Despite this impressive growth, Xpander dropped 3 spots to rank 4th in the top 10 best-sellers for June. In the first half of 2023, its total sales reached 7,982 units, down 4.1% from the same period last year (8,324 units). The Xpander is available in 4 versions: MT, AT, AT Premium, and Xpander Cross, all featuring a 1.5L engine. The price of the Xpander ranges from 555 million VND, with the newly launched Xpander Cross priced at 698 million VND. The Mitsubishi Xpander remains a strong contender in the compact MPV segment in Vietnam, as the brand continues to innovate to meet customer needs.
The variety of versions and affordable pricing make the Xpander an appealing choice in a highly competitive car market.


2. Mazda CX-5 - 1,246 units
The Mazda CX-5 is a standout model from the Mazda brand in the Vietnamese market, maintaining its strong position by ranking 5th among the top 10 best-selling cars in June 2023.
The Mazda CX-5 achieved a remarkable milestone, selling 1,246 units in June 2023, marking a 37% increase compared to the previous month. Notably, the sales of the Mazda CX-5 have been consistently rising throughout the first half of 2023, with a total of 5,423 units sold so far. Its success in June 2023 highlights the positive customer response. Additionally, the 2023 Mazda CX-5 launched with three key variants: Deluxe, Luxury, and Premium, which has also captured customer interest. The new version of the Mazda CX-5 2023 features improved design and enhanced features for added convenience.
The price for each variant is 749 million VND, 789 million VND, and 829 million VND, respectively. Customers who choose the Premium version can also opt for two additional packages: Sport (20 million VND) or Exclusive (40 million VND).


3. VinFast VF 8 - 1,184 units
VinFast VF 8 is the first electric vehicle model making significant strides in the automotive market. VF 8 is part of the electric SUV category, competing with models like the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Tesla Model Y.
In June, VF 8 sold 1,184 units, a slight 7% decrease from the previous month's 1,274 units. Notably, the cumulative sales for the first half of 2023 reached an impressive 4,555 units. This is a remarkable achievement for an electric vehicle still in its early development stage. In Vietnam, the VF 8 is available in two versions: Eco and Plus, with prices starting at 1.129 billion VND for the Eco version without a battery, and 1.459 billion VND with a battery, or 1.309 billion VND for the Plus version without a battery, and 1.639 billion VND with a battery.
The standout feature of the VF 8 is its warranty: a 10-year/125,000-mile overall coverage and a 10-year unlimited mileage warranty on the battery, ensuring peace of mind regarding reliability during the startup phase.


4. VinFast VF e34 - 1,007 units
VinFast VF e34 is a compact electric vehicle that debuted in late 2021, quickly gaining popularity in Vietnam’s electric car market.
In June 2023, the VinFast VF e34 recorded 1,007 units sold, reflecting a slight 5% increase compared to the previous month's 960 units. This steady growth highlights the appeal of the VF e34 in the Vietnamese market. With its strong performance in June, the VF e34 maintained its leading position, with a total of 5,072 units sold in the first half of 2023. This impressive sales figure contributed to the overall electric vehicle sales by VinFast, which reached 3,155 units in June and 11,638 units in the first half of the year.
The VF e34 is available in only one variant, priced at 690 million VND (excluding the battery), targeting customers seeking an affordable electric vehicle in the compact segment.


5. Kia Sonet - 960 units
Kia Sonet is a compact SUV from Kia, making a powerful comeback in the Vietnamese automotive market.
After a few months away from the list of top-selling cars, the Kia Sonet has returned with impressive performance in recent months. In June, it sold 960 units, marking an 11% increase from the previous month. This strong growth has helped the Kia Sonet maintain solid sales throughout the first half of 2023, with a total of 4,436 units sold. The model has gained considerable attention and positive feedback from Vietnamese consumers. Positioned in the A+ SUV segment, the Sonet sits just below the Kia Seltos in the B-segment. Its compact, dynamic, and modern design reflects the youthful and stylish character of this vehicle.
The Kia Sonet is available in 4 variants, including one manual version and three automatic versions. Prices range from 499 million VND to 609 million VND, depending on the version and additional options.


6. Toyota Veloz Cross - 872 units sold
The Toyota Veloz Cross is a versatile 7-seater MPV from the Avanza line, which made a strong impression on the Vietnamese car market in June 2023.
Ranked ninth in the top 10 best-selling cars of the month, the Veloz Cross sold a total of 872 units. This marks the model's return to the top 10 after two months of absence. With a remarkable 48% increase in sales compared to the previous month, the Veloz Cross has proven its appeal and consumer interest. One key factor contributing to its popularity is the competitive pricing. In July 2023, the Veloz Cross was priced at 658 million VND with on-road prices ranging from 696 million VND in Ho Chi Minh City to 721 million VND in Hanoi. The 50% reduction in registration tax starting July 1, 2023, further enhanced its attractiveness.
Additionally, Toyota's decision to locally assemble the Veloz Cross instead of importing it from Indonesia has helped reduce costs and strengthen its competitive edge.


7. Kia Seltos - 803 units sold
Kia Seltos is a B-segment crossover from the Kia brand, known for its stability and impressive growth in the Vietnamese car market.
Ranking last in the top 10 best-selling cars of June 2023, the Kia Seltos achieved 803 units sold. The model saw an impressive 78% increase in sales, rising from 450 units in May to 803 units in June. In the first half of 2023, the Seltos sold a total of 3,304 units, marking a significant achievement in the B-segment crossover category. It continues to be locally assembled by THACO, offering three variants: Deluxe, Luxury, and Premium, each with two engine options, 1.4L turbo or 1.6L, providing consumers with a variety of choices to suit their personal needs.
With its attractive design and user-friendly features, the Seltos has captured the attention of many buyers. It remains a strong competitor in the B-segment crossover market.


8. Toyota Vios - 1,949 units sold
In the final month of Q2 this year, Toyota Vios regained its position as the "segment leader" thanks to a remarkable surge in sales.
According to the data, in June 2023, the Toyota Vios sold a total of 1,949 units, an increase of 1,363 units compared to the previous month (May 2023), when sales stood at just 586 units. This represents an impressive 233% growth over the previous month. The success of the Toyota Vios in June 2023 can be attributed to the release of an upgraded version of the model in May of the same year. The slight price reduction, along with improved comfort features and enhanced safety technologies, attracted significant interest from consumers. With three versions available—G CVT (592 million VND), E CVT (528 million VND), and E MT (479 million VND)—the Toyota Vios offers a range of options tailored to various customer needs and budgets.
For the first half of 2023, the Toyota Vios achieved a total of 5,425 units sold, securing the second spot in its segment with a 23.4% market share, just behind the Hyundai Accent, which sold 7,452 units and commanded 32.2% of the market.


9. Ford Ranger - 1,585 units sold
Ford Ranger has long been a key player in Vietnam's automotive market. With a wide range of configurations, a rugged design, and modern features, it continues to strengthen its position as one of the top-selling vehicles in the country.
In June 2023, Ford Ranger had a remarkable performance, selling 1,585 units. This figure includes both imported and locally assembled vehicles, propelling the model 5 spots higher compared to the previous month. It is also worth noting that the pickup truck market in Vietnam experienced a positive growth of 53.1% in June, with 1,827 units sold. The Ford Ranger led the segment, selling 6.5 times more than all other pickups combined, further highlighting its strong appeal. This impressive growth was not limited to June; in the first half of 2023, the Ford Ranger sold a total of 7,600 units, reflecting an 18.1% increase over the same period in 2022, underscoring its steady growth.
With 7 variants priced between 665 million VND and 979 million VND, the Ford Ranger offers a range of options to meet the diverse needs of consumers.


10. Hyundai Accent - 1,539 units sold
Hyundai Accent is a B-segment sedan that continues to solidify its dominant position in the Vietnamese automotive market. In June 2023, the Hyundai Accent sold a total of 1,539 units, securing the third spot in the top 10 best-selling cars of the month.
Although Hyundai Accent's sales saw a significant 67% increase from the previous month, reaching 1,539 units and becoming the best-seller for the brand, it still lagged behind the Toyota Vios by two spots. This indicates the intense competition within the B-segment sedan category in Vietnam. By the end of June 2023, Hyundai Accent had sold a total of 7,452 units, maintaining its position as the leader in the affordable sedan segment. The model is available in 4 versions, with prices ranging from 426 million VND to 542 million VND. Looking ahead, Hyundai is expected to launch a new generation of the Accent to meet the growing interest and expectations from consumers.
Automakers are actively updating and enhancing this model to stay competitive in an SUV-dominated market.
