It was founded in 1931 by Venerable Thich Nhan Thu, originally from Phu Yen, with the Dharma name Tam Trung and the title Nghia Dao, who journeyed to Da Lat with a group of settlers from Khanh Hoa.

The pagoda's architecture combines elements of both Chinese and Vietnamese styles. Its distinctive curved double-roof features intricate carvings of mythical creatures like dragons, phoenixes, tortoises, and other symbolic figures, all crafted from small ceramic pieces. The front hall faces northeast, while the main hall, shaped like the Chinese character 'đinh', spans 20 meters in length and 15 meters in width, with three interconnected sections. The entrance hall has a three-part design with two wings and a double-layered roof. From the outside, two dragons at the ends of the roof curve inward toward a symbolic tiger, above which sits a Dharma Wheel. The roof eaves are adorned with pairs of phoenixes and dragons.
