"Hey Hai, the meeting is at 7 o'clock at my place tonight." As soon as my father finished speaking, I knew immediately that it was Mr. Thanh. Loved and respected by everyone in the neighborhood, Mr. Thanh has been the neighborhood leader where I live for over a decade.

Mr. Thanh is 44 years old, the same age as my father. He is tall and moves quickly, and although his hair is mostly gray, he remains active and dedicated to the community. His square-shaped face reflects a person of great determination, while his bright, sharp eyes reveal his enthusiasm and care for others.

Outside of his work at a production workshop, Mr. Thanh regularly visits families in need, such as the elderly Mr. Hơn, Mrs. Chiên, and Mr. Hiệu, who are all veterans or the families of fallen soldiers. Mr. Thanh’s work is very hands-on and consistently effective. Last year, due to his intervention and persistence, Mrs. Năm, a mother of a fallen soldier, received a spacious, meaningful home and some savings from the district committee.

Whether it's a family in need, a dispute, or any problem in the neighborhood, Mr. Thanh is always there to lend a hand and resolve it effectively. The local authorities, especially Mr. Sơn, and the neighborhood police all greatly respect and admire him.

The community is now preparing a special ceremony to honor Mr. Thanh for his exemplary leadership. As children, we often ask him to share stories from his days fighting in the Southwest battlefield. Mr. Thanh is a role model for everyone, and with such a great neighborhood leader, we feel safe and confident in our work. The bond between neighbors grows ever stronger.
