1. New Thăng Long Bridge
The New Thăng Long Bridge will connect the Bắc Từ Liêm district with Đông Anh district. Located adjacent to the existing Thăng Long Bridge, it will be built parallel to the current bridge and is part of the Red River urban planning scheme.
Currently, the Thăng Long Bridge has two levels: the upper level with four lanes for vehicles and the lower level with two lanes for non-motorized vehicles. Spanning 2 kilometers, the New Thăng Long Bridge will follow the Ring Road 3 route and is expected to be constructed after 2030. It will play a significant role in enhancing connectivity between Bắc Từ Liêm and Đông Anh districts, as well as surrounding areas along the Red River.


2. Tứ Liên Bridge
The fifth spot goes to the Tứ Liên Bridge. This 2.924 km long bridge will feature a 1 km main span with a cross-section plan to accommodate 6 lanes for vehicles, 2 mixed lanes, and 2 pedestrian lanes. The bridge will start at the Nghi Tàm junction and end at the intersection with National Highway 5. The design will feature a cable-stayed bridge with a twisted structure, with an estimated investment of 17,000 billion VND.
This bridge will be a crucial connection for Đông Anh and surrounding areas, as well as linking the central Hanoi area. It will provide an important connection between the major urban roads on both sides of the Red River, particularly linking the Tây Hồ area with Đông Anh district.


3. Trần Hưng Đạo Bridge
The Trần Hưng Đạo Bridge is approximately 5.5 km long with 6 lanes for vehicles, crossing the Red River with a total investment of around 9,000 billion VND. The project will be funded equally by the government and a BOT investor, with an estimated payback period of 20 years.
This bridge will connect the Hoàn Kiếm district with Long Biên district, positioned between the Chương Dương and Vĩnh Tuy bridges. It will have a width of 31 meters, including 6 lanes for vehicles and 2 pedestrian walkways, designed for a speed of 80 km/h. Once completed, it will help alleviate the traffic load on the Chương Dương and Vĩnh Tuy bridges.


4. Vĩnh Tuy 2 Bridge
The Vĩnh Tuy 2 Bridge is one of the key bridges across the Red River currently under construction as part of the 10 new bridges project. Located next to the original Vĩnh Tuy Bridge, this bridge has a total investment of 2,500 billion VND. The Vĩnh Tuy 2 Bridge is km long, 19.25 meters wide, and features four lanes for vehicles. It is being built on the downstream side of the Red River, with a design and structure similar to the first Vĩnh Tuy Bridge, and is expected to be completed within three years from its groundbreaking.
The bridge will connect Trần Quang Khải, Nguyễn Khoái, and Minh Khai streets (Hai Bà Trưng district) with Long Biên and Thạch Bàn streets (Long Biên district). Once finished, Vĩnh Tuy 2 will be a vital transportation link for the southeastern gateway of Hanoi and will be the first bridge in the city to feature a dedicated bus lane.


5. Ngọc Hồi Bridge
The Ngọc Hồi Bridge is a major project aimed at boosting the economic and social development of the surrounding areas, connecting the Thanh Trì and Gia Lâm districts of Hanoi. Once operational, it is expected to alleviate the severe traffic congestion in the region.
The bridge will begin at the Ring Road intersection with National Road 6 (Quang Trung, Hà Đông) and end at the intersection with Pháp Vân – Cầu Giẽ Road. This section will connect with the Ngọc Hồi Bridge across the Red River, extending into Gia Lâm. Once constructed, the Ngọc Hồi Bridge will significantly enhance connectivity and stimulate the property market in the southern areas, particularly Thanh Trì district.


6. Mễ Sở Bridge
The Mễ Sở Bridge will span the Red River, connecting the Văn Giang district in Hưng Yên province with the Thường Tín district in Hanoi, as part of the Ring Road 4. The bridge will be over 13 km long, with a total investment of approximately 4,881 billion VND. The project will begin at the intersection of National Road 1A and Ring Road 4, and end at the junction of the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway and Ring Road 4. The bridge and connecting roads will stretch nearly 14 km.
Once completed, the Mễ Sở Bridge will offer a new route for vehicles traveling between central Hanoi and Văn Giang, replacing the previous route via the Thanh Trì Bridge. It will also provide a vital link between the Pháp Vân - Cầu Giẽ and Hanoi - Hai Phong expressways, helping to reduce traffic congestion in downtown Hanoi.


7. Phú Xuyên Bridge
The Phú Xuyen Bridge, spanning 5 km, is expected to be built between 2020 and 2025. The bridge will connect the Phú Xuyên district in Hanoi with Khoái Châu district in Hưng Yên. Although the specific construction timeline is yet to be confirmed, the project is estimated to require an investment of nearly 5,000 billion VND.
Part of the Red River area development plan, this bridge is anticipated to ease traffic congestion, reduce accidents, stimulate economic growth, and encourage the development of urban areas along the river. It will also enhance connectivity between Hanoi and Hưng Yên, playing a key role in the region's future development.


8. Vân Phúc Bridge
Vân Phúc Bridge takes the top spot. The bridge and its connecting road to National Route 32 in Phúc Thọ district have received an investment of over 3,400 billion VND, with construction set for 2022-2027. The bridge spans the Red River and connects to a 7.7 km stretch of road leading to National Route 32. Its starting point is at the intersection of National Route 32 in Phụng Thượng, Phúc Thọ, while its endpoint lies at the boundary between Hanoi and Vĩnh Phúc.
The main bridge crossing the river and the elevated road passing over the Vân Cốc reservoir will have a width of 20.5 meters, with 4 lanes for vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motorized transport. The connecting road from National Route 32 to the elevated road over Vân Cốc reservoir will be 32 meters wide, with 6 lanes for vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motorized vehicles. The project is being overseen by Hanoi's Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board.


9. Hồng Hà Bridge
Part of the Capital Region Beltway project, Hồng Hà Bridge spans the Red River, connecting Đan Phượng district with Mê Linh. Construction is set to begin in October this year. The project includes the bridge and a 6 km access road, initially 17.5 meters wide, with plans to expand to 24.5 meters to accommodate 4 lanes for motor vehicles, as well as dedicated lanes for non-motorized transport and motorcycles.
The estimated investment for Hồng Hà Bridge is 9,800 billion VND, with groundbreaking expected in October 2024 and completion by 2027. The bridge will begin in Hồng Hà commune (Đan Phượng) and end in Văn Khê commune (Mê Linh), crossing the Hồng Hà road section near Gia Lễ Pagoda, situated between Bồng Lai village (Hồng Hà commune) and Liên Hồng Secondary School.


10. Thượng Cát Bridge
Thượng Cát Bridge spans the Red River with a total length of approximately 5.2 km, designed with 8 lanes to connect Bắc Từ Liêm district with Đông Anh. The projected investment for the bridge is nearly 8,300 billion VND, funded by Hanoi's city budget.
The Thượng Cát Bridge project features an urban arterial road with a design speed of 80 km/h and ensures 8 lanes, with a bridge width of 33 meters. The total length of the bridge and its access roads on both ends is about 5.2 km, including a main span of 820 meters. The bridge's completion will integrate smoothly into the development of the entire Beltway route.
