10. Vegan Fried Ribs
Ingredients:
- Vegan ribs
- Cooking oil
- Seasoning: salt, monosodium glutamate (MSG)
Instructions:
- First, soak the vegan ribs in water until they soften.
- Once softened, squeeze out all the water from the ribs—this step is essential as the drier the ribs, the quicker they will fry. Excess water will cause them to take longer to cook.
- Tear the ribs into small bite-sized pieces and marinate them with salt and MSG.
- After the seasoning has soaked into the ribs, heat a generous amount of oil in a pan. The more oil you use, the less the ribs will absorb. Don’t worry about too much oil, as the ribs will stop absorbing oil once they become crispy. If you use less oil, the ribs will soak up more oil during frying. Wait until the oil is very hot before placing the ribs in the pan.
- Fry the ribs, turning frequently, until both sides are golden and crispy. Then, remove the ribs from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Arrange the crispy ribs on a serving plate, and optionally garnish for a more attractive presentation. Serve with chili sauce or mayonnaise for dipping. These golden, crispy vegan ribs make a perfect snack!
