1. Essay on the Virtue of Diligence - Example 4
In life, we must constantly cultivate valuable qualities and work on developing our personal ethics. These qualities help us build trust and the virtue of diligence is a fundamental characteristic that everyone strives to nurture. Diligence, as the saying goes, can compensate for a lack of intelligence. Many individuals who are not particularly gifted intellectually still succeed in life due to their hard work and perseverance. Their diligent efforts have led to personal achievements and have contributed positively to society. Persistence and dedication are important virtues, requiring us to be patient and resilient in order to reach our goals. By overcoming life’s challenges, we can create a better version of ourselves. Through perseverance, we build trust and generate happiness, not just for ourselves but for others around us.
The virtue of diligence is something we cultivate over time, and it fosters a deep sense of trust and affection in us. Our consistent actions and persistence contribute to building a meaningful life. The impact of this virtue is far-reaching, as it not only improves our lives but also enhances the lives of those around us. By continuing to persevere, we forge ahead on the path we’ve chosen, with the values and beliefs we have built along the way. Our actions become a testament to the strength of our character and our ability to overcome adversity. This determination creates an environment where happiness and success flourish, not only within ourselves but also in our relationships with others.
Perseverance and dedication give us the tools to build a life full of meaning and fulfillment. We need to push beyond our comfort zones to reach greater heights. It is through this struggle that we achieve real happiness, as it is tied to our accomplishments and growth. Each step forward, each small victory, contributes to the development of our personal values. The pursuit of excellence through hard work and persistence generates happiness, not just through accomplishments, but through the lessons we learn along the way.
When we embrace perseverance, we are laying the foundation for a successful and meaningful life. We must never stop striving for improvement, for it is through continuous effort that we achieve greatness. The value of this commitment cannot be overstated, as it helps us develop both as individuals and as members of a society. Diligence helps us weather the storms of life and keep moving forward, no matter the obstacles. It forms the bedrock of success and happiness, both for ourselves and for the communities we are part of.
Many people throughout history have exemplified these virtues, using perseverance and dedication to overcome hardships and reach their goals. Through dedication and perseverance, we not only achieve our goals but also inspire those around us to do the same. This journey of self-improvement and diligence is a lifelong one, and it’s through consistent effort that we create lives full of meaning and value.

2. Essay on the Virtue of Diligence - Example 5
To achieve success in life, we must possess many essential virtues. One of the most important virtues is diligence, the ability to work hard and persevere. As the saying goes, "Diligence compensates for lack of intelligence." Even if we are not particularly intelligent, hard work can make our lives easier. However, if we lack both intelligence and diligence, we may never find happiness and will only become a burden to society. As many say, "Genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work." This reflects the fact that success requires significant effort, and achieving great things often demands overcoming numerous obstacles.
Take the example of the diligent ant. Despite being small, the ant works tirelessly day after day, ensuring that its food supply is always full. This is a clear demonstration of the value of diligence.
Similarly, the famous fable of the tortoise and the hare teaches us an important lesson. The hare, known for its speed and agility, was overconfident in a race against the slow-moving tortoise. However, through persistence and determination, the tortoise triumphed, while the hare, complacent and dismissive, faced the consequences of its arrogance. This story serves as a valuable lesson for all of us.
Diligence is a precious and necessary virtue for everyone. Those who are diligent are more likely to achieve their goals and live meaningful lives. On the other hand, lazy individuals live only for the present, with no thought for the future. They prefer to enjoy life without working hard and often complain or shift responsibility when work needs to be done. Such individuals rarely succeed.
In a classroom, the student who works hard will usually perform better than those who do not. Even if the latter have natural intelligence, without the effort, their knowledge will fade over time. Eventually, they will be left behind, while the diligent student will keep learning, mastering formulas, and solving problems, becoming more knowledgeable and competent.
No one can succeed by simply sitting back and expecting things to be handed to them, except perhaps those born into wealth. However, if they continue to be lazy, they will eventually lose everything. Without hard work, success is fleeting and ultimately unsustainable.
To build a brighter future and contribute to a prosperous nation, each student must cultivate moral values and diligently pursue their studies. Education is not only a privilege but also a responsibility. By dedicating ourselves to learning today, we can contribute to the development of our country in the future.
The virtue of diligence is essential for personal success. We must work hard to carve out our place in life and not become a burden to our families or society due to laziness.

3. Essay on the Virtue of Diligence - Example 6
Since the days following the August Revolution, Ho Chi Minh emphasized the need to cultivate a new kind of person to match the demands of a new society. He outlined ethical principles such as thrift, integrity, public-mindedness, and impartiality. Among these, the virtue of diligence in labor was particularly highlighted by him. No labor achievement can be solid without the effort of persistence, hard work, and a thoughtful approach. This is the value of diligence that has been instilled over generations by our ancestors.
First, we must understand what diligence means. Diligent labor is about being persistent, hardworking, and even striving, showing resilience. It involves working independently, without laziness. Being diligent also means working smart, creatively, with a plan and scientific approach. Diligence is the constant effort to complete tasks, no matter how challenging or time-consuming they may be. A diligent person will persist in finding a solution to a problem until it is fully understood. Those who possess this quality can overcome any obstacle, no matter how difficult. Just like the saying goes, 'The ant that works hard fills the nest, and the river that flows continuously wears down the rock.' This is something Uncle Ho noted when discussing the building of a new society. A lazy person in any field is like a misaligned wheel in a moving train, hindering the entire progress. Therefore, laziness is a disservice to society.
Ho Chi Minh once said, 'Labor is glory.' Whether one performs small tasks or large ones, everyone contributes to building a developing society. Following Ho’s call, during the resistance against imperialism and in wartime production campaigns, our achievements were driven by diligent and creative labor aimed at maximizing productivity. In socialist society, while labor is essential, we must minimize physical toil and instead rely on advanced technology to create an optimal working environment, primarily using machines.
The spirit of diligent labor was clearly demonstrated during both of our nation’s long struggles for independence when imperialist forces relentlessly dropped bombs.
'Picking up scattered manure, cleaning each leaf, we are building our homeland and creating prosperity.'
Despite immense hardship, our people stood firm, overcoming all obstacles to regain our nation’s independence. Throughout our long history, we have received international aid from our friends, grounded in the principles of international solidarity and the consciousness of the times. Yet, it was through our patriotism, self-reliance, and unity that we achieved final victory. Therefore, while international cooperation remains important in building our country, without self-reliance through diligent labor and resilience, we cannot transform our nation.
With self-reliance and determination, we can change our country. Our people, especially the farmers, have always been known for their hard work and diligence. Many folk songs praise their noble qualities:
'At the crack of dawn, the rooster crows, the farmer lifts his plow, with the ox beside him.'
Throughout history, the value of labor and laborers has been revered. It is thanks to hard-working people that we have learned the virtues of patriotism and diligence. Through diligence, we are not afraid of hardship or challenges, and we persevere with patience in our work and studies.
Hard work is a precious virtue. Those who are diligent in life always achieve what they desire. For instance, students aiming for graduation must overcome challenges, study diligently, research, and innovate to reach their goals. In work, to complete tasks well, we must focus and work carefully to achieve high results. In labor, if we are diligent, productivity will increase. A prime example is Thomas Edison, who conducted over 1,000 experiments to develop the filament for modern light bulbs. Even a genius must work tirelessly to succeed and contribute to global progress.
The younger generation today must understand the immense power of diligence in labor and strive to excel in studies, working hard to make our nation prosperous. Our country may still be poor, and though we have a large workforce, we are still behind in terms of infrastructure. Today’s labor must be built on principles of ownership, savings, unity, and creativity. Constant learning and adopting advanced technology are crucial. Diligence and a focus on labor 'for the people' will shape a skilled workforce, which is key to our nation’s progress:
'With our hands, we create everything, with human strength, even stones can become rice.'

4. Essay on the Virtue of Diligence (Number 7)
Ho Chi Minh once said, 'Thrift, integrity, impartiality, and selflessness,' and it is no coincidence that he placed the virtue of diligence at the forefront. This is because diligence plays a crucial role in shaping a person's character. Indeed, throughout history, diligence has always been something everyone should value in their personal development. For the younger generation, this quality must be continuously cultivated.
When we speak of diligence, we are referring to diligent labor, whether in household chores, national duties, or self-improvement. Diligence is about being persistent, hardworking, and determined, striving continuously from day to day to improve oneself and complete one's tasks. It also involves constant effort and the determination to rise above adversity, refusing to surrender or give up. Diligence is a cherished and admirable quality.
Indeed, diligence can be an innate trait of a person, but sometimes it is the result of a long and arduous process of striving. Each of us is part of society, and our personal efforts contribute to the collective strength of the whole community. Our ancestors once said, 'Diligence makes up for a lack of intelligence.' This saying holds truth, as naturally intelligent people may be quick to recognize issues, but without hard work and persistence, they will struggle to achieve success. On the other hand, those who are diligent, persistent, and hardworking may not reach their goals quickly, but they will do so with certainty. The combination of these qualities can complement each other, working together to improve one's character.
In labor, if one lacks the virtue of diligence, they will miss out on many opportunities and forfeit chances that may not come again. Diligence is also about recognizing and seizing opportunities to advance. Our people have a saying:
'Anyone who lifts a bowl of rice,
Knows the long labor that went into it.'
Creating a grain of rice requires a process of hard work and dedication, which is why we should appreciate those who produce it when we eat a bowl of warm, fragrant rice. This is a form of respect. The most significant example of the virtue of diligence is seen through our victories in the resistance wars against France and the United States. To achieve these monumental victories, under the leadership of the Party and Ho Chi Minh, our people fought with great valor to drive out invaders. This was made possible by their hard work, resilience, and unity. Through years of hardship and suffering, our ancestors persevered side by side, overcoming all obstacles. This is a lesson of pride and something the younger generation should learn from the virtue of diligence.
Diligence is like the process of sharpening a steel rod into a needle—it's about effort, persistence, and proving oneself through continuous striving. The greatest victory is the victory over oneself. Those who rely on others, refuse to put in the work, and remain lazy will only face regret later. But by then, it will be too late for regrets. Therefore, each person must begin their journey of learning and cultivating the virtue of diligence to improve themselves and contribute to building a stronger, wealthier nation.
For today's youth, the virtue of diligence is essential and must be consistently nurtured. We are the seeds, the future of the nation.

5. Essay on the Virtue of Diligence (Number 8)
To succeed in life, one must cultivate and refine a range of valuable virtues. Among these virtues, diligence and perseverance in work are paramount. This is especially true for students, the young individuals who are tirelessly working each day in their educational journey.
Diligence in work is about being consistent, diligent, and dedicated, working steadily and without hesitation, investing effort without regret. It contrasts with laziness, where one avoids tasks, procrastinates, or expects others to handle the responsibilities.
Perseverance in work means having the determination to see things through, not quitting midway, even in the face of difficulties or setbacks. It contrasts with a lack of perseverance, where a person gives up easily, gets discouraged, and lacks the resolve to accomplish anything.
Those who are diligent and persistent in their work are typically hardworking, patient, and committed. They never complain or shy away from challenges. In their tasks, they always strive for excellence and success. When confronted with difficulties, they patiently look for solutions. They work tirelessly with a deep love for what they do. Diligent and persistent individuals never give up, no matter how tough the challenges are. They are always ready to lend a helping hand to others, serving as an inspiration for everyone around them. Because of this, they are loved and supported by those around them.
Life always presents challenges that require overcoming. There are no easy tasks that lead to great results. The higher the challenge, the greater the reward. Therefore, we should not expect things to be easy, but should face challenges courageously in order to build our strength and achieve success. Diligence and perseverance prevent us from giving up when faced with obstacles. To accomplish something great, one must first excel at small tasks.
Small efforts accumulate into big achievements. No success comes effortlessly; it is always the result of persistent effort. Those who are diligent and persistent are often appreciated and supported by others. This is why they are more likely to succeed in life. First and foremost, they must have the awareness to develop themselves in accordance with social standards. From this awareness, they move to concrete actions both in their work and daily life.
In learning, one must follow school rules, maintain discipline, and attend classes regularly without skipping lessons or making excuses. When faced with difficult lessons, one should not become discouraged but should find ways to understand and solve them. In work, creativity and innovation should be sought. A new idea each day can make life more enjoyable and strengthen one's spirit. Doing household chores, not shying away from difficulties, saving resources, and actively helping others are all important aspects. In physical fitness, it’s vital to be persistent in exercising. Actively participate in maintaining hygiene and protecting a clean and healthy environment. Persevere in combating social evils.
In contrast to diligence and perseverance is laziness and dependence. Lazy people, lacking patience, often live carelessly and sloppily. In their work, they frequently try to avoid tasks, calculate the minimal effort needed, and rely on others to handle the hard work. They live off the efforts of their families and friends, which leads to a life of poverty and rejection by others.
Diligence and perseverance enable success in both work and life. As students, we must cultivate these virtues to succeed in our studies and lead meaningful lives.
If diligence brings us luck, perseverance ensures that we achieve success. Great accomplishments are not attained through force but through sustained effort. Diligence and perseverance are essential virtues that every student today must develop.

Diligence and perseverance are valuable qualities that everyone, from students to workers, should nurture every day. These virtues are crucial to our lives and can guide us toward the best possible future.
So, what exactly do diligence and perseverance mean? Diligence refers to consistently applying effort in work and study, staying dedicated and focused over time. Perseverance, on the other hand, is the ability to keep going, regardless of obstacles, especially in academics and labor.
It is often said that time is as precious as gold. Those who value time understand the importance of working diligently and studying hard. Only with perseverance and diligence can we make the most of our time, preventing it from slipping away in vain.
Being diligent means tirelessly working to improve, whether it's mastering a skill, solving tough problems in school, or staying up late to study and achieve goals. A student, for instance, must strive to overcome challenges in their studies and search for solutions to problems they do not understand. That is the true meaning of diligence.
A worker who respects time treats it as invaluable and gives their best to avoid wasting it. Farmers, working tirelessly from dawn till dusk, put in great effort to ensure a rich harvest, creating rice and other crops to ensure a comfortable life. Achieving prosperity requires diligence and perseverance, as we must continually strive in every moment of life.
Throughout history, the most respected people have always been those who work hard. It is the working people who have taught us the importance of perseverance. Thanks to their diligence, we learn to face adversity with patience, whether in labor or study.
In contrast, laziness is the opposite of diligence and perseverance. Lazy people are content with pleasure and avoid hard work, becoming useless and often mocked by others for their lack of contribution.
As students, we must commit ourselves to hard work and discipline, waking early, studying diligently, and building a bright future for ourselves and society. Especially during exams, we must work hard and not give up when faced with difficulties. Only by putting in maximum effort can we improve our grades and achieve success.
Hardworking individuals are admired by others and serve as role models. A diligent student is beloved by teachers and respected by peers, while a hardworking worker earns admiration from everyone.

7. Essay on the Virtue of Diligence (Number 10)
To reach the destination of success, a person must have clear goals, strong character, self-belief, and an essential ingredient in the recipe for success: diligence. Diligence is like a golden key that opens the door to achieving one's dreams.
Diligence means consistently working hard and striving to complete tasks or reach a particular goal. It is a valuable quality for us to develop. It is easy to identify a diligent person by their actions. They are persistent, work regularly, and put in maximum effort even if it takes a long time. These are the individuals who are eager to learn, constantly exploring and researching their interests, and finding solutions until they achieve results. Once they set a goal, they pursue it relentlessly until it is accomplished. For these diligent people, the path to success is much shorter. Their perseverance allows them to acquire more knowledge, understand their field better, and find the right path to success.
By investing time and effort, we will eventually reap the rewards of our labor. The old proverb "Constant effort leads to success" teaches us that all accomplishments require diligence and patience. For example, a student learning a new language needs to study and practice, no matter how talented they are. Similarly, a pianist becomes skilled only after years of diligent practice. As the saying goes, "For geniuses, creativity makes up only 1% of their success, while 99% is hard work." The most successful entrepreneurs around the world have spent years working tirelessly and persistently. Thus, it is clear that diligence provides the solid foundation for success.
The saying "Hard work compensates for lack of intelligence" holds true. Even those who are not naturally gifted will surpass others with intelligence through their diligence and perseverance. However, mere diligence is not enough to guarantee success. It is essential to have a clear goal, a proper path, and to work hard in the right way, avoiding becoming too stubborn or stuck in a routine with no way forward.
Those who lack diligence find everything difficult because they lack the patience to persist. They give up too soon, never achieving success. Many people don't realize that while they are dreaming about success, others are already awake, working tirelessly and diligently toward their goals.
As young people, we must understand the importance of diligence and apply it if we want to succeed. Always strive to study and cultivate diligence. Dedicate time to working hard, and soon you will see the results—just as you have always dreamed!

8. Essay on the Virtue of Diligence (Number 1)
It is often said that genius is just 1%, and the other 99% is sweat and tears. Indeed, to succeed in any field—whether it's in life, science, or research—one must put in significant effort and hard work. No success ever comes easily. As the old saying goes, 'Ants work for long to fill their nest,' emphasizing the importance of diligence in achieving success.
First, let's explore the meaning of the phrase 'Ants work for long to fill their nest.' Ants, though small, are incredibly diligent and hardworking. This reflects people who are persistent and industrious. 'Nest' refers to the fruits of one's labor. The message behind this saying is clear: to reach success, to achieve the pinnacle of glory, and to overcome life's challenges, it is not the lazy who succeed, but those who are constantly working, studying, and laboring diligently. This saying applies universally, advising people of all ages and in all eras to strive tirelessly toward success, happiness, and fulfillment.
Diligence is a precious trait. A diligent person always achieves what they set out to do. For instance, in education, students must endure hardships and challenges, study hard, conduct research, and think creatively to graduate and secure a career. In the workplace, if we wish to perform well, we need to focus, be meticulous, and complete our tasks with care for optimal results. In labor, diligent work enhances productivity. A prime example is Thomas Edison, who conducted over 1,000 experiments before successfully inventing the light bulb. Even geniuses must work tirelessly to achieve greatness and contribute to the world’s development.
While many are diligently studying and striving to succeed, others remain lazy, relying on luck or innate talent rather than hard work. Some believe that intelligence alone can get them by without effort. But when faced with real-world problems or tasks, these individuals fail because they haven’t learned the necessary skills. There are also those who, driven by indulgence, fall prey to negative social influences, paying the price for their laziness and lack of discipline.
To succeed in life, we must dedicate ourselves to hard work and continuous learning. Many young people today have achieved success in various fields of life, thanks to their dedication to study, work, and research. As students, we must persistently learn, cultivate our knowledge, and develop good moral values to prepare ourselves for success in life.
Diligence is a noble virtue. Therefore, we must strive, work hard, and give our best efforts to fulfill our life’s purpose, bring joy and happiness to ourselves, succeed in society, and contribute to the prosperity and development of our nation, aligning with the best countries around the world.

9. Essay on the Virtue of Diligence (Number 2)
We are all familiar with the famous fable of the tortoise and the hare. Through this story, we learn a valuable lesson that diligence and hard work can often be more effective than hastiness driven by overconfidence. Not everyone is born with extraordinary intelligence. However, some people, even without natural brilliance, succeed because they understand the value of 'diligence compensates for intelligence.'
So, what does 'Diligence compensates for intelligence' really mean? Diligence refers to the consistent, patient effort to work regularly. A diligent person is someone who perseveres and strives to complete tasks, no matter how difficult or time-consuming they may be. They are hardworking, always researching and seeking to understand an issue until they master it. Intelligence, on the other hand, is the ability to grasp concepts quickly. Intelligent people often excel in various fields. 'Diligence compensates for intelligence' suggests that a person who works hard and is persistent can achieve just as much as someone who is naturally gifted.
This saying captures an essential truth in life, almost becoming a universal principle. Persistence and patience are just as crucial as natural talent or intelligence. Not everyone is inherently gifted, but some people make up for it through their hard work. Those who know how to harness their diligence can surpass others in areas where intelligence might have fallen short. A lack of intelligence does not mean one is useless, because cognitive ability is not purely innate—it is developed through continuous practice. As the famous inventor Thomas Edison once said, 'Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.'
In today's world, success requires careful attention and perseverance. People who are accustomed to diligence will find it easier to adapt, while some highly intelligent individuals struggle with staying patient. There are many famous individuals who were once considered 'slow-witted' but achieved extraordinary success thanks to their relentless effort. Albert Einstein, for example, was thought to be slow to learn. At the age of four, he could not speak, and by the age of seven, he was unable to read. His teachers called him 'slow,' and he was even expelled from Zurich Polytechnic University. Despite these challenges, he persevered and became one of the most renowned physicists in history.
'Diligence compensates for intelligence,' but this doesn't mean anyone can just work hard and succeed. It requires a combination of effort, perseverance, and passion. Some people work hard but still fail because of laziness or ineffective efforts. Failure is inevitable when we practice, but the key is whether we have the determination to get back up. Diligence doesn’t mean we should force ourselves to do everything. It is important to work hard, but we must also think things through and plan before taking action. In society, while there are those who use their diligence to rise, there are also those who give up. They think they are not as intelligent as others and thus label themselves as failures.
Such individuals often fall into negativity, giving up and becoming a burden to society. 'On the road to success, there are no footprints of the lazy,' and those who are lazy will struggle to survive. In contrast to the pessimistic, there are also those who are overconfident in their abilities. They believe they are smarter than others, so they never make an effort to improve and fail to see how much they have fallen behind. As students, we must understand our own abilities and use this self-awareness to improve and grow. In school, we should commit to doing our homework, learning thoroughly, and when faced with challenges, we must never give up but look for solutions. At home, we must practice everything, from small tasks to large projects. Each time we complete something, we reinforce our diligence.
Through time and life experience, we see that life never stops, and similarly, we must never stop striving. Diligence becomes an essential virtue that cannot be overlooked. Diligence is not just about working hard; it is about improving oneself, pushing forward, and not settling for where we are. We must strive to ensure that diligence can make up for any lack of intelligence we may have.

10. Essay on the Virtue of Diligence (Number 3)
One of the essential virtues for achieving success in life is diligence. This value has been passed down through generations, encapsulated in the proverb 'Effort to sharpen iron will eventually yield a needle,' which serves as a reminder of the importance of hard work.
The proverb 'Effort to sharpen iron will eventually yield a needle' is composed of simple, understandable words, yet it carries profound and valuable meaning. Literally, it suggests that if one works hard to sharpen a piece of iron, eventually, it will turn into a needle. But it’s not just about iron; the piece of iron symbolizes the difficult, seemingly impossible tasks in life. The needle represents the results, the success we achieve after long periods of diligent effort. This shows us that with persistence, hard work, and patience, even the most difficult tasks or challenges can be overcome. Therefore, it is truly accurate to say that diligence is a key component of success.
Furthermore, diligence not only leads to success but also highlights essential qualities in a person, especially for a student. We can observe that an intelligent student with sharp thinking but lacking diligence will never truly succeed in their studies or life. History is full of examples of hard work, and one of the most notable is our beloved leader, President Ho Chi Minh. In 1941, when he set out to seek a way to save the nation, he had nothing but his determination. Despite not knowing the language of the country he was in, he applied himself diligently, studying the language in his spare time. Gradually, he became fluent, able to converse easily, and even write articles in a foreign language. It’s truly remarkable for someone with no formal language education to master several languages purely through diligent effort.
This proverb reflects the wisdom and experience of our ancestors, who knew that diligence is essential for a successful life. However, many people still fail to value hard work, particularly some talented students who become overly confident in their abilities. These students often fail to realize the serious consequences of laziness and the lack of diligence. It's easy to see that if we don’t take notes, complete our assignments, or simply listen carelessly in class, we will gradually create gaps in our knowledge. Over time, these gaps grow, leading to poor academic results and a loss of motivation. As a result, a student who was once top of the class could easily become a weak student, and vice versa. Therefore, we understand that diligence directly affects crucial aspects of life, such as success, academic achievement, and overall life satisfaction.
As a student, I will strive to cultivate and enhance my own diligence through even small tasks such as reviewing lessons, completing assignments, and taking careful notes. Additionally, seeking further knowledge from books can help develop this important quality. Only by doing so will my studies progress, and despite the challenges of achieving my dream of attending university, I know that persistence will lead me to success, just like the proverb suggests.
The proverb 'Effort to sharpen iron will eventually yield a needle' is a timeless piece of advice from our ancestors about the importance of hard work and diligence. It teaches us that to achieve the best results, we must have the virtue of diligence, and only through this will we reach our goals.
