Mastery in a specific field is much more achievable than trying to be knowledgeable across all disciplines.
Learning is the process of acquiring, seeking, and retaining knowledge and skills. From birth, no one knows everything. Clearly, education plays a vital role in providing knowledge and skills that we are not born with. Additionally, during the process of learning, we develop character and refine our moral values. Through continuous learning, the path to success becomes smoother. Thus, not engaging in learning shows a lack of responsibility toward oneself, family, and society.
It is akin to laziness, which causes stagnation and backwardness. This is not a recent realization; our ancestors recognized the value of learning, offering the advice: “Learn to eat, learn to speak, learn to wrap, learn to open.” Today, in an age of scientific and technological progress, gaining new knowledge has become much easier. Therefore, “not learning” means willingly allowing oneself to fall behind others. Naturally, we should feel ashamed of this.
The statement also draws attention to a wrong behavior: hiding ignorance. If one refuses to confront their gaps in knowledge, they will never strive to improve them. This leads to stagnation rather than progress. What is needed is for individuals to acknowledge what they don't know, allowing them the chance to keep learning. As a student, I know that learning is crucial. I strive to study diligently in class and supplement my knowledge outside of it, so I can continuously expand my understanding. In the future, I want to feel proud of my unwavering commitment to learning.
From the analysis above, it’s clear that the viewpoint is accurate. While we may not feel ashamed of not knowing, we should certainly feel ashamed if we refuse to learn.
