1. Du Sinh Church
The name of this ancient church likely piqued the curiosity of many visitors. According to the interpretation by Father Buu Duong, the founder of the Du Sinh Parish, the name 'Du Sinh' means Joseph. Some also believe that 'Du Sinh' refers to the origin of the local residents, who lived like nomads, always moving from place to place. Others think 'Du Sinh' symbolizes the Christian journey through life on earth.
Du Sinh Church is nestled on a hill along Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street in Da Lat. The church was built by Father Thien Phong Buu Duong for Catholic migrants who arrived from the North in 1955. It was officially consecrated on Christmas 1957, with the bell tower completed in 1962.
When the church was first constructed, Father Buu Duong mentioned it as a temporary structure, as his dream was to build a church with distinct Eastern architectural features. However, shortly after, Father Buu Duong was transferred, and the dream was never realized. The church has since been preserved and remains one of the must-see landmarks in Da Lat.

3. Thien Lam Parish
Thien Lam Parish is located about 2 kilometers from downtown Da Lat and is becoming a popular tourist attraction in the area. One of the main draws of Thien Lam Parish is its rich history. Originally part of the Sacred Heart Parish, it was established under the name Thien Lam in 1975 by Bishop Bartholomew Nguyen Son Lam, who appointed Father Joseph Tran Minh Tien as its first parish priest. The name 'Thien Lam' was created by combining the names of Da Thien Parish and Bishop Bartholomew, as a tribute to its origins.
With over 32 years of history, the parish is now a site filled with historical significance and spiritual beauty. A key feature is the impressive collection of statues, including representations of Saint Peter, Saint Paul, Bishop Cassaigne, Father Dac Lo, poet Han Mac Tu, and a thoughtful statue of Jesus meditating in the desert. These add to the unique, peaceful atmosphere that blends both European and Vietnamese influences, creating a distinct experience for visitors.
The architectural design of Thien Lam Parish is also a highlight. The church features nine floors with circular and square shapes that represent the sky and earth, in line with Vietnamese cultural symbolism. Each floor is spaced 2.5 meters apart, with balconies offering stunning views of Da Lat city. From the top floor, 36 meters above ground, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the city, including the Da Lat Cathedral, the Ngũ Hành buildings of Da Lat University, and Langbian Mountain in the distance.
From a distance, the church’s design resembles two Langbian peaks, a characteristic of Da Lat’s highland landscape. The two elevated red roofs are particularly striking on clear days when the Langbian mountain range is visible behind. The entire scene feels like a picture-perfect landscape, leaving visitors with a lingering sense of wonder as they depart.

5. Van Thanh Church
The name "Van Thanh" remains somewhat mysterious, with no clear origin or known date of establishment. Located in the southwest of Da Lat, Van Thanh is one of the more distant parishes from the city center. The church's founding is closely tied to the events of 1954. On October 28, 1955, Father Jacob Dao Huu Tho of the Congregation of the Mission (DCCT), while studying at the DCCT seminary in Da Lat, led 20 representatives from 20 families temporarily residing at Sacred Heart Parish of Hoa Nai to the Cam Ly plantation in search of farmland. Most of these families had previously lived in Bút Thượng Parish, Hanoi, and were under Father Tho's pastoral care.
Upon arrival in Da Lat, the plantation owner allowed them to settle and cultivate land. Spiritually, Father Tho helped them join the Kim Thach community, then under the care of Father Peter Vu Tri Tri. On June 15, 1958, due to the distance, Father Tho arranged for them to join Du Sinh Parish, under the care of Father Buu Duong and Father John Nguyen Kim Gon. However, because of the remote location, the community longed for a chapel to worship in. On St. Joseph's Day in 1959, they began construction, and by the beginning of the Flower Festival that year, the chapel was completed. They joyfully chose Christ the King as their patron and Our Lady of Perpetual Help as their protector.
Since then, Van Thanh has steadily grown, living up to its name. On Christ the King Day in 1961, the community was deeply moved when Bishop Simon Hoa Nguyen Van Hien visited to celebrate Mass and offer words of encouragement. By early 1964, under Father Rocco Tran Phuc Long, more families arrived, bringing the population from over 100 to 218, and the chapel was expanded.
On June 8, 1975, Father Andre Nguyen Van Thanh became the parish priest, and on April 4, 1976, Father Tong Dinh Qui was appointed as the assistant priest. In 1978, the church underwent renovation and added a sanctuary. By September 1991, Father Nguyen Van Thanh was responsible for both Minh Gioi and Van Thanh parishes.
With the support of the diocese and direct guidance from the responsible priests, Van Thanh is now a parish that exemplifies a balanced life of faith and community. The church itself has a simple yet distinctive architectural style that makes it a welcoming place for visitors, offering a sense of closeness and comfort.

7. Our Lady of Da Lat Church
Our Lady of Da Lat Church is located at 89 Thanh Mau, Ward 7, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province. It was inaugurated in the spring of 1964 under the title of the Immaculate Conception. The story behind the church's construction and its transformation into a popular tourist destination is not widely known.
Originally, this area was the site of a parish located at the 6-kilometer mark along the Suoi Vang Road. The parish began in the autumn of 1955 when a group of approximately 400 Catholic families purchased the land to settle and live, under the guidance of Father Phêrô Mạnh Trọng Bích. Despite facing numerous challenges during their early years, both the priests and parishioners persisted, working tirelessly to build the church, ultimately resulting in the impressive structure we see today.
Our Lady of Da Lat Church is a robust and solid building, spanning more than 1,200 square meters. It is situated on a high hill slope, displaying the classic characteristics of Western architecture. The church stands out magnificently against the backdrop of the lush mountains and the vast, clear blue sky.
The design is not overly ornate, and it does not feature excessive decorative elements. Instead, Our Lady of Da Lat Church is marked by soft, refreshing shades of pink, highlighted by a tall, striking bell tower. While the design is simple, each element is captivating in its own right. This simplicity is part of the charm, and it is no wonder that visitors, especially the younger crowd, love to take photos here, creating lasting memories of their visit.

8. Cathedral (Rooster Church)
The Cathedral, commonly referred to by locals as the Rooster Church (due to the rooster-shaped lightning rod atop the bell tower), was initiated in 1931 and completed in 1942. It was originally dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Bari, but later renamed to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God. The architectural design follows a classical, symmetrical style, measuring 65 meters in length and 14 meters in width, with a bell tower reaching a height of 47 meters.
The Cathedral enjoys a prime location, though it does not directly overlook Xuan Huong Lake. Its bell tower, however, is visible from almost any point along the lake's shore due to its height. The main entrance of the church faces directly toward Mount Lang Biang. The roof is adorned with 70 colorful stained-glass panels (crafted in France), depicting scenes from the Gospel and portraits of various saints, adding to the church's majestic and ethereal atmosphere. The walls feature bas-reliefs (measuring 1x0.8 meters) created by sculptor Xuan Thi. The church grounds are enclosed by a protective fence, making this an architectural gem and an important religious site for the diocese and the Da Lat parish.

9. Cam Ly Church
Cam Ly Church was built between 1959 and 1967, inspired by French priest Boutary's vision of a sacred place for both God and Yàng. The design of Cam Ly Church is a blend of cultural integration, combining Christian worship with the respect for Yàng. The church is crowned with a towering roof, 17 meters high, made from 80,000 traditional leaf-shaped tiles, weighing a total of 90 tons. From afar, it looks like a giant axe suspended across the sky, symbolizing the tools and weapons of the indigenous people of the Central Highlands. The primary structure is reinforced by concrete pillars, with an unplastered ceiling and 40cm thick stone walls. Above these, a row of colorful glass windows adds beauty. The columns are 3 meters tall, and 20 x 50 cm wide, securely connecting the wooden trusses that span an impressive 12 meters. To install such a steep roof, workers painstakingly threaded wire through 80,000 flat tiles, securing them in place. This method has given the roof a weathered, timeless appearance.
The church's layout is simple and rectangular, covering an area of 324 square meters. One-third of the space is dedicated to the altar, and the remaining two-thirds is for the congregation. The walls of the church are made of 2-meter-high stone blocks, with stained-glass windows in shades of green, brown, and yellow. The light streaming through the windows creates a mystical atmosphere, with square and triangular designs symbolizing the moon and sun. The window frames are adorned with intricate ethnic patterns. The altar is made from aged pine and measures 4 meters long and 1 meter wide. Below the cross, three buffalo horns—used in local rituals—decorate the stone wall, and a vent above features ethnic-inspired motifs.
Over half a century later, Cam Ly Church still retains its original beauty. Visitors not only marvel at the architecture but also feel the warmth from the nuns who have devoted their lives to nurturing impoverished children of the ethnic minorities in Da Lat, making this place a spiritual refuge.

10. Domaine de Marie Church
When visiting Da Lat, alongside iconic spots like Xuan Huong Lake, the Love Valley, and Prenn Falls, tourists cannot miss the Domaine de Marie Church, located on Ngo Quyen Street, just 1km southwest of the city center. This church was designed in the European architectural style of the 17th century, fused with some traditional Vietnamese elements. This unique architectural combination sets it apart from other churches in Da Lat, giving it a distinct charm.
The porch is designed as an equilateral triangle, topped with a cross, and adorned with small arch-shaped windows resembling daggers. A rose window, a typical feature of French churches from the late 17th century, is prominently placed near the top of the façade. The roof structure resembles the longhouses of the indigenous peoples of the Central Highlands. The walls are made from split stone, reaching up to the window sills, following the Normandy architectural style (from northern France). The lower part of the walls is quite thick, and the windows are set deep into the walls, creating a striking play of light and shadow on the sides of the building, making the structure even more impressive and unique. Since its completion, the church has been painted in a striking deep pink lime wash, which, under the sunlight, makes the church shine brightly, giving it a magical, fairy-tale appearance.
Initially, the church did not have a bell tower, but it now includes one, positioned behind the main building, with a small bell. Behind the church is a modern architectural complex consisting of three three-story buildings for the Sisters of Charity, surrounding a lush inner garden. These buildings are painted yellow, with red-tiled roofs. The church grounds are adorned with a variety of colorful flowers, especially the Hải Tiên flower. This modern extension behind the church enhances the overall grandeur and reverence of the site.
The church's unique architecture is a result of the blending of Western classicism and the indigenous style of the Central Highlands' ethnic minorities. This combination has made Domaine de Marie Church one of the most popular tourist destinations in Da Lat. If you're planning a trip to Da Lat, be sure to visit this one-of-a-kind architectural gem.
