1. VIETNAM FIGHTS THE PANDEMIC
Recently, the WHO declared
The pandemic… oh, the fear it brings.
From cities to the countryside,
Everyone is afraid the virus will arrive.
From Iran to Italy,
Everywhere the virus seems unpredictable.
Vietnam responded swiftly,
Not allowing COVID to spread.
Tourist sites and restaurants
Closed their doors to rich and poor alike.
Students have been out of class for a while,
Switching to online lessons instead.
The number of cases has been correctly reported,
Quarantines and control measures are the effective remedy.
Police and the military are always ready,
Isolating and containing the virus day and night.
Remember, friends, don't forget
The healthcare workers on the frontlines.
They’ve been there for many days,
They are the warriors facing great challenges.
Thanks to the Prime Minister's determination,
The virus is like an invading army, but the whole nation is ready.
We must fight this enemy swiftly,
And keep the pandemic from entering our doors.
Many days, several months have passed,
Our nation's pandemic response is quite impressive.
The leadership is quick and decisive,
Like generals in a war command center.
Thank you to the central government,
Thank you to the local authorities and many industries.
Thanks to the philanthropists
Who’ve contributed to our national victory.
Though there are still worries,
Our initial success against the virus has been uplifting.
Though challenges remain ahead,
The virus cannot stop the determination of the people.
With the passion of our people,
We are determined to defeat the virus… the wonderful Vietnam.

2. THE LOVE OF VIETNAMESE PEOPLE
Words from the heart
Of friends who survived the virus
Returning to peaceful lands
Bring tears to my eyes.
Such compassion is rare,
Without regard for nationality,
Whether young, old, male, or female,
Saving lives is the highest calling!
There are countless stories
Of doctors like loving mothers,
Braving every danger
Far from their parents, spouses, and children,
Putting others' lives above all else!
You said it’s etched in your heart:
Vietnam’s love is endless,
Giving everything to save lives.
Thank you, friends,
For standing by Vietnam,
Together, we will defeat the pandemic
And keep our planet safe!

3. THE FLOWER OF HAPPINESS
Holding my mother's hand, tears welling up:
“Please help take care of the children
So many patients are waiting
For us to save them!”
The hospital is a battlefield
Doctors are soldiers
The fight never stops
Saving lives day and night!
Mother, my heart aches
The eyes of so many patients
Filled with longing and hope:
“Please save us, sister!”
At night, during shift change, I rest my eyes
Hearing my daughter's voice:
“Mom, why are you gone so long?”
The pain in my heart is overwhelming!
How could I be indifferent, Mother?
It’s impossible to count or measure
Without considering the cost
In this blazing battlefield!
Behind me is the rear guard
Sending their unwavering support
With gifts from all over
Helping us stay strong
Even with death at our side!
Then joy floods in
After three weeks of treatment
Three negative test results
Three patients revived!
When they left the hospital
And returned to their loved ones
Tears streamed down their faces:
“A thousand thanks, Vietnam!”
Mother, I’m home!
After all the days of longing
Bringing a bouquet of Happiness
Filled with the love of Humanity
To my beloved Mother!

4. THE BLOOD OF VIETNAM
I have heard
The heartbeat of my homeland
Heavy with worry, bracing against the pandemic
I have heard
The footsteps of those who thought they'd reached the end
But suddenly, it’s a distant dream...
I deeply respect my colleagues
The beads of sweat
Staining their mask marks
In negative pressure rooms,
Fully covered in protective suits
They are the hope
For every patient in this life-or-death struggle...
I have heard
Across the borderlands, the trails, and the paths
At each quarantine checkpoint
Are the footprints of the soldiers
They keep the country at peace,
Without hesitation
Rice balls, exhausted sleep, tarps, and the elements...
I have heard
After the plane lands at the airport
Thousands of sons and daughters from all over flock back
To the motherland
This is how our compassionate homeland is,
Even with a rebellious child, it embraces them
For we know that
The years abroad may seem like paradise, but aren’t without loneliness...
I have seen
And my heart almost broke
When the volunteers collapsed on the road
After finishing their work
The patients were finally sleeping peacefully
But these sisters and brothers were utterly drained...
I have seen
Our homeland awake
Over ninety million hearts beating as one
Detecting, isolating
Stopping the virus from spreading
United as one family, under Mother’s care.
I have seen
Many young heroes
Joining hands with the nation through their deeds
For the blood running through our veins carries the name Vietnam
Let us cherish this pride and love!

5. THE PANDEMIC WILL PASS, BUT THE SONGS WILL REMAIN
“A hurried nap, a mat on the floor
Breathing through a mask, wrapped in protective gear
He lies there, she lies there… - after long, tiring night shifts
Their journeys filled with the spirit of service
When the country calls, we join hands
Some contribute money, others offer silent efforts
A small but sincere donation
Helping each other through the tough moments with love
A restful sleep filled with the scent of dawn
Waking up today – the angels of Vietnam
A battlefield without guns
Steady hearts and optimism.
Sending a million thanks to all the frontliners
The white-clad soldiers on the front lines of the pandemic
These warriors selflessly serving the people so that the days of quarantine are filled with happiness
The drivers, sanitation workers, border guards...
We can’t count all the thousands who contributed their time and effort
But we know the whole nation is united in gratitude and appreciation
The country may be economically poor, but its heart is rich in love and compassion
The happiness of one is the happiness of the whole nation.
The pandemic will pass
But the songs will remain
A song about those who lived their lives like a flower, making each day fragrant
Under the sun, the petals of calm hearts unfold.”

6. WHOSE DESTINY IS IT TO CHOOSE SUFFERING?
My heart aches for those lost souls
On Motherland's soil, returning from a midnight flight
They know the risks, but can they do anything else?
For the profession chose them, it's not always serene.
The guests have gone home, yet I remain troubled
In the quarantine, bewildered and unsure
Who knows that I have a child at home
And elderly parents to care for in the quiet moments?
No need for boasting, for I work on the frontlines
The winds of fortune and hardship both come
When it’s time to go, I must, for flying is my life
Wherever duty calls, I am ready to serve.
Like everyone else, I only wish for the end of the pandemic
I pray for the safety of these angelic wings
So that tomorrow the skies will be blue again
And I’ll fly back under the warm rays of spring.

7. A SOLDIER'S WIFE SPEAKS FROM THE FRONTLINE
“Has it been two months already, dear?
Two months without you coming to visit mother
The small house, the gentle breeze flows through the cracks
Mother misses you so much, keeps wandering in and out.
The weekend meal is missing father’s presence
Our child asks me: When will father come home?
The innocent question, so pure from a child
Mother quickly wipes away the tears with a smile.
This battle against the pandemic is so tough, isn't it, dear?
Controlling the border paths, setting up roadblocks
Disinfecting, treating incoming travelers
As you fight on the front lines, sacrifice is inevitable.
What price must we pay for peace?
This afternoon I received news that your comrades are exhausted
The meals in the forest, sleeping on the ground
The border so far from home, from mother, from father.
But I know our beloved Vietnam
Is where the trust in victory lies
Looking at you, I feel secure
This battle will surely be won, my love!
Our fellow citizens are returning
There will be those who complain, who show hatred
But don't be upset, don't get angry, my dear!
Because in the sea of people returning
Only a few will act this way
We, the Vietnamese, are compassionate and kind-hearted
They will understand, there’s no need to explain much.
How much love we have for our people
In the midst of the storm, human kindness remains unchanged
They will understand and turn towards goodness
So don’t be sad, don’t be angry, my dear!
Rest assured, our home will remain safe
I will care for mother and the children
I only miss you, but it is a deep longing
The steadfast courage of a soldier's wife on the front lines.”

8. SILENTLY, THE MEDICAL PROFESSION
Dr. Lê Hoàng Tú - Hà Đông General Hospital (Collected)
What can I write about the twenty-seventh of February
When for days, we all think about Wuhan!
When people are struggling in adversity,
Whether China or we, we share the same bloodline.
What can I write, about doctors like Li,
Who risk everything for the road ahead.
Like Doctor Hoa, who never had the chance to marry,
Because of the people, he couldn’t save himself.
What do I see, when every morning I hear news
That so many healthcare workers are infected
Countless pristine white coats fall in the heart of the epidemic
For our homeland, for life, the “gift of life”!
In these days, as our country and yours
We all feel lost, uncertain, and cautious
Yet, we remain on the front lines
Unafraid of the dangers, to ensure our country’s peace.
What can I write when each morning breaks
As the rooster crows and birds sing out loud...
People wake up after a peaceful night’s rest
Little do they know, we've been awake since the evening!
After a long day, no matter where we go
Everyone is happy to return to their homes
But I am still here, along with so many lives
While you sleep, I stay awake, waiting...
Oh, these long days are so difficult
But they are also full of glory and happiness
I don’t know how many tears have been shed,
And how many laughs echo,
When my friends save patients from the jaws of death.
You stay home, taking my place,
Caring for our parents and raising the children
Even though it means you feel lonely at night,
When friends are together, and I am not there.
But you believe, it will soon, very soon
That the pandemic will end, and we will reunite
Because no matter how hard it gets, it cannot defeat
Human love and compassion.
In this lifetime, whether joy or sorrow
Life and death are but a fleeting dream
Whether to choose the bustling life or sacrifice for survival
It only differs by a moment's thought.
There will be a day to remember the medical profession
Those who silently sacrifice for the happiness of all families.
Though there is no monument to honor them
It is etched deep in the hearts of millions!

10. WARRIORS IN WHITE COATS
He is doing fine here, love
Not worrying about money, the competition, or the losses
Recently, I heard people are fighting for what they can get
Hoarding food for themselves...
He welcomed people back from the epicenter of the pandemic just as dawn broke
To make sure the smiles on their faces always shine bright
It's not just him, but the whole nation is trying
Fulfilling their duty to the community, not counting on personal gain.
He told me – he feels sad
When some people put their personal interests above all else
Yes, the danger of Covid is real
But what’s even scarier is the loss of empathy and solidarity among us.
If everyone could just give up a little of their ego
(No need for grand gestures)
Then our country wouldn’t just be fighting a pandemic
We wouldn’t also have to fight the heartlessness and selfishness in people's hearts.
Don’t ask why he remains cheerful despite the danger
It's not because he’s a doctor
No matter who he is, he stays optimistic
My love.
Being alive is a blessing
But it’s not about living for oneself at any cost...
Returning to school after the pandemic break to meet the students
You will tell the children about simple, everyday things
About the work of the warriors
Wearing white coats...!
