1. Long An
Oh, the fields of rice, a reflection of the soul,
The vast skies stretching, bringing memories of Long An.
A region of Đồng Tháp, so clear and bright,
A homeland where winds blow under the hot sun.
The river mirrors the blue sky above,
Carrying the love of the land with its fertile waters.
Vàm Cỏ River, the subject of a poem,
The Mỹ Lợi Bridge, where dreams are shared.
Now, the bridge connects the shores,
Cần Giuộc, Cần Đước, and Gò Công are united.
Men and women, hearts intertwined,
In spring, a sweetness lingers, endlessly sweet.
On the bridge, we gaze at the vast sky,
The river, loyal and pure, a single shade of green.

2. Long An - My Beloved Homeland
My homeland, with its endless rice fields,
The Vam Co River flows, bringing fertile silt.
Gazing at the vast skies and lands,
Long An, my beloved, holds deep ties to my heart.
Here is the small bridge, the dike...
My homeland, where promises are etched deep,
Someday, no matter where I go,
Returning to my old home, I’ll remember the affection.
Recalling each morning's dawn,
The Vam River awakens, shimmering in the pink light.
I remember the days of bathing in the river,
Remembering the carefree days, every moment spent.
Remembering the one with the innocent blue eyes,
Remembering the one with the white dress flying in the schoolyard.
Remembering someone, remembering my homeland...
Does my homeland understand? Who knows? Who feels?
My homeland is like a flying kite...
Allowing me to wander, lost in the evening breeze,
My homeland, where my mother’s love runs deep,
It taught me the many wrongs I’ve learned.
My homeland is the silhouette of someone,
It makes me understand the bitterness of life...
How much I love my homeland, oh who would know?
If you miss it, please return to the Vam River.

Come join me in Long An,
Admire the Vam Co River flowing dreamily.
The green coconuts stretch toward the sky,
The folk song echoes softly in the air.
Stop by Cần Đước,
The century-old military fort stands strong.
Here, the Rạch Cát fort stands tall,
Overlooking the land and the riverside.
The Long Hựu Đông house with its hundred columns,
Visit it and satisfy your heartfelt desires.
A bowl of rice made with Đào market’s rice,
And a pot of grilled fish, how wonderful is my homeland.
Cần Giuộc is filled with love and affection,
The verse by Đồ Chiểu reminds us all.
The Tôn Thạnh pagoda, known far and wide,
Two centuries later, its history still stands strong.
Have you tried the fragrant green rice?
Don’t forget the sausages and fish sauce.
The Mỹ Lợi Bridge spans the river,
Connecting Cần Giuộc with Gò Công so close.

Where world wonders rise in this land.
The ancient village of Phước Lộc Thọ,
It is a peaceful and calming space.
Head towards Bến Lức, where the sun sets,
The fragrance of citron flowers fills the air.
Whose house is filled with ripening fruits,
Happyland stands by the road waiting for someone.
Long An, with its vast lands and long rivers,
Its songs are forever etched in my heart.
Though I may travel across the world,
I will always be a child of Long An.

4. The Song of My Homeland
I’ve traveled to distant lands,
Venturing through many regions of Vietnam,
But my heart always stays in Long An,
Like a lesson deeply etched within my soul.
On every road, in every faraway city,
I can still glimpse the shadows of my homeland.
Even by the Huong River or the Red River, I remember the Vam Co River,
Its sweet melody intertwined with the folk songs of my land.
No matter where I go, I long for home,
For the rice grains from Chợ Đào that nourished me,
For the words of my teachers who guided me, so I never forget their efforts.
The blood and sacrifices of our ancestors paved this land,
As I stand beneath the vast skies and land, I honor their memory.
Over four thousand years of history and struggle,
And I’m fortunate to bask in the eternal glory they achieved.
The people of my homeland are kind but resolute,
Never yielding to invaders.
Both men and women carry deep bonds of loyalty,
Innovative, clever, and courageous.
We vow to sacrifice for the Vietnamese nation,
Following in the footsteps of soldiers and etching our names in history.
The flames of vengeance fuel our fight against the enemy,
And the song of love is dedicated to our loved ones,
With traces of our culture passed down through generations.
The Nguyen Huynh Duc Mausoleum, the Nhật Tảo River,
The magnificent hundred-pillar house, a fine masterpiece.
People of Long An hold their pride in their hearts.

5. Về với Long An
Mời anh về lại Long An
Quê em năm tháng, nặng mang tình người
Ở đây mến khách anh ơi!
Giàu lòng nhân ái, muôn đời thiết tha
Đây sông Vàm Cỏ ru ta!
Mái chèo khua nhẹ, sang qua chơi nhà
Rảnh thì anh ghé Đức Hòa
Ngã Tư Rạch Kiến, bài ca tuyệt vời
Vàm Nhật Tảo, chuyện một thời
Anh hùng tô điểm rạng ngời non sông
Đây chùa Tôn Thạnh nao lòng!
Cụ Đồ, Văn Tế…đôi dòng lệ rơi
Thăm nhà Trăm Cột anh ơi!
Sẵn đây anh ghé Tháp Mười du ca
Đầm sen vào tuổi trăng hoa
Rừng tràm bóng mát cho ta nồng nàn
Làng Nổi Tân Lập, hò khoan…
Hòa muôn giai điệu anh càng mân mê
Dửng dưng, buông lỏng câu thề
Thương anh ôm lấy, tình quê đậm đà
Mời anh lẩu mắm, ngon đa!
Canh chua cá chốt, mắt sa lệ đầy
Cá rô kho tộ, cay cay
Nàng thơm, dưa hấu ai bày cuộc vui?
Này anh thích cá nướng trui!
Gò đen rượu đế phanh phui nỗi niềm
Xa rồi, sóng vỗ bên thềm
Anh đi biền biệt cánh chim tung trời
Long An một thoáng ngậm ngùi…

6. Long An
The moonlit night is gentle like the earth
The breeze carries the scent of betel flowers
Listening to the sound in the decaying straw
The first call of love whispers
The green fields stretch to the horizon
Someone’s embrace feels so near
I sit and hum a tune
Hearing my voice echo in the air
The narrow, winding dikes
My heart stretches beyond the endless land
My barefoot feet
Embrace the breath of earth and mud
My heart flows like a stream
Running tirelessly throughout the year
Here I stop
Remembering the youthful years on my shoulders
Holding a stalk of rice in my hand
The sound of my mother’s laughter fills the air
Beside the fragile roof beam
The sound of my sister’s song echoes
Long An opens its small hands
Still offering enough shelter
Every person like a warm fire
Welcoming me back at dusk.

7. Long An - Flood Season
Here, the vast sea of water stretches endlessly
Herons fly, their wings weary, yet the shore remains unseen
My homeland is as beautiful as a dream
Long An, where poems soar like the wind
The thousand winds blow strong above
The fragrance of the fields and grass intoxicates the senses
Long An, from then to now
In flood season, the waters rise, floating for days
The flood comes, surging over hills and valleys
The flood brings fish that swim and splash everywhere
The flood arrives, resembling an endless sea
People joyfully welcome the fish’s return
The flood arrives, flowers bloom across the countryside
The yellow lotus blossoms captivate all who see
The bright golden blooms of water lilies unfold
The young tamarind fruits are cooked and loved by all
The water rises, come and see
The fish are plentiful, filling the nets to take home
The flood brings with it distant echoes of folk songs
The melody swells and falls, inviting all to join
Long An is truly beautiful, my friends
Come and visit during the flood season.

8. Come Visit My Hometown
If you come to the West, visit my hometown
Long An, where winding rivers and waterways meet
Herons fly, and storks rest in the lush gardens
Golden fields beside the green bamboo fences
The people here are warm, kind, and hospitable
Farmers and villagers share deep bonds of love and loyalty
They handle their family and community affairs with care
At night, the sound of folk songs fills the clear moonlit sky
The peaceful, calm moments here are far from the busy city
We can cast nets on a small boat, a simple pleasure
The river, Cầu Nổi, flows with abundant shrimp and fish
The breeze carries the sweet fragrance of the fields, a picture-perfect scene
Look at the kites soaring under the wide sky
Children play innocent games of tag
Bees and butterflies flutter around the squash vines
Simple, everyday happiness fills the air
In my hometown, you’ll breathe in fresh air
You’ll fall in love with the farmland and the gentle lifestyle
Dress in a traditional áo bà ba, and bathe in the Vàm Cỏ river
Embrace the graceful charm of a southern girl.

9. Have You Ever
It’s been a long time since I returned to Long An
The vast Vàm Cỏ River carries the weight of my longing
The river, so green and smooth, like a silk ribbon
Do you ever miss the river, I wonder?
Our love story, born by the river’s banks
Why does it erode without ever building again?
At night, the old moon startles me
Flickering, haunting dreams inside your heart
Over by the Red River, I hear the sun is rising
But Vàm Cỏ is drenched in endless rain and wind
Your heart, left open for so long
Do you ever remember me, I wonder?
Ngô Quang Tuấn

10. The Long An Region
Long An, a place of breathtaking waterways
Its aroma calls us from the hillsides
Come to the lowlands of Ram Sa
Where the people are simple, kind, and welcoming
Long An, a land of bravery and resilience
A place where the people fought wars and endured struggles
Now, they work hard to rebuild their nation
In Láng Sen, the Ram Sa wetlands are preserved for tourism
As the dawn rises over this homeland
Vietnam shines, a land of glory beneath the heavens.
