1. Poem: The Farewell of Summer
THE FAREWELL OF SUMMER
By Ngo Minh Hieu
As summer arrives, my heart feels nostalgic
The farewell to dear friends, full of warmth and love
School days leave behind countless memories
And parting words exchanged in a final goodbye
The first poem I ever wrote
A farewell to a summer that’s passed
The sound of cicadas in the schoolyard
Reminds me of the bittersweet end of summer
The red phoenix flowers bloom, marking the end of the school year
We part ways, going in different directions from now on
Messages and memories in our yearbooks
The purple jacaranda blossoms, forever etched in our hearts
The white shirts flutter, and a shy smile
The rosy lips are so lovely, how can they be forgotten?
Joyful and sorrowful memories, where will they go?
They live on forever in the dreams of youth.

2. Poem: Student Love
STUDENT LOVE
By Tran Manh
The sound of cicadas fills the air, loud and clear
In the schoolyard, leaves rustle as they fall
My heart longs for the days gone by
With memories that linger, stirring my soul
The red phoenix flowers still carry hopes and dreams
School days, pure and innocent, filled with beauty
The first taste of love, innocent and naive
Promises of forever etched in the corners of my mind
The pages of our yearbooks still smell of ink
Choking back tears as we say our goodbyes
Years pass, but my heart still beats for those days
It hasn’t faded, it will never fade
The waves of emotions crash with overwhelming love
The first love, trembling hands, holding on tight
Though time has passed, I can never forget
My heart will always remember, deeply engraved in my soul.

3. Poem: Farewell to Summer
FAREWELL TO SUMMER
By Nguyen Van Hiep
This May, we must part ways
School days will fade into memories
The phoenix tree in the schoolyard burns with fiery red
The cicadas' song sounds sorrowful, calling out in longing.
Tomorrow, each of us will go our separate paths
Hand in hand, so much left unsaid
In this moment of goodbye, we wonder
Will anyone return to the old place, waiting for someone?
Tired eyes and a wide, thoughtful brow
The elderly teacher stays behind, silent and deep in thought
Let’s sing together, boys and girls
Why do our voices choke, tears streaming at this farewell?
Oh, time, please stand still for a while
Let this moment last just a little longer
Tomorrow, the school gates will close
And we step into the world, filled with love and hope.

4. Poem: A Letter to Farewell
A LETTER TO FAREWELL
By Ha Nguyen
Have you ever felt sadness like this, my dear
As the cicadas cry in mourning for the phoenix blooms?
Wishing to hold on, just once more, but unable
The soft white dress is filled with memories of you.
The day of parting, the sky remains so blue
Just like the sky three years ago
Still in the same uniforms, with unspoken wishes
But in my heart, I ache with the thought of leaving this place.
Which speck of dust flew into my eyes
Causing the entire class to wipe away tears?
We smile, but my heart feels a sharp pain
'When graduation comes, will you remember me?' I wonder.
I remember the silly pranks, the innocent fun
I remember the carefree dreams of our youth
Stepping into life with its daily joys and sorrows
And I wonder, will I ever cry out: 'Oh, my friends!'?
Poem: Ha Nguyen

5. Poem: A Summer Remembered
A SUMMER REMEMBERED
By Dao Manh Thanh
Who brought the fire that bent the branches of the phoenix tree,
To make the jacaranda bloom in joyous purple across the sky?
The summer heat burned fiercely, with the phoenix flowers swaying in the breeze,
The schoolyard covered in red petals, delicate and light.
Your white dress fluttered as you moved, a beautiful silhouette,
I fumbled to hand you the bouquet of phoenix blossoms,
The jacaranda's purple reminded me of that farewell,
On a summer afternoon, the wind carried tears in its wake.
Reluctantly, I carried all our unspoken dreams,
The hopeful days ahead now tinged with separation.
The cicadas cried out in the summer sun, their song filled with sorrow,
Summer lingered, hiding its verses of sadness.
Returning now, I am lost in this summer's solitude,
The old school holds memories of our innocent days.
The wall still bears the faded marks of chalk,
Someone's name, now blurred by tears of farewell.
Quietly, I pick up a fallen phoenix petal,
Searching for memories of a time long past,
I walk away, the crimson flowers escorting me,
And my heart still aches for the day we parted.
Summer brings back the pain we left behind,
Sending just a little sunlight...
...Will anyone remember this summer when it’s gone?

6. Poem: Goodbye Now
GOODBYE NOW
By Tran Thanh Nhan
Goodbye now, do you still remember me?
The purple jacaranda leaves its mark in the yearbook
With handwritten words, faded with time,
Will we ever know what we mean to each other?
Yes, I know, the phoenix tree doesn't feel pain
Who carved their name into its bark, leaving an aching mark?
Years pass, and time doesn’t wait
When we return, will the memories still remain, faded yet present?
Goodbye now, I’ll remember the friend beside me
Sitting next to me, tracing lines in the dust,
Our eyes would meet, and hearts would race
Quietly following each other after every school day.
Goodbye now, thoughts of a loved one linger
The sky remains blue, your white dress so pure,
The red phoenix flowers, the schoolyard so still
Summer’s breeze casually blows past, indifferent to our farewell.
Goodbye now, stepping forward into a wide, open road
The world ahead tinted with hopeful green
The sound of the school bell rings out, far off in the sunlight
Choking back tears, I say goodbye to the dreams of youth.

7. Poem: Once Upon a Time
ONCE UPON A TIME
By Hong Vu
Once upon a time, we were together.
Through the window, spring always beckoned,
Joyful moments awaited us,
Every horizon was filled with dreams of green.
The sea was never far, though we’d never touched its shore,
The mountains, though towering, always within reach.
Our sorrows were only whispers carried by the wind,
Our smiles bloomed like flowers, bright and free.
Once upon a time, a long, long time ago,
We were mischievous students,
Always playing, never weighed down by worries,
Dreaming foolish dreams, thinking we would never grow old.
One summer passed, leaving memories behind,
We exchanged countless notes and wishes,
The phoenix flowers burned bright, like fire,
The cicadas' song a reminder of our school days.
We’ve traveled countless paths since then,
But I still yearn for that time, wishing to return,
To the school beneath the evergreen trees,
Where our childhood forever lingers in this place.
And one day, I’ll come back here,
With hair touched by silver strands,
The sorrows and joys, now different,
And when we meet again... it will feel just like before...

8. Poem: The Last Summer - Memory Echoes
THE LAST SUMMER
By Memory Echoes
The pages of the yearbook soaked with tears,
Outside the schoolyard, the cicadas' cries filled the air,
The phoenix flowers bloomed, burning red under the summer sun,
Saying farewell to the final exam... Who will wait for whom?
Beyond the window, the lilac flowers burst into bloom,
Memories stirred, making longing deeper,
A time of innocence, so quiet and sweet,
Books neatly stacked by the window, as the rain softly fell.
We still carry the warmth of love’s first touch,
What breeze carried it back to us... that place of affection?
Endlessly vast, like the smoke of a summer evening,
Entwining souls gently... drifting in the dream world.
We hear the heartbeat of time echoing,
Bringing a touch of sorrow as the exam season fades,
As we bid farewell to the last summer... the parting,
The lilac flowers fade in sorrow... engraving our emotions forever.

9. Poem: Farewell to the Beloved School Years
FAREWELL TO THE BELOVED SCHOOL YEARS
By Nguyễn Chính Đại
This afternoon, along the familiar path,
The lilac flowers call, the phoenix blooms in season,
The deep red hue burns through the summer heat,
And hearts flutter with words of love.
The sound of school days slipping by,
Whispers in the heart, quiet and profound,
The cicadas sing, oh summer, why so soon?
Leaving us with sorrow, for the coming goodbye.
So, each of us, we are left with affection,
For what was nothing, yet sadness grows in the soul,
How close we were, now to be left with memories,
Summer, why rush in and make us part?
Summer, do you understand the ache we feel?
Tomorrow, we won’t be together anymore,
The regret rises, waves of sorrow that won't cease,
We mourn, and deeply sigh, feeling the sting of loss.
Farewell, dear school years, farewell.
Life moves on, and we grow, as all do,
We leave our love in the classroom, bound by memories,
Forever reminding each other of the bond we shared.

10. Poem: The Memories of the Past
THE MEMORIES OF THE PAST
By MaiLan
That farewell, the schoolyard stood empty,
The wind swept through, untangling my tousled hair,
Our eyes locked, exchanging silent words,
And quietly, I handed you a branch of red phoenix flowers.
The blossoms trembled in the wind,
As if they spoke the words of our shyness,
The flame of the phoenix burned within my heart,
As I walked away, carrying memories of you.
Today, I return to the old schoolyard,
The memories of the past still vivid and clear,
I walk backward in time to relive those moments,
And once again, red petals dance through the air.
May 27, 2019.

11. Poem: The Month of May
THE MONTH OF MAY
By Hồ Viết Bình
The month of May is filled with the sound of cicadas,
The red phoenix flowers announce the arrival of summer,
Exchanging farewell notes with shaky hands,
And the first love, expressed through hesitant words.
The month of May holds the memory of a voice,
Whispering softly in my ear from long ago,
A voice trembling with love,
The words of affection forever etched in my heart.

12. Poem: Farewell on a Summer Day
FAREWELL ON A SUMMER DAY
By Lê Mỹ Hường
There are summer days when the sky carries the sun off to play,
The rain hides behind the gently parted clouds,
The purple flowers softly whisper their farewells,
Summer, shy and gentle, tucks herself like a girl in bloom!
Oh, summer, the cicadas cry as they strum their violin,
Singing the song of days filled with sweet longing.
The farewell day sees the phoenix flowers blazing red,
The schoolyard, with its green leaves, seems to feel the same sadness.
Now, parting time lingers, reluctant to let go,
Hands held tight, unwilling to separate.
The dewdrops shine like tears on the girl's cheek,
The boy, with a heavy heart, holds a branch of the phoenix flower in his hands.
Oh school, tomorrow I will leave this place,
But I will remember the years full of memories,
The secret letter hidden in a drawer, pretending not to be found,
The poem tucked in my notebook for the friend I secretly loved...
Oh school, please keep my fondness safe,
The sweetness stored in my memories.
The farewell notes still bear the ink of our youth,
The handwriting of students from days gone by.
Friends, farewell, though we are far apart,
The road ahead stretches wide for us to walk.
The skies of our past are where we once made promises,
And we will never forget those years—our school days.
We’ll meet again,
Continue the verses of poetry,
Left unfinished...

13. Poem: Farewell to School Days
FAREWELL TO SCHOOL DAYS
By Duy Hạnh Trần
(Dedicated to the 1971 – 1974 class
at CIII Industrial School of Nam Ha, now known as Ngô Quyền High School - Nam Dinh)
Sadness, please leave me alone,
Don’t come too close to me now,
The last day of school is upon us,
And though I smile, tears still fall.
I can’t understand why my heart aches,
Years of friendship, now we part ways,
The first bell rang on that opening day,
And now, graduation has come too fast!
How strange it feels, the desks and chairs,
They, too, seem lost as we say goodbye,
The farewell notes bring a lump to my throat,
Each carefully written word filled with memories.
We promised to meet again someday,
To reminisce about the good old days,
Of joy and sorrow, struggles under the sun and rain,
And the hours spent with teachers who guided us.
Only today remains filled with chatter,
Tomorrow, we’ll go our separate ways,
Goodbye, dear friends,
The sky is bright with the warmth of a new day.

14. Poem: Remembering School Days
REMEMBERING SCHOOL DAYS
By Nguyễn Đình Hưng
Oh, how I long for those carefree school days,
The red phoenix flowers, the purple Lagerstroemia lining the schoolyard,
The cicadas’ calls echo with love and longing,
As the time to say goodbye to our school years has arrived.
Oh, the innocence of youth, full of joy,
Unaware, we would carry our schoolbags to class,
Whining and crying, though we knew our mothers cared deeply,
Lost in play, never noticing our fathers waiting by the school gate.
How eagerly we looked forward to each new school year,
The sound of the school bell ringing, signaling the start of exams,
So naïve and mischievous, leaving traces of joy on the trees and benches,
Etching memories that would never fade.
The love between teacher and student, and the bond with friends,
Quietly engraved in our hearts,
The shy, tender feelings that filled our eyes with tears,
Who ever wanted to part from their school days?
And as summer arrives, memories rush in, overwhelming the heart.

15. Poem: Oh, Student!
OH, STUDENT!
By Đinh Thi Hiển
Saying goodbye doesn’t mean forever,
Yet still, my heart feels heavy with sorrow.
Laughter and chatter fill the air,
But with every step, the pain of parting grows.
Oh, my dear student!
Though you’re eighteen, you’re still so young,
Your wings are unsteady, yet ready to fly,
The storms of life will test your flight.
From now on, your journey is your own,
Facing each day with resolve and care.
Study hard, be a good student,
And you’ll achieve greatness, returning to me in triumph.
It’s been over a decade since we parted,
I’ve watched you grow, and my heart swells with pride.
A remarkable person, a doctor, a hero...
Excelling in so many fields... I am so proud.

16. Poem: Reunions and Farewells
REUNIONS AND FAREWELLS
By Hạ Quyên
The exams are over, the fruits of labor are reaped,
Groups of friends scatter, crying over goodbyes.
The pain of separation lingers in the heart,
Where are you now, and where am I headed?
The exams are over, the fruits of labor are reaped,
Groups of friends cheerfully gather, united in joy.
Happiness takes flight, soaring toward new horizons.
Where do you live? And I, down here?
How strange it feels to be in the same room,
At night, we huddle together to escape the cold.
We share stories, longing for home,
Someone laughing softly, teasing, remembering a stranger...
I recall the past, when I too was once there,
Excitedly packing, skipping joyfully along.
The university sky, a gateway to dreams,
We rejoiced in reunion, reaching for blue hopes.
Now, all is distant and separated,
Who still remembers the cups we shared?
Tonight, and tomorrow, life will take us far,
What is the purpose of meeting if we must part?
It was only summer, just a fleeting summer,
The moonlight lingers, our clothes still pristine.
Then came our fleeting chance, walking side by side...
But at the end of the road, must there be a farewell?

17. Poem: Farewell, the Pink Age
FAREWELL, THE PINK AGE
By Nguyễn Đình Cường
The phoenix flowers ignite the flames of love,
The purple jacarandas remind us of loyalty.
Summer's sunshine reflects memories, shimmering bright,
We send our fondness into the pages of our diaries.
The cicadas mournfully cry, their song faint,
The schoolyard empty, no white uniforms in sight.
Must we part ways? Yes, it’s true!
Goodbye, the dreamy days of youth's pink age!
The road ahead is long, ever-expanding,
Which path should we take, my friend?
We must choose, not based on rank or stature,
But upon the knowledge we've gained in twelve years of learning.
Even when we're far apart, let’s cherish
The sincerity we’ve shared with each other.
We send a heartfelt greeting to our teachers,
Thank you for your guidance and love!
In time, we will each find our destination,
This world is full of its own divisions.
But one thing will always remain in our hearts,
We’ll never forget the summer farewell from our youth!

18. The Flame Trees
THE FLAME TREES
By Tg. Sơn Thạch
Summer is here, the sky ablaze with red flame trees,
Reminding us of the memories from our school days.
The old schoolyard, with its ancient flame tree still standing,
The fluttering white uniforms, the pages of books we once shared.
The earth and sky, vibrant with the colors of blooming flowers,
The petals of the flame tree tracing footprints of longing.
The first love is now but a distant memory,
Occasionally appearing, glowing in our dreams.
At eighteen, how could we have known how to express love?
We longed for the school reunions, and the sweet promises made.
The farewell moment was so hard to speak,
The long dress, the sweet scent of her hair.
Every time I gaze at the clusters of blooming flame trees,
I listen to the melody of a love that lingers.
Collecting the petals and pressing them between the pages,
The sound of the cicadas transforms into the verses of poetry.

19. Poem: Farewell to May
FAREWELL TO MAY
Le Chau
Goodbye, May, it's time to part
All the memories of our school days
The blossoming flowers whisper softly,
Reminding me of that day, the end of youth
Hello, June, filled with worries
The exams, the stress, the troubled thoughts
A decade of studying now takes its toll
What will the future hold when I've failed?
The weight of anxiety presses down on me
The years ahead are long and uncertain
No more dreams, just the struggle ahead
The storms of life pushing me along
Through ups and downs, here I am today
Even as I grow older, I still remember that day
Only the memories linger, tugging at my heart
It feels like it was just yesterday
Oh June, come and walk with me
Let's enjoy life, even though we're older
Let's find joy, as long as we're healthy
In our later years, peace is what we seek.

20. Poem: Nostalgia
NOSTALGIA
Author: Xuan Chi
Time passes quickly, and summer is here
The red flame flowers bloom, the sound of cicadas fills the air
We prepare to say farewell to our final year
The bittersweet emotions of our school days remain.
Only about a month left, then we'll go our separate ways
Each of us will follow our own path
You’ll study for university exams
We may not see each other often anymore...
I noticed that during breaks
You would walk alone across the schoolyard
Your eyes filled with thoughts, looking toward the classroom
You were probably searching for me, your friend.
In a hurry, I approached, and we sat together
On the stone bench beneath the flame tree
You looked at me with a sad gaze and whispered
Will you remember me when we part ways?
The sound of cicadas echoed, and I too felt nostalgic
I reached up and plucked a bunch of red flame flowers
Handed them to you, then whispered softly
I will miss you dearly, Summer.
