1. Maintain Skin Moisture
Another key point to remember is that while oily skin naturally produces a certain amount of oil, preventing it from drying out—this is actually one of the few benefits of oily skin. However, you can't rely solely on this to skip moisturizing.
Be smart and choose moisturizers specifically formulated for oily skin. From my own experience, I've been using Hada Labo's moisturizer for oily skin, and it's been fantastic. My skin feels softer, smoother, and much less oily throughout the day.

2. Limit Cosmetic Use
These days, almost every woman has a makeup kit. Some use it daily, while others reserve it for special occasions. Regardless of how often you wear makeup, have you considered whether the products you're using are suitable for your skin type? If not, it's time to start paying attention. For those with oily skin, choosing makeup can be especially tricky.
Generally, if you have oily skin, it's best to limit makeup use, as it can clog your pores and trap excess oil, which may lead to breakouts. Therefore, make sure to select cosmetics specifically designed for oily skin to help take better care of your complexion.

3. Use Sunscreen in Moderate Amounts
Invisible rays like UVA and UVB exist within sunlight, and the naked eye cannot detect them. Sunscreen acts as a protective barrier to block these rays from penetrating the skin, which can lead to problems such as dark spots, freckles, sunburn, and dehydration.
To maintain optimal skin hydration, daily sunscreen application is essential. When exposed to strong sunlight, choose a sunscreen with SPF 50, but if you're in the shade, indoors, or in front of a computer, an SPF of 30 is sufficient.

4. Eat a Balanced Diet and Ensure Sufficient Vitamin Intake
A healthy body leads to healthier skin. That's why it's important to maintain a balanced diet suitable for your body type. Incorporate fruits rich in essential vitamins for your skin to help balance, regulate, and improve your skin’s health.
Regularly include calcium in your diet, not only for stronger bones but also for your skin. Calcium, along with vitamins, plays a key role in maintaining skin health and beauty. While calcium is a mineral, it works with vitamins to control oiliness, brighten the skin, and fight acne. Besides dairy products, you can find calcium in salmon, sardines, and sunflower seeds.

5. Be Consistent with Face Masks
Face masks are an effective way to provide and lock in moisture for your skin. You don't need to rely on expensive, branded masks to achieve these benefits. You can easily create your own moisturizing mask with affordable, readily available ingredients at home, such as tomato, green tea, potato, cucumber masks, or mixtures like oatmeal, green tea powder, turmeric starch with honey, and a few drops of lemon juice.
To find the best mask formula for your skin, you can explore beauty forums or Facebook groups where fellow skincare enthusiasts share many great tips and recipes.

6. Use Alcohol-Free Toners
Oily skin is a direct cause of enlarged pores and acne. Using a toner for oily skin is crucial. After cleansing, applying a toner helps restore the skin's natural pH balance and brings it back to its normal state.
If you have oily skin, avoid toners containing alcohol, as they can irritate the skin. Not only will they fail to refresh your skin, but they can also cause breakouts. Choosing a toner suited for oily skin will help gradually reduce pore size and restore the smooth, healthy look of your complexion.

7. Develop a Healthy Eating Habit
Eating a balanced diet is a key factor in improving the condition of oily skin. Include plenty of vegetables like celery, lettuce, carrots, and dark leafy greens, as well as fruits like oranges and apples. You should also consume lean meats, beans, white cheese, and avoid fatty meats, meat sauces, fried foods, sugary snacks, and stimulants.
Additionally, make sure to drink plenty of water every day. This is the simplest and most effective way to hydrate your skin from the inside, reducing the need for your skin to overproduce oil. Regular physical exercise is also essential for maintaining a healthy body and can contribute to firmer, glowing skin.

8. Exfoliate Weekly
Exposure to the outside environment daily exposes your skin to dirt, dust, chemicals, and pollutants, which can cause it to become rough, dull, and prematurely aged. This is particularly important for oily skin, where cleansing is crucial. Oily skin should exfoliate 1 to 2 times a week to remove impurities, keeping the skin clean and preventing clogged pores.
However, oily skin can be quite sensitive and prone to breakouts when using harsh exfoliators. It’s advisable to opt for products with natural ingredients that suit your skin. You can even create your own DIY exfoliating scrubs at home using natural ingredients to save money.

9. Avoid Touching Your Face
Many people have the habit of touching their face, but this can be very damaging to your skin, especially for those with oily skin. Your hands constantly come into contact with oils, dirt, and bacteria, which can lead to further breakouts. So, try to keep your hands away from your face. While it may be a difficult habit to break, it’s a small change that can prevent worsening oily skin.
Instead, when your face feels greasy, use blotting papers to absorb excess oil, reduce the spread of acne, and keep your makeup intact for longer. Just make sure not to rub the blotting paper too harshly to avoid stripping your skin’s moisture.

10. Use Oil Blotting Papers
Oil blotting papers are typically made from rice paper, wood pulp, cotton, or flax seeds. Thanks to their unique composition, they are highly effective at quickly absorbing excess oil from your skin. Along with sunscreen and face mists, these blotting papers are an essential product for many, especially during the hot summer months.
People with oily or combination skin tend to produce more oil, particularly in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin, and around the mouth). Regular tissue paper can absorb only a small amount of oil, often just sweat, leaving the skin feeling greasy and uncomfortable. Oil blotting papers are much more effective at removing excess sebum, helping oily skin feel more refreshed and confident.
Even after washing your face and using oil-controlling products in the morning and evening, oil can still build up throughout the day. When this happens, simply press an oil blotting paper gently onto your skin to absorb the excess oil. Repeat as needed during the day.

11. Get Enough Sleep
In fact, this is an essential factor not just for oily skin, but for all skin types. Failing to follow a regular sleep schedule can throw your body off balance, leading to various health concerns.
When your body is fatigued, it tends to produce more oil, which can leave your face feeling greasy and uncomfortable by morning. This is one of the primary reasons your skin may worsen over time. Therefore, I recommend getting 8 hours of sleep per night and avoiding going to bed too late, especially refraining from using your phone right before bed. The light emitted from your phone’s screen can damage your skin and accelerate aging.
Getting sufficient rest will help rejuvenate your skin and refresh your mind, setting you up for a better day ahead.

12. Drink Plenty of Water
Water makes up 70% of our body, so staying hydrated is something we can't neglect. It's a great habit to drink a glass of water right after waking up, as it helps to detoxify your body. Ideally, you should aim to drink between 1.5 to 2 liters of water a day to help keep your body in balance. So even if you're not always in the mood to drink, make sure you stick to your hydration goal.
If you don't drink enough water, your body will start producing more oil to maintain skin moisture and balance. Therefore, always remember to drink plenty of water—the more, the better! It’s not only great for your body, but it also helps to reduce excess oil on your skin, leaving it looking plump and hydrated.

13. Proper Facial Cleansing
This step is incredibly important, especially for those with oily skin. Most people with oily skin often feel discomfort because their skin produces excess oil, usually every 1-2 hours (depending on individual skin types). When this happens, many rush to wash their face, which is actually a big mistake. For oily skin, I recommend avoiding frequent face washes throughout the day. Over-washing can dehydrate the skin and strip away the oil that helps maintain skin moisture. Instead, reduce the number of times you wash your face and use blotting paper to gently absorb excess oil.
The second mistake is overusing facial cleansers, which can harm the skin. Excessive use makes your skin thinner and weaker. Additionally, avoid using towels to wash your face. It's better to cleanse using your hands or, if possible, use a facial cleansing device, which can massage your skin while minimizing damage. After cleansing, gently pat your face with a dry towel to absorb any excess moisture.
