1. New Year Letter for Loved Ones Example #4
Ho Chi Minh City, February 1, 2024
Dear Grandparents,
The old year is almost over, and spring is approaching. I won’t be able to visit you for the New Year this time, so I’m writing this letter to check in and send my warm wishes.
How have you both been this winter? Are you eating well? With the cold winds coming, Grandma, don’t forget to wear socks to protect your feet! Grandpa, please remember to wear a scarf to keep warm and avoid catching a cold. How is Beto, the dog Dad brought home last summer? Has it grown a lot? Can it guard the house now? Please remind Phong to bathe it so it doesn't get dirty and shed its fur. I hope Beto is helping Uncle Hung out; I heard it's very clever and has learned many tasks. I wish I could come home for Tết, but it’s a short break, so I’ll visit in the summer when I have more time. I miss you, Uncle and Aunt, Phong, and even Beto!
Everyone at home is doing well. My sister Ngân and I both received excellent grades for the first semester. Mom is busy packing gifts to send to you for Tết. On behalf of the whole family, I wish you both a healthy, happy, and joyful New Year. I also wish Uncle Hưng and the kids a prosperous year filled with success and happiness. When you receive this letter and the Tết gifts from Mom, please call me to let me know!
That’s all for now. Sending my love and kisses to you both!
Your Grandchild,
Nguyễn Nhã Nghiêm

2. Letter to a family member wishing a Happy New Year - Version 5
....... on the day ……month ……year ……
My dear sister!
It’s been so long since I last saw you, I miss you so much. How have you been? Please make sure you eat well to stay strong for work and studies.
At home, both mom and dad are doing well. I’ve been good too. In the mornings, I now ride my bike to school. Yesterday, mom even taught me how to fry eggs – do you think I did well?
This year, do you have a long break for the New Year? Are you bringing the dog back to visit mom and dad? I wish you a joyful, successful, and happy New Year. Mom and dad said that you’ve moved far away to live with your husband, so it’s difficult to meet up, especially during the busy New Year. I can only see you during the full moon. That’s why I’m writing you this letter to wish you a Happy New Year. Call me right after reading this letter, okay?
Love,
Mai Lan

3. Letter to a family member wishing a Happy New Year - Version 6
Hanoi, on the day ..... month .... year .......
Dear Mom,
Another spring season has arrived. I still remember, many years ago when I was little, I would eagerly wait for the new year, because during Tet, I would receive lucky money. But as I grew older, I realized that with each passing spring, Mom gets older too, and there are more silver strands in your hair.
This New Year, I want to first wish you a year full of joy and happiness. May you remain forever youthful, healthy, and live long with us. I wish you good fortune, great health, and prosperity this year.
This year, I promise to be a better child, to study hard so you can be proud of me and feel at ease. I will become a distinguished journalist in the future and a good citizen. You don’t need to worry about me anymore, and you can focus on taking good care of your health.
The New Year is here, and I hope you will love me even more, because I love you so much. For me, every Tet holiday brings peace and happiness because I have you by my side. I love you, Mom!
Your child,
Ngoc An

4. Letter to a family member wishing a Happy New Year - Version 7
Khánh Hòa, on the day... month... year...
Dear Aunt Thúy,
Another year has come, and once again, you are far from home, not able to celebrate the New Year with the family. I miss you so much!
How have you been? Has your arthritis been acting up again? How is work in Ho Chi Minh City? And how are Lan and Minh?
Everyone at home is doing fine. This year, the whole family is eagerly preparing for Tet. I've had so much joy this year! Mom and I went shopping for new clothes, and Dad took me to buy peach blossoms. Grandma taught me how to wrap bánh chưng, but since it was my first time, my bánh wasn’t perfect. This is also the first year I got to watch the bánh being cooked. The weather here is quite cold, so I often warm my hands by the fire while keeping an eye on the pot. The best part was celebrating the New Year’s Eve with Mom and Dad. I must be growing up, don’t you think?
I still remember the Tet two years ago when you and the family came back home to celebrate. We all gathered around, had a wonderful family dinner, and went around visiting everyone. Those memories are so warm!
This letter has gotten long, so I will end it here. I wish you and the family a joyful and prosperous New Year. I hope that next year, you and the family can come back home to celebrate Tet with us and Grandpa and Grandma. I love you so much!
Your niece,
Trần Lan Hương

5. Letter to a family member wishing a Happy New Year - Version 8
Ho Chi Minh City, on the day... month... year...
Dear Aunt Phương,
Our grandparents and the family have just received your New Year's greetings from Nam Định. Thinking of you, I quickly wrote this letter to wish you a Happy New Year and share some good news: Our grandparents here are still doing well. They were delighted to receive the news from home during the Tet holiday and are feeling quite nostalgic. They mentioned that next year, my parents will arrange for them to visit home to celebrate Tet. It's been 5-6 years since they've been back, hasn't it?
When we received your letter, the whole family was so happy. Grandfather managed to eat half a bowl of rice, and grandmother kept asking why you didn’t mention “Vện,” the dog she asked you to take extra care of when you came to the South.
By the way, I also want to share with you that this Tet, my parents arranged for our grandparents to visit some scenic spots in the South, like Ba Den Mountain and the Châu Đốc Pagoda...
When I told our grandparents that I was writing to you, they asked me to send their regards and wish everyone in the family here good health.
To close this letter, I would like to wish you a wonderful and healthy New Year, with a bountiful harvest. I also wish all the best for the studies of my siblings.
Your niece,
Vũ Thị Mai

6. Letter to a family member wishing a Happy New Year - Version 9
Hanoi, on the day... month... year...
Dear Grandmother,
Do you know, this morning, Hanoi officially entered winter. Sitting by the window, feeling the cool breeze, I couldn't help but think of you. I miss the winter days spent by your side, sitting next to the stove, warming my hands and roasting sweet potatoes together. This year, due to the pandemic, our family is unable to visit you. We all miss you terribly. In just over two months, the New Year will be here again, and I am so sad that we can't be there to celebrate Tet with you. On this New Year's occasion, I want to wish you good health, much joy, and happiness. I hope you live to be 100 so you can always be with us, your grandchildren.
This New Year, I promise to be diligent and study hard, achieving good results with many perfect 10s, which I will dedicate to you and my parents.
The letter is getting long, so I’ll stop here. Once again, I wish you a joyful and happy New Year. Once the pandemic is under control, our family will visit you at home. Please remember to take good care of your health and wear warm clothes. I love you so much.
Your granddaughter,
Nguyễn Ngọc Khánh Linh

7. Letter to a family member wishing a Happy New Year - Version 10
Ho Chi Minh City, on the day ... month ... year 20...
Dear Grandparents and Uncle and Aunt,
Another year has passed, and the New Year is just around the corner. I suddenly remembered the New Year poems you and Uncle and Aunt sent last year. Time really flies! This year, my parents said they would visit our hometown for Tet, but we’re not sure when. I really hope it happens, because it’s been three years since I’ve celebrated Tet with you, making rice cakes together with Uncle and Aunt.
I still remember the advice you gave me last year through your Tet letter. Now, with just one month until the Lunar New Year and a few more days until the Western New Year, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all good health as we step into the new year 202. I wish Uncle and Aunt success in their work and hope that the children continue to excel in their studies. I look forward to seeing all of you during the upcoming Tet holiday.
Your granddaughter,
Vũ Hà

8. Letter to a family member wishing a Happy New Year - Version 1
Nam Dinh, on the day ... month ... year 2024
Dear Grandparents,
On this occasion of the New Year, I would like to take the opportunity to convey New Year greetings to you from my parents.
I wish you both good health and a long life so that every summer, I can visit you in Ho Chi Minh City.
I wonder how you and Uncle Vinh celebrated the Spring Festival? Over here, the weather has been very cold before Tet, but starting from the first day of the new year, it warmed up and the spring atmosphere filled the village streets. The two gao trees at the edge of the village have started blooming, and the custard apple tree at our house is shedding its leaves to sprout new buds.
Every Tet, when I see the peach tree you planted blooming brightly in front of the house, I miss you dearly. And when we make traditional cakes or Lam cakes, I always think about how skillful you were in preparing them!
The village this year has a very happy Tet because the rice crop has been harvested, and people have finished planting corn and beans, leaving them with enough time to prepare for the holiday.
Before I end, I want to wish you both a joyful and healthy New Year so that my parents and I can work and study in peace. We look forward to visiting you soon.
Your granddaughter,
Hằng Phương

9. Letter to a family member wishing a Happy New Year - Version 2
Dear Aunt Mai,
It's been a while since I last saw you, and I miss you so much!
How have you been lately? I hope Uncle Chương is doing well too. Don’t forget to eat well so that “little Nhím” can grow up strong. Over here, everything is normal with our family. Little Vân has become much more obedient now. When Mom calls her in the morning to go to school, she gets up right away, without being stubborn like before. I also just finished my math competition online at the provincial level. I was tired that day, so I didn’t do my best, but I promise to do better next year.
Aunt, I remember last year when I visited Vinh, and Uncle Chương took us to the supermarket. I had the chance to taste some delicious dishes from Vinh City. It was such a wonderful experience!
The letter is getting long, so I’ll stop here. I wish you, Uncle Chương, and little Nhím good health. I can’t wait for the summer holidays to come quickly so I can visit you in Vinh!
Your niece,
Lê Thị Mai Chi

10. New Year's Letter to Relatives - Number 3
Town, Date
Dear Grandmother!
This is Thùy Linh, your little granddaughter. It's been almost a year since I last visited you. Oh, Grandmother, time has flown by. My father often travels for work, and my mother is busy with her job at the office. The roads are also far, which makes it difficult for us to visit you. We miss you so much, but we must wait for a better time. Please don’t be mad at my parents, Grandmother!
Grandmother, on the occasion of the new year – the Year of the Dragon – I wish you good health and a long life with us.
How are you feeling, Grandmother? I hope you’re eating well. Is Uncle Thái, Brother Bình, and Sister An still visiting you often? They’re lucky they live close by. They can visit anytime they want. We, on the other hand… Oh, the distance is so far. I still remember last summer when you took me and little Thảo Linh to the garden to pick those sweet fruits and we sat under the tree, enjoying the shade and eating them.
The sweet and fragrant fruits from the South were so delicious, and you peeled them for us so carefully. You always saved the best for us, your two distant granddaughters. You said: 'I always keep the best fruits for you two because you only come back once every few years. I wish I had wings to fly to you and relieve this longing.'
Now, all I can do is wait for the next summer vacation. Only then can we come back to visit you. Sorry for writing so much, Grandmother. I’ll stop here and send you many kisses.
Your Granddaughter
Thùy Linh
