fairy tale character. Although age has left its marks with wrinkles and age spots, his eyes are still bright, clear, and sharp, able to see everything around him. His high cheekbones and smooth forehead resemble those of our beloved Ho Chi Minh, embodying kindness and wisdom.
Though his hands have become frail with age, every day he still does small tasks around the house, like caring for the plants or feeding the birds. He dresses simply at home in a shirt or t-shirt paired with loose trousers, but on special occasions or outings, he wears dark-colored khaki or a smart suit, which gives him an air of dignity and authority.
My grandfather loves reading and every day, he sits by the balcony, wearing his reading glasses, devouring books on various subjects. He has a vast store of knowledge and often shares stories about the past, about war, about human life, and about traditional customs. I always enjoy listening to his warm, firm voice as he tells me these tales.
He loves me deeply and teaches me important life lessons. He always advises me on how to become an independent person. Whenever he's free, he takes me out, buys me treats, and tells me stories, always with a gentle, warm smile on his face, like the sunshine that brightens my life.
I love my grandfather very much. Throughout his life, he has sacrificed so much for his children and grandchildren. He is a person full of noble qualities, someone I admire and look up to. I hope he remains healthy so that he can always be by my side.

2. Essay about Grandpa No. 5
My family consists of three generations with five members: my paternal grandparents, my parents, and me. As the youngest member, I receive special attention. However, I never take advantage of this attention to be spoiled. While my grandmother cares for me in my daily meals and sleep, my grandfather focuses on my education. He is also my confidant and best friend.
This year, my grandfather is sixty-five years old. He has been retired for five years now. Before retiring, he worked as a laborer at the Hanoi railway station. He is a short man with tanned skin. His hair is salt-and-pepper, slightly curly by nature. He is gentle and quiet by nature.
My grandfather loves to write poetry, and he is very good at it. His poems are often published in the work newsletter of his former workplace. He writes about events that happen at work or in daily life. When he was still working, he wore a blue uniform with matching shoes and cap. At home, he often wears a neatly made striped pajama set.
Even in retirement, my grandfather keeps to the same routine as when he was working. Every morning, he wakes up early, and we go up to the rooftop of our apartment to exercise. After breakfast, my parents take me to school, and he reads the newspaper or watches the morning news. When my parents travel for work, my grandfather takes me to school.
In the evenings, my grandfather helps me with my homework. Since he is retired, he has more time to focus on my education. It's amazing how he still remembers math concepts he learned decades ago. Most of my academic success today is thanks to his guidance.
When we sit together and watch the moon, my grandfather often shares stories about his life. He tells me how, because his family was poor, he couldn't continue his education and had to work as a laborer to help support his family. He also shares the challenges he faced when he first left home to work. My grandfather truly is my best friend. Whenever something good or bad happens at school, I always share it with him. A few comforting words from him are enough to make all my worries disappear.
Since his retirement, my grandfather has become the head of our neighborhood association. The people in our neighborhood respect and admire him for his kind heart and exemplary conduct in handling community matters.
My grandfather is a man I deeply respect and cherish. I love him dearly and am incredibly grateful for everything he has done for me. I hope that as I grow up, I can be like him — living a life full of love and respect from everyone around me.

4. Essay Describing Grandfather Number 7
My family consists of my grandfather, grandmother, parents, and two siblings. However, the one most respected and beloved in the family is my grandfather.
My grandfather is over seventy years old, but he still looks strong. His long, white beard resembles that of Uncle Ho. Every time he holds my little brother Bi in his arms, Bi enjoys stroking his beard. His hair has turned completely white, his skin is dark and wrinkled, but his face radiates kindness and love, making him look very peaceful.
When he smiles, you can see his sparse white teeth. His ears are large and long, much like Buddha’s, and people say those with such ears live long lives. I hope that saying is true for him. Despite his age, he moves quickly and still gets up early at five every morning to practice physical exercises.
My grandfather loves gardening, and the flowers in his garden bloom year-round. Each season brings different flowers: cherry blossoms in January, hydrangeas in May, lotus flowers in June and July, and golden chrysanthemums in autumn. During winter, he grows cold-weather flowers that require extra care.
He is particularly fond of orchids, including the purple Tai Chau orchid, the pure white Bạch Ngọc orchid, as well as many varieties of wild orchids I can’t remember the names of. There are also Sa Pa roses by the fence, delicate and graceful. Every spring, his garden comes to life with lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and birds hopping from branch to branch, filling the yard with beauty and joy.
During his free time, he often shares stories with us, each one capturing our imagination and leaving us dreaming of wonderful adventures. He is kind-hearted and always goes out of his way to help neighbors, offering support whenever needed. Everyone in the neighborhood holds him in high regard.
Although he is old, my grandfather loves his children and grandchildren, and he is open, friendly, and harmonious with everyone. I hope he stays healthy and lives a long life, and I will strive to do well in school to make him proud.

5. Essay Describing Grandfather Number 8
The best part of my summer vacations is always visiting my grandfather in the countryside. Every year, my parents take me to visit him during the summer break. Spending a full month receiving his love and care is an invaluable gift to me. It’s no surprise that he is the one I love and respect the most in my family.
My grandfather is eighty-three years old now. The wrinkles on his face have increased, but they don’t diminish the warmth in his smile. He has lost most of his teeth, but he still loves chewing betel nuts, so he always carries a wooden betel grinder with him. I love the scent that blends the fragrance of the wood with the sharp scent of the betel. That unique smell has been part of my sleep for so long, and now it feels so familiar to me.
At his age, his hair has turned completely white. Seeing his slow walk with his bamboo cane and his white hair, I immediately think of the kind grandfather figure in fairy tales. Despite his old age, his vision remains sharp. He reads the newspaper every morning without needing glasses. He always tells me that the eyes are a precious gift and the window to the soul, so I must take care of them.
Whenever I study or sit in front of the computer, he always reminds me to give my eyes a break. Now, many of my friends have become nearsighted, but my eyesight is still perfect. He also keeps a pet bird, a sparrow, which I call Ki. It sings beautifully. Whenever my grandfather returns home, the bird hops around and sings excitedly, making it so adorable. I also love dogs, and my grandfather has a very smart dog named Vện. It follows him around all day, whether sitting at the tea table or walking to the garden. Vện acts as a guardian for my grandfather.
Behind his house, my grandfather has a thriving garden filled with fruit trees. My sister Lan loves eating sugar apples, so he planted many sugar apple trees next to banana plants. Uncle Bình often jokes, "Young people plant sugar apples, old people plant bananas," but my grandfather plants both, showing that age doesn’t matter. He says that if he can't eat them, his children and grandchildren will enjoy them, so there’s no loss. Everyone in the neighborhood respects him, not only because of his age but also because he lives a principled and exemplary life. If anyone throws trash around, my grandfather immediately reminds them to be responsible.
My grandfather is truly a wonderful person. I love him dearly and eagerly look forward to the summer to visit him and show him my school achievements. I hope he stays healthy and continues to be with us for many more years!

6. Essay Describing Grandfather Number 9
Every time I visit my grandfather, I feel a rush of love and affection that I can’t quite explain. It’s a special kind of feeling I’ve never experienced before.
My grandfather is over seventy, but he is still very agile. His current appearance is quite different from when he was a young soldier. I’m sure his comrades back then would never believe that this was the same Thu, the resilient young man who was considered the fittest in his entire unit. Now, his once-dark hair has turned white, as soft and gentle as the clouds in the sky.
The years of serving his country and family have left his skin with a tan, and age has replaced his smooth skin with wrinkles and age spots on his rough, weathered hands. His face, though, retains the kind and gentle expression of a fairy tale character, with eyes that always sparkle with warmth, melting even the coldest hearts.
His smile, as pure as fragrant flowers, has always been a source of strength for me, helping me overcome difficulties. Every step he takes is firm and purposeful, reflecting his passionate and determined nature. His style is simple, yet dignified, embodying the spirit of a true laborer, always wearing his brown clothes and rubber sandals.
When he was young, my grandfather had a natural talent for singing, making him a popular face in local performances. My grandmother, a beautiful guerrilla fighter at the time, first fell for him when she heard his golden voice and saw his handsome face. Despite living more than half a lifetime, he is still hardworking. His skill in caring for plants is extraordinary, which is why his garden is always full of vibrant and thriving plants.
My grandfather values discipline and respect, and he has no tolerance for arrogance or laziness. Knowing this, I’ve always avoided bad habits to keep him happy. He also cares deeply about our studies, and every time I share my good grades with him, he rewards me with a heartfelt kiss.
As time passes, I reluctantly say goodbye to my grandfather, but I can’t shake the feeling of longing for the warmth of his love and the deep connection I have with him. I hope he always stays healthy and continues to be the solid foundation for our family.

8. An Essay about My Grandfather, Part 1
In our family, I love everyone, but the one I cherish and respect the most is my grandfather. His image is always so sweet in my heart.
My grandfather isn't too old, he's only about seventy. He has a medium build like most elderly people. His face, marked with many wrinkles from years of hardship, particularly from his time in the battlefields of Southern Vietnam, still carries the wisdom and beauty of age. His square face, darkened skin with age spots, and eyes full of crow's feet make him look aged, but in my eyes, he is still handsome.
There's nothing more blissful than lying in his arms, feeling the warmth of his hand as he strokes his gray beard, and gazing into his warm, kind eyes. At those moments, it feels like I'm in a fairy tale, with a benevolent figure like a guardian angel beside me. I love holding his hand and feeling the warmth spread from his palm—it’s so comforting.
Since my parents are often at work, my grandfather and I have become very close. His voice is deep and soothing, especially because he was once a famous amateur actor in his youth. Whenever he tells us stories or sings, we quickly fall asleep from his calming voice.
My grandfather has many children, which means there are plenty of grandchildren. I've never met anyone who loves their grandchildren as much as he does. He often says, 'When I had grandchildren, I realized I love them even more than my own children!' We, his grandchildren, are incredibly close to him, and I, as his 'only grandson,' have a special bond with him.
Here's a surprising fact: my grandfather is the main cook in our family, not anyone else. When my grandmother is with him, she feels clumsy, often saying, 'I lost my mother early, so I’m not very good at cooking.' Every morning after exercising, he heads out to the market with his basket in hand.
He enjoys the lively bargaining at the small market near our apartment. Everything he buys is fresh, delicious, and colorful. He’s a great cook too—if you ever visit, you'll be amazed by his cooking skills.
What’s even more remarkable is his constant attention to current events. No news broadcast, no radio show, and no article escapes his notice. He also enjoys discussing the news with his friends, either by meeting them or calling them on the phone. It seems like his phone is only for two things—checking on his grandchildren and discussing the latest news.
When he talks, he does so passionately, as though his friends were right there with him. Most of what I know about current affairs comes from him. Even world events, like the U.S. invasion of Iraq, upset him greatly, and we all felt his distress. He also takes great pride in his rooftop garden, which he considers his treasure. The garden is filled with plants that each have a special story behind them—like the day he returned from the battlefield or the day we visited Dien Bien Phu.
For my birthday, he gave me a small trumpet. I practiced it, and now I can play the 'Forest Song,' one of his favorite tunes. He’s so proud of me, showing off my talent to the whole neighborhood. But I know it’s not really about my talent—he just loves me so much!
I love and respect my grandfather deeply, and I know he feels the same way about me. Whether he’s a magical figure or simply my grandfather, I’m not sure, but I always tell myself, 'I will try my best to make you proud, Grandpa!'

10. Essay on Grandfather, Number 3
My grandfather is the person I love most in the world. He has always been close and caring throughout my childhood. He is like a friend who listens and offers warmth, teaching me valuable lessons and showering me with endless love.
He is over seventy years old now, with a slim figure, yet he still moves swiftly. He typically wears a neat gray shirt, and when he goes out, he dons a pair of trousers and a dress shirt. His face is thin and angular, a result of enduring years of hardship.
His hair has turned almost entirely white, combed back to reveal his high forehead, marked with deep lines of time. His eyes, however, remain bright. In the evening, he watches the news on TV. His teeth are still white and even, though a few have fallen out, making his smile a little crooked. When he smiles, it is refreshing and full of vitality.
His hands, weathered and tanned, bear the marks of a life full of labor to support his family. Yet, they remain nimble. Every afternoon, he takes water to care for his garden, a ritual he can't forsake. His garden bears fruit in every season. When we visit, we can pick as much as we like without being scolded.
My grandfather is always concerned about his children and grandchildren, teaching us how to love and care for others. One day, my younger sister and I were fighting over a toy. Neither of us wanted to give in. Grandfather stepped in and promised a reward to the one who would show kindness. I decided to give in and let my sister have the toy. True to his word, he took me fishing as a treat, knowing how much I loved it.
Going fishing with him was an incredible experience. Watching him expertly handle the rod and catch fish with shiny scales was mesmerizing. He was truly a skilled fisherman. Afterward, he grilled the fish in the most rustic style, roasting them with rice husks and cooking them on a cast iron pan. The aroma of the fish was irresistible, and the taste was unmatched—delicious, thanks to his careful seasoning.
That fish was the best I have ever eaten, a flavor I haven’t found anywhere else. While eating, grandfather also shared wisdom about sibling relationships:
- Siblings are like hands and feet.
When one is torn, the other supports.
- As the older sibling, you should learn to share. Don’t fight over a toy.
You can still play together.
I nodded,
- Yes, I understand, Grandpa! I will remember this lesson.
Thanks to him, I’ve learned so much. His stories and teachings have shaped my character, giving me the strength to face challenges in life.
Everyone in our neighborhood respects him. He is always eager to help with community tasks, and he rises early each morning to do tai chi with the older folks, occasionally playing chess as well. Though he is elderly, his motto remains: "Live happily, live healthily, and live with purpose."
To his family, he is a role model. To the village, he is an active and caring citizen. Just yesterday, he was nominated as the president of the senior citizens' association, but he declined, worried that his health could not handle the responsibility.
I love him dearly, and I hope he remains strong and healthy for many more years. He is like the shade of a tree, providing shelter and guidance for his descendants to grow and thrive.
