Chu Van An Specialized High School began its operations in the 2017-2018 academic year. The school was established with the vision of bringing together gifted students from the northern districts of Binh Dinh, who lacked the resources to attend specialized schools in Quy Nhon. In its inaugural year, the school had only 8 classes. By its second year, it had expanded to 16 classes across two grade levels, with 7 specialized classes and one general class per grade.

During the most recent academic year, the school enrolled 557 students, with 21 specialized classes and 3 general classes. The annual report highlighted that 100% of students achieved good to excellent academic results, with 476 students receiving top honors and nearly 99% maintaining good behavior. In the 2019-2020 school year, the school produced 9 national-level winners, 152 provincial-level winners from grades 11 and 12, and 296 school-level awardees. In addition, students participated in the provincial science and technology competition, securing 1 first-place award, 1 third-place, and 1 fourth-place prize.

Though newly established, Chu Van An Specialized High School has successfully met its goal of gathering and nurturing talented students who previously lacked educational opportunities. In the 30/4 Traditional Mathematics Olympiad held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 6, 2019, the school earned 44 medals from 54 participants, ranking 12th out of 63 schools from Da Nang and southward.
