1. Poem: West Lake Lotus Blooming - Phan Huy Hùng
WEST LAKE LOTUS BLOOMING
(Poem by Phan Huy Hùng)
Every morning, West Lake is veiled in mist
The sunlight breaks through, and the haze lingers
A boat drifts through the fragrant lotus pond
People blend with the flowers, enhancing their beauty.
Someone's hand gently caresses the lotus buds
The sun pierces through the pink mist like fire
The warmth travels from lips to cheeks
Making the smile illuminate the entire flower field.
The fragrance of the lotus intertwines with the scent of tea
It lingers on my hands, reminding me of someone's touch
Like a love that's rich and deep
Is it for someone, or just for me?
I sip my tea and recall the lovely smile
The graceful figure mirrored in the water
The pink lotus buds cradled in your delicate hands
Just a fleeting moment... but it stays with me forever.

2. Poem: Welcome June - Đỗ Hương
WELCOME JUNE!
Author: Đỗ Hương
June arrives at Mother’s homeland
The lotus stretches across the fields
Its fragrance fills the air
Blooming one flower after another...
The reed warblers hum along the riverbank
The buffalo graze in the meadow
The shepherd boy bends low
Picking lotus buds in small handfuls.
They run, their legs kicking in the air
Mouths munching on lotus seeds
Laughing wide, grinning ear to ear
The lotus petals torn from the force!
The wind sweeps along the river’s edge
The traveler feels the cool breeze
Savoring the scent of the fields
In peaceful reflection, silently asking...
Is there any path in this world
That feels as wistful as Mother’s homeland?
Is there any silk so rich
That carries the soul of the land like this?

3. Poem: Lotus Shape - Nguyễn Thành Lợi
LOTUS SHAPE
Poem: Nguyễn Thành Lợi
The lotus shape, a smooth, delicate bud,
Your shape, graceful and light, so charming indeed!
The pink lotus, bright and pure,
Your color, soft and cool, with charm and allure!
The fragrance of the lotus, rich and profound,
Your scent, so sweet, like the betel’s smell around!
Though time may pass, fleeting and fast,
The pink lotus remains, our connection will last!

4. Poem: The Lotus Rises on the Pond - Ho Viet Binh
THE LOTUS RISES ON THE POND
Poem: Ho Viet Binh
Ask the lotus, the one in the pond
Have you ever smelled the muddy scent of the water?
The lotus smiles: the sun, wind, and rain will pass
But I, though covered in mud, always keep my purity.
Gathering the essence of the muddy land
I offer the world perfect, beautiful flowers
The sacred forces of earth and sky converge
Releasing a gentle fragrance, calming the hearts of the peaceful.
Despite the rain and storms swirling around
The lotus stands tall, reaching up above the water's surface
Even when the waves crash against the shore
The scent of the lotus lingers, comforting all with love.

5. Poem: Pink Lotus - Tran Luc
PINK LOTUS
Author: Tran Luc
(a practitioner of Buddhist chants)
The lotus still calls itself a lotus
It does not fear the deep pond nor the acidic water
In the morning, its bright red bloom doesn’t need to compete
At night, its golden stamen doesn’t push to be first
Its fragrance is pure, untouched by worldly life
Its scent lingers in the air, untainted by the dark past
Among the pink clouds, in the land of purity
The lotus still calls itself a lotus.

6. Poem: Longing for You - Hoang Minh Tuan
LONGING FOR YOU!
Poem: Hoang Minh Tuan
“What’s more beautiful than a lotus in the pond?”
This familiar folk verse has been heard many times
With your fair skin shining bright
The white lotus flower cannot compare, you smile, the lotus loses!
Your lips, deep red, waiting eagerly,
The pink lotus blushes, dreaming of being as beautiful!
The golden stamen of the pink lotus is rich and sweet
But the peach blossom’s blush, white and red, is what I long for!
The lotus leaves reflect the water’s surface
But you, with your long black hair, stand alone in this world
The fragrance of the lotus fills the air
Just like the scent of a young maiden, swaying in the wind!
The lotus is drunk with the calm of the water’s surface
I am intoxicated with your fair skin and soft lips, the glow of the lotus
I wish you were the lotus
So I could forever LONG FOR... YOU!

7. Poem: Lotus - Truong Tuy Anh
LOTUS!
Poem: Truong Tuy Anh
The red lotus shines brightly in the pond
Gentle, pure, subtly beautiful
The fragrance of the lotus is sweet and sublime
Carried in the morning breeze that greets the dawn
With pride, the lotus stands upright
Confidently filtering the mud, transforming life
Rising from the dirty sludge
Enduring hardships, loved by all.

8. Poem: The Flower of Heaven - Tran Duc Nghia
THE FLOWER OF HEAVEN
Poem: Tran Duc Nghia
Hands holding jewels stand under the sky
The green lake nestled in the dark, murky mud
The flower's branch sways with the breeze, gently blowing
Shaking, the lotus quickly releases its fragrant love...
Autumn sunlight softly kisses the pure blossom
Glimmering, it dances as dawn plays its tune
Wandering aimlessly, a soul in confusion
Along the lotus lake, feeling like drifting in a fairyland...
The flower from heaven, dreamy and elusive
The wandering poet stands entranced, captivated
Desiring to possess and pluck her
The lotus fairy weeps, her body slowly wilting.
Sensing a sadness, I stand in silence
Yearning to be one with the lotus forever
Shaking off the mud, the lotus swiftly turns back
Suddenly, I am startled by the jolt of an empty dream...

9. Poem: Like a Lotus - Nguyễn Thị Xuân Hương
LIKE A LOTUS
Author: Nguyễn Thị Xuân Hương
I am a preschool teacher
Despite life's murk, I remain steadfast in my "heart"
Like a lotus, graceful amidst the pond
Rising to bloom, quietly exuding fragrance.
Though the profession is fraught with hardship
"Joy - anger - love - sorrow" the paths of life
The pure lotus amidst the mud
I vow to keep my body pure and innocent.
Forever gentle, forever blooming
The colors of the flower, the soul of water, a descendant of dragons and fairies
I am a teacher, a mother
Amidst all the chaos, I smile peacefully!

LOTUS HEART
Poem: Bùi Thế Uyên
A kind and gentle nature is always praised
Living a virtuous life brings joy, never to be lowly
Love for others shines with a clear heart
Despising those who lack wisdom and darkened hearts
Even in the muck, love remains untainted
Amidst the filth, righteousness does not fade
Maintain purity and uphold virtue
Virtue and grace spread the fragrance of the lotus.

12. Poem: My Own Lotus - Lâm Bình
MY OWN LOTUS
Author: Lâm Bình
A single pink lotus blooms for me,
Its fragrance and color lasting for centuries,
Even through the storms and struggles of life,
Its sweet fragrance and vibrant beauty continue to shine.
The pink lotus at the end of the day,...
In the stillness, deeply enamored,
There are moments of wonder as I gaze,
The fragrance of its heart fills the air as the lotus season ends.
You have gone... Yet the lotus still follows you,
In your dreams, you return to the vast lotus pond,
Hanoi, my love, this season the lotus thirsts,
The rain shower nourishes the falling lotus petals...
The flower humbly gives life, nurturing growth,
Its pure color radiates with intense fragrance,
Those quiet days spent beside the lotus remain dear,
As each drop of sweat is fully squeezed out.
It lingers in the heart of a Southern girl.
The girl from the South picks lotus in the North,
She gathers the sweetness of the late-season lotus,
Though knowing that the end-of-season lotus isn't as brilliant.
She still gathers, embracing a season of intoxication.
Waiting for the one who brings the fragrance of the Pure Lotus,
The scent of the lotus lingers, filling the heart with love.

14. White Lotus – Xuân Hoàng
Poem: White Lotus
Author: Xuân Hoàng
Not seeing the one who picks the lotus
Sailing through the morning sunlight
Carrying a basket full of white lotus
The fragrance fills the calm afternoon
I return to the ancient city
After many days of separation
Meeting the blooming white lotus season
In the summer scent from yesterday
Could this be Hue?
That land and this flower
Though no words are spoken
The verse of poetry is felt deeply
Whose house is by the ancient citadel?
To cross, one must pass through the moat
Crossing through the white lotus season
Encountering a world of serenity
The lotus enters a dream
Pure white, with a strange fragrance in the afternoon
The ancient capital’s soil, the summer season
The river becomes a velvet moss wave.

15. Memories of the Lotus
Poem: Memories of the Lotus
Author: Nguyễn Văn Pứ
What are you doing near the lotus pond?
If you wish to go far, a boat is waiting.
The wooden bridge is steep, you may fall!
Feel for the person, their white dress stained with black mud!
The lotus blossom, so fresh, like your hands
Soft pollen sheltered within its petals
Golden and shimmering, more radiant than the sunlight
Its glow mirrors your rosy cheeks, your dreamy eyes.
In the midst of the black mud, it still carries fragrance
Despite the unpredictable rain and sun
The pure white petal is as spotless as you
Graceful, easily capturing hearts…!
On my boat, you step off, transforming into a dragon boat
A patch of blue sky accented with shades of pink
Your image stirs waves in my heart
Like a boat finding its harbor in the vastness
That evening, we meet at the riverbank
You gently kiss the pink lotus blossom
Softly placing your hand in mine... without a word
I understand the love deep in my heart!
We kiss the small hand holding the lotus
That evening, the rural sky glimmered with lights
As time passes, the memory stays
The light, the vibrant flowers, and your hand reaching out…!

16. Jealousy
Poem: Jealousy
Author: Anonymous
There is a girl I hold dear
Who loves the blooming lotus, its fragrance in the summer dusk
Your eyes, bright and round, shimmer
Like the sparkling water, your fingers spread wide.
Several times I’ve walked around West Lake
And watched as you gently touched the lotus bloom
My heart felt like it was about to burst
Your delicate hands, so beautiful, are meant for plucking lotus.
Do not let the earth and sky become jealous
So that I can still admire the lotus in the summer evening.

17. White Lotus - Nguyên Đỗ
Poem: White Lotus
Author: Nguyên Đỗ
The pure, modest lotus bud
Seems shy under the golden morning sun
The lotus bud, the symbol of our love
When will it bloom, adorning the lake in radiance?
Golden stamens, white petals swaying
A touch of pink painting the scent of the sky and poetry
I return, weaving dreams of love
You return, embroidering hopes with red threads of affection
The pure white lotus bud
Your love, unwavering, fills my pure heart
A heart of gold and jade, dreams of green
One day, the sunlight will bring forth flowers from our dreams
The season of blooming lotuses, a thousand flowers
The soul of poetry bathed in sunlight, embodying the shape of poetry
Yes, you ripen with a whole season of dreams
My soul brims with the threads of lotus love.

18. Poem: The Lotus and You - Phan Thúc Định
THE LOTUS AND YOU!
Author: Phan Thúc Định
Autumn has arrived, blanketing the trees
Each leaf bathed in golden hues
Summer retreats after hurried days
Leaving behind sweat, marking the salty waves on the back!
The lotus ponds, weary, silent beside the sky
Still longing for the spring that never fully bloomed
The last lotus of the season stands lonely and sad
Unaware that it's saving the season itself!
The neighbor girl sneaks out at dawn
Using the morning dew to hide herself from the sun
Regretting the pink lotus, her heart fluttering with tears in her eyes!
Fog rises from the lake, caressing her bright rosy cheeks!
No longer do we see loneliness in the lotus as it opens, smiling
The mirror-like surface reflects the image of a young maiden
Your lips, fresh, blend with the hot lotus
The sun lifts the mist, creating illusions across the sky...
Phan Thúc Định.

Dipping into the depths where murkiness prevails
