1. Alcohol, Beer, and Cigarettes
The culture of drinking has become increasingly common in both social interactions and the workplace. Nowadays, the drinking table has become an essential place for discussing business matters, and it seems almost like an unspoken rule that things become 'easier' when handled in such a setting. However, these drinking sessions can also lead to digestive issues.
When consuming alcohol, beer, or cigarettes, the body’s normal functions, particularly the digestive system, are disrupted. In addition to bloating and indigestion, other symptoms like vomiting and food poisoning may also occur. Therefore, it is recommended to limit their consumption and only use amounts the body can tolerate.

2. Due to Digestive System Diseases
Bloating and gas are common symptoms in daily life, affecting work, daily activities, and overall quality of life. This condition, often caused by excess gas accumulation in the stomach, occurs when there is too much air in the stomach and intestines, and in some cases, the abdomen becomes distended. People suffering from bloating and gas often experience heartburn, acid reflux, burping, nausea, vomiting, a feeling of fullness, discomfort, and sometimes constipation. The discomfort is particularly intense when accompanied by burping, chest pain, and these symptoms often become more noticeable after eating.
Many people experience bloating after meals, and this can occur frequently or repeatedly, indicating the presence of digestive diseases such as gastric ulcers, stomach cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, or constipation. In such cases, it is advisable to visit a doctor for a check-up so they can prescribe a treatment plan and begin treatment as soon as possible, as this may be an early sign of these conditions.

3. Due to Malabsorption
Bloating and gas occur when there is an increase in gas within the digestive tract due to disturbances in the metabolism of carbohydrates or microbial fermentation, primarily by gut bacteria. This leads to bloating and a swollen abdomen, causing discomfort and fullness.
Normally, about 30 minutes after eating, we feel comfortable as the food begins to digest. However, for individuals suffering from bloating and gas, the opposite happens, causing significant abdominal discomfort.
Malabsorption is most common in young children, whose digestive systems are still developing and much weaker compared to adults. This results in the body being unable to absorb nutrients properly. Undigested food gets trapped, leading to bloating, indigestion, poor appetite, rickets, and malnutrition.

4. Due to Disruption in Gut Bacteria
As we know, our digestive system is home to beneficial bacteria that help convert food into nutrients for the body. When the number of these beneficial bacteria decreases, the digestive system struggles to function properly. At this point, you should consider replenishing these bacteria by consuming probiotics, yogurt, and other fruits that support digestion.
The causes of gut bacteria imbalance in adults include poor lifestyle habits and unhealthy living conditions: the digestive system constantly faces attacks, and if you consume unhygienic food, harmful bacteria invade the intestines, outnumbering and overpowering the beneficial ones.

5. Do sử dụng thuốc

6. Do nuốt không khí

7. Due to Stress and Mental Tension
The digestive system is controlled by the enteric nervous system, which communicates with the central nervous system. When stress occurs, the digestive process slows down because the central nervous system reduces blood flow, affecting the digestive muscle contractions and reducing the necessary secretions for digestion. This can lead to stomach issues caused by stress, particularly infections like H. pylori.
Stress can also cause esophageal spasms, increase stomach acid, and lead to indigestion. Anxiety and tension caused by work, studies, or personal life challenges are common contributors to bloating and discomfort. Overworking and excessive stress can negatively impact overall well-being. It’s important to maintain a relaxed mindset and follow a healthy diet to keep your body strong and resilient in facing life’s challenges.

8. Due to Digestive Disorders
Bloating is a symptom related to the digestive system. Although not dangerous, it causes discomfort for the individual. The bloating sensation is due to the increase in gas within the digestive tract, which can result from a disturbance in the metabolism of starches or from the fermentation process of microorganisms, mainly gut bacteria.
Due to disturbances in the motility of the digestive tract, the digestive organs (stomach, intestines) are constantly filled with food that is difficult to digest as usual. The undigested food causes your stomach to feel bloated and uncomfortable. During these times, consider taking probiotics to replenish beneficial bacteria in your gut and help improve your digestion.

9. Irregular, Unscientific Eating Habits
Consuming excessive amounts of starches without having enough enzymes to properly break them down can lead to discomfort. Eating too quickly, not chewing food thoroughly, swallowing hastily (often ingesting air along with food), consuming too much fatty food, spices, or stimulants (alcohol, coffee, cigarettes) are also common causes. Certain foods or spices, such as onions and garlic, can trigger a reflex that causes the lower esophageal sphincter to contract, leading to burping. Additionally, lying down immediately after eating can exacerbate these symptoms.
Abdominal bloating often results from poor eating habits, such as lying down right after meals or not getting enough physical activity. Eating too fast, not chewing food properly, and swallowing hastily all contribute to undigested food, which leads to bloating. It is crucial to take your time during meals, chew food thoroughly, and avoid rushing. This simple practice aids digestion by allowing food to be broken down more effectively.

10. Foods You Eat Daily
Some foods that are rich in fiber, sugar, and resistant starch can lead to bloating and discomfort. While the digestive system can generally handle this, bloating can still cause some discomfort and frustration. Therefore, it's important to pay attention to and research the foods you consume before eating them.
If we consume an excess of starchy foods on a daily basis or eat more than our stomach can process, the body might not have enough enzymes to digest these foods effectively. Furthermore, eating too many fried or greasy foods can also contribute to digestive difficulties. Including more vegetables and fruits, and increasing fiber intake, can help regulate digestion and ease stomach discomfort.
