1. SIMPLE WISHES
Poem by Hồ Viết Bình
I long for only simple things
Ever since we’ve shared this home
The sound of children’s laughter fills the air
As mother and father teach their kids to write.
I long for only simple things
Even when life is abundant
Our family gathers daily
Around the dinner table, a meal I’ve prepared myself.
I don’t crave grand ambitions
For you to become a person of high status
Such things are fleeting to me
Let’s be content with the joy of simple happiness.
And one day, by the sloping hill
You’ll find peace and serenity
Surrounded by many friends
Laughter echoing like our school days.

3. MÙA THƯƠNG
Poem by Sơn Nữ
April arrives
You walk silently, lost in thought
Countless flowers bloom
Filling the sky
Offering up their vibrant petals.
Where are you, my sweet sunshine?
Pouring over me
Engulfing me in a delirious trance…
I ask the forest
I ask the mountains
I ask the clouds
Your love is overflowing
Like a waterfall pouring down.
Hundreds of floods
Flood my memory
The waves of my heart
Bound to one man’s love.
Spring has passed
Summer comes, a distant dream
I’ve stored the wine
Carefully brewed
Will you still sip it?
The stream flows
From me
With every heartbeat
Waiting for you
Intoxicated by the season of love…

4. THE FLAME STILL BURNS BRIGHT
Poem by Trần Lộc
A fragile memory of a red phoenix
As evening falls, my heart weighed down with longing
The old path, faint footprints we once shared
Searching restlessly, an endless pursuit of childhood days.
If only back then... now
The water lilies wouldn’t drift aimlessly
Yet... I could never speak the words
Each time the phoenix blooms, my heart is in turmoil.
The exam season split us apart
Chasing dreams, youthful adventures, and freedom.
I awoke to find the boat had crossed the river,
Silent, I left everything behind, following him.
Through all the seasons, the phoenix still burns red
In the corner of my memory, some feeling remains
Carried on the wind... a soft sigh
The moon still watches over us from the riverside...

5. THE WAITING DOCK
Poem by Phạm Thị Hồng Thu
Winter arrives, the wind howls along the dike
Despite layers of thick clothing, my heart shivers
The one I wait for has been gone for so long
The grass is damp, holding on, yearning for their return.
The evening boat rests by the village riverbank
Waiting for the one who missed their appointment, aching in heart
The winter winds cut through, leaving a sense of defeat
The waves crash, the boat sways in disarray, oh boat...
Drifting aimlessly like a water plant carried away
The wind pushes, the waves hit, alas, like the life of the floating plant
Loneliness chases, pain clings
Life rushes by, the spring days slipping away unnoticed.
I pity the boat, I pity the dock a thousand times
I pity the plant, the grass, the body drenched in rain
Time, though it is often cold-hearted
The dock waits, the shore dreams of reunion.

6. HEARTACHE
Poem by Hà Nguyễn
Don’t blame yourself for forgetting the promises of the past
For now your lips are stiff, words of vows left unspoken
Yes, we both know that our love was always meant to be fleeting
Now the night whispers, I drink alone with the late moon.
Don’t blame yourself for the broken promises
So many times, we’ve stood at the crossroads of life
Our hearts, full of conflicting desires, the fun never came
Only the sincere words remain, distant as ever.
Don’t blame yourself for the things we never said
What’s so hard about just three words…
We regret the things that can never be ours
The fun has ended, the old rented room divided in two.
Don’t be angry, for who knows if we will ever meet again
Why cling to things that have already passed
The bond we shared spun the wheel of fate
Our hair has turned gray, as we reminisce with tears in our eyes…

7. A THOUSAND NIGHTS LATER
Poem by Tình Cuối
Tonight and for a thousand nights to come
We will always struggle to find the words of love
Why must happiness be filled with so much sorrow?
Your tears hidden, the fragrance of youth’s blush.
The coffee drips, gently falling with regret
We sit in silence, counting the moments
Tonight, just a little of that sweet happiness
The warmth flowing through the strands of your hair.
Tonight, my love, don’t you cry
For distant memories only bring more pain
For the most beautiful things between us
If tomorrow they are buried in the past.
If there are mistakes, let forgiveness heal
Even the wounds that fill our hearts
You return to hold me through the sunset
Faking innocence as life mocks us tomorrow.
Tonight I crave the fullness of your embrace
But it fades from where you once were
The rain falls, sorrow wetting the pillow
While next door, the night mourns, the light dimming.
This is love, this is the naked truth
In this busy world, the suffering of life
Will time allow the pain to fade away?
Do not lie, for the long night is a lonely one.
The desolate night at the edge of the cold sky
Where my dreams still linger in the photo of us
The night stretches on, endlessly long
Since that moment, our vow left incomplete.

8. WILL YOU COME BACK?
Poem by Nam Bùi
Will you come back to pick the cotton flowers with me?
March has already let go of its promise
The words spoken are carried by the swarming swallows
As they sing, filling the sky with a peaceful evening in the countryside.
The dew drops fall, the grass covers the oath
Your small feet enchanted the day
Your arms embraced me, making my heart race
Weaving love with every new blossoming rose.
Will you return to bid farewell to the cold winter?
Lady Bân burdens herself with countless memories
Thousands of songs filled with love and debts
Endless echoes linger, holding us back.
Will you come back to the old garden and pick the moonlight?
The season breathes life into the dreamy atmosphere
Life flows with the innocence of youthful love
The grapefruit trees bloom, their fragrance rich with fate.
Will you return to find the early morning dawn?
The new rays of sunlight linger, playing a gentle tune
The birds chirp on the branches, so lively
Will you come back to pick the cotton flowers with me?

9. WILD GRASS LOVE
Poem by Minh Xuyến
Let’s love each other like the love of EARTH
Gathering its essence to offer sweet nectar to life
Through storms and waves, it will never be cast away
Let it nourish the life of the trees, making them bloom!
Let’s be together like the love of WATER
Melting all bitterness, sweetness, and sorrow
We blend and heal... just by loving
Flowing through each other, until we reach the vast ocean!
Let’s cherish each other like the love of SUNLIGHT
Being the belief and hope for the world
Thankful for every fresh morning
Offering and sharing smiles of happiness!
Supporting each other like the gentle WIND
Soaring together with angelic wings
Living peacefully, with happiness rooted in the heart
Content, for what more do we need?
It’s truly simple, not dreaming of perfection
We merge into each other like floating CLOUDS
Hand in hand, we walk through the boundless sky
In the beginning, such is the love of WILD GRASS
Twined...
forever resting
by each other’s side!

10. LOVE DOES NOT NEED A DRAFT
Poem by Phan Huy Hùng
Love
You don’t need a draft
To trim and smooth words that are flawless
What you need is the foolishness
In the trembling lips
The deep crimson flush on your ears
Sometimes, from this side, you reach the other
With ellipses awaiting the dawn...
Love
If the draft lingers too long
It makes one drowsy
In silence, hands communicate
Enough for warmth to spread
Through every cell, every fiber that vibrates...
Love
Is sacred, like the borderlines of a country
Not easily crossed
Like the fleeting moment at New Year’s Eve
With tears glistening...
Love... eternal love
That which has never been touched
Always echoing in the ear, a call inviting
Suddenly here, suddenly gone
Suddenly gone, suddenly here
No draft to paint the sky or the sea breeze
Just one truth, as enduring as the years!

11. RETURNING TO LOVE
Poem by Lan Vương
Returning to myself
Returning to love
We return to the shifting hours of the slanting afternoon
Having emptied the last drops of intoxication from fleeting love affairs
Having been burnt many times already..
Now, all that remains is the pain.
Where is love?
Or has it gotten lost?
The shadow of the late afternoon breeze
With fragments of broken souls
Scattered shards of heart
Weighed down by months and years, draining all faith.
We loved each other through countless lifetimes
Leaning on one another to seek peace in the storm, through the darkest nights
The lonely train journey has long left, trailing behind the distant fervor
Returning to us the warmth of life.
Return, my love
Return to love
What is there to be ashamed of in deceit?
In the humble home, my heart burns for you
We love each other
Though life may lead us down a hundred paths, a thousand ways
The final road
Leads to you, me, and eternal happiness.

12. SPRING SEASON
Poetry by Hương mrs- le
Don't leave so soon
The cup of spring love is yet to be emptied
Still warm and intoxicating, our eyes and lips entwined
Like raindrops returning to the parched fields
The rice is in its prime, pregnant with a new season's harvest
Don't go yet
The gown of the Bân maiden has yet to be gifted
You are in your prime, my dear, full of spring's charm
My heart yearns for you like the sea wind stirs the sails
Could it be that you're leaving, tearing away from me?
