1. Poem: SENDING YOU MY LOVE
SENDING YOU MY LOVE
Poem by Cảnh Hưng.
I gather the warmth of past sunlight
And send it to keep you warm during the cold winter days
While outside, the misty evening hangs
Here, the world is already blooming into spring
My hands lift the apricot buds, freshly bloomed
The golden spring feels so distant from you
Someone’s dress catches the color of the evening
As spring dances through the sky and earth
Out there and here, the distance is far too great
So the seasons split between two worlds
The old path still holds flowers and sunlight
And spring still waits for your return
I send a bit of spring’s warmth to you
And all my love from my homeland
The soldier’s footsteps are full of longing
As seasons drift far apart in separation...

2. Poem: I HATE YOU
I HATE YOU
Poem by Canh Hung.
I hate you
For all kinds of reasons
I hate your eyes that always make me feel dizzy
Oh, that captivating gaze
It pierces into the deepest part of my soul
Making sleep restless at night
My dreams always restless
I hate you
I hate your sharp haircut, so cool
I hate your thoughtful forehead, always guessing my thoughts
Yet you pretend like you don't know
I hate your half-smile, so ambiguous...
On your dry, thirsty lips
I hate you
Because whenever you speak
I feel a sharp pain in my heart
When I realize your gaze
Isn't just for me
But for someone else too
Drifting with them
While my soul drowns in the soft melody
I hate you
I hate the lonely mornings
I hate the quiet afternoons
I hate the rainy nights
I hate the sunny days
I hate the time passing slowly
And the empty roads without you
Making me ache with longing
I hate you
Because you know how to write poetry
Why are there so many women in your verses?
So many emotions, so many struggles
Which one is because of me?
Which one is for me?
Oh, I don’t know!
I hate you: why make me remember
That in your poems, it's not just about me
I hate you
Because you keep silent
You don’t share what I want to say
What’s in that “black box” of yours that you can’t...
No matter how upset I get
You stay silent
Yes
I hate you for all these reasons
Expressing my true feelings
But keeping one secret to myself:
When I added everything I hated about you
I realized
I have secretly...fallen in love with you!

3. Poem: PEACE
PEACE
Poem by Canh Hung.
You return, and flowers bloom peacefully
Birds sing
AT THE END OF THE DAY...
Poem by Canh Hung
Whose boat
passes the lonely shore
Leaving the verse
that falls
beside the evening
on the river's edge
The oar
stirs the calm
of a loving shore
And love flows
down the Yangtze river
The person returns
stands still in life
Suddenly lost
regretful
of the faraway sky
The journey
long or short through the years
And the hair brushed...
whispers farewell.

4. Poem: A HUNDRED YEARS OF THE LOVE SONG
A HUNDRED YEARS OF THE LOVE SONG
Poem by Canh Hung.
So, we raise the cup...
exchange the drink
So, we dedicate our whole lives
to each other
From now on
to the distant past
Your eyes send
your smile in return
with passion
Two hearts
strangers
Unite their rhythm
in the same
melody of love
And so, a family is born
Along with... each “flicker of candlelight”
shining warmly together
And so...
we finish the drink!
Vow to journey through this world
for a hundred years!
NCH 12/2018.

5. Poem: YOU…
YOU…
Poem by Canh Hung.
Light each
candle shining
Celebrating the saint’s feast
the bell tolls
drifting away
The foolish rain is gone
Sending you
a thousand joyful sunbeams of the morning
Sending love
with a full heart
A little late autumn
a fragile flower at the end of fall
Oh, you
gentle, humble figure
Still with me
lost in the melody of love
Oh, you
kindling the warm flame
Braving the cold
ignoring the storm
blazing bright
The hymn of praise resounds
Your heart, soaked in every verse of the prayer

6. Poem: LOVE FROM AFAR...
LOVE FROM AFAR...
Poem by Canh Hung
The café is empty now
Only me, all alone
Surrounded by sadness
With a cup of bitter coffee
Oh, my love
You're far away
How the longing swells up
And fills my thoughts
Is it cold there, my dear?
Does the rain fall by your door?
Can you hear a thousand memories?
Growing stronger with each passing day
I wish the wind could carry
My kisses to you
To warm your lips
And bring warmth to your soul
We love from afar
So we are different from the rest
Here's a poem filled with love
To gift you as my present
At night, by my pillow
Do you know, far away
I feel just like you
Longing for each other intensely
Because we are far apart
Love comes with its own sacrifices
Why feel sad anymore, my dear?
Let's just accept each other
And one day, when flowers bloom
I’ll return to be by your side
Because our love was destined
So don’t mind the distance

7. Poem: DREAMY HUE
DREAMY HUE
Poem by Canh Hung
I returned to visit dreamy Hue
Asked my beloved, where are you now?
The longing sent to Van Lau pier
Truong Tien, oh, how many bridges are there to connect souls?
The Imperial Citadel... for how many years
Waiting for someone... silently, covered in moss
Ngự Bình stands there, lost in thought
As the sunset turns the Huong River purple
Morning and night, the Thiên Mụ pagoda resonates
Spreading prayers for peace to everyone
Hue, oh Hue, how I cherish your smile
To those who promised by the Thiên An hill
Huyen Khong stands amidst the thousand clouds
Lăng Cô, with its heavenly beauty
I love you, I love the entire image
Oh, gentle and sweet Hue girl
Your poem hat tilted so elegantly
You guide people through many dreamy places...
Hue, enchanting... leaves me in awe
Hue, as beautiful as a lyrical poem.

8. Poem: LULLABY...
LULLABY...
Poem by Canh Hung
Lull the sun
Then lull the rain
I gather
All four seasons
To lull you
The tune of longing
Still the same
Day dreams, night hopes
When will it be?
Chasing after the future
With wrinkled skin
And gray hair
Still... lull
Softly
The sweet, gentle voice
Once, I lulled you closely
Now, I lull you from afar
Lulling love
As if lulling myself
Lulling you
But it turns out, I'm lulling... love
Quietly lulling
Each drop of silence
Come back now
So that we can - together
Lull each other!
NCH 12/2018.

9. Poem: DON'T WRITE LOVE POEMS ANYMORE, MY DEAR.
DON'T WRITE LOVE POEMS ANYMORE, MY DEAR.
Poem by Canh Hung
You told me not to write love poems anymore
It seems you're dreaming of someone else
So you let your soul drift with the wind
To a distant sky, far beyond
You keep praising her as the perfect one
As the angel of purity in this life
With her hair like clouds, and lips like roses
I keep getting jealous... and it saddens me, my dear!
I, too, am just an ordinary human
I love and argue like everyone else
But when your poems feature another woman
My heart aches and never heals
Then these beautiful women, so alluring
Leave sweet, wet kisses and compliments
Although I know it’s all just an illusion
But still, my dear, I feel so restless
But listen, my love...
The woman in your poems
Is only a creation of your imagination
She’s the essence of countless women combined
How could there ever be just one like her in this world?
NCH 2018.

10. Poem: CHRISTMAS AND YOU
CHRISTMAS AND YOU
Poem by Canh Hung
On Christmas night
The sky sparkles with thousands of stars
In a sea of colors
God watches from above
In the cold
Of a bitter winter
Looking at the lamb
God remains silent
You, so solemn
Recite your prayers in repentance
Hands folded in prayer
Asking for God's mercy, for love?
Your frail form
Wearing a fluttering white robe
Your hair flowing
Gently resting on your small shoulder
You look so pure
Like an angel standing there
Whispering softly
Reading your prayer
I stand from afar
Quietly, alone
In a corner of the church
The night glowing mysteriously
I’m not a devout believer
I don’t love God
I only love you
The sad hymns
Echo through the night
Looking at the manger
Longing for dreams
I'll never forget
Last year's Christmas
You covered your head
With raindrops wetting your shoulders
I followed behind
All the way down the long path
Praying to God
For the rain to stop
The air smelled of sweet-smelling flowers
The streetlights
Shining on us in the night
Our happiness
So gentle, so serene
Listening to the calmness
With every step you took
I love you so much
But no one understands
Our love isn’t marred, yet it hurts
Because in your life
God lives in your mind
I arrived late
Still an outsider
The winter sky
Is often full of storms
What storm
Can compare to the storm in my heart?
Knowing that loving you
Will never come true
But still, my love
Is all for you
One day, we may become strangers
On the road of life
In many directions
Christmas will return
But I will always remember
Your image
All the memories we hold
I will empty my heart
And write my poetry
To remember always
The girl I love

11. Poem: SINGING TO MYSELF
SINGING TO MYSELF.
Poem by Canh Hung.
Let's offer each other
...a glass of wine!
Early winter
mist falls softly
onto my green hair!
Borrow your shoulder
borrow a drop of intoxication
Unsteady
my weakened shadow sways
Joy.
peace at the end of the sky!
Suffering
self-aware in the fleeting human life
What sorrow?
send it with the autumn breeze
What pain...
send it with the temple bell’s calming sound!
We loved
missing an entire spring!
Let go of my hand
release this mortal world, wind, and rain!

12. Poem: WISH....
WISH....
Poem by Canh Hung.
Wish
Just one kiss from you
Warm enough
In the fragile evening light
Wish
From you a word of love
Enough trust
Enough longing
Even swaying, I accept...
Wish
You were like 'a treasure to keep'
Enough to bind
Enough sweetness
Enough... mine
Wish
One more touch of innocence
Enough intoxication
Enough closeness
Complete love
Wish
Sorrow and joy not alone
Someone to share
A common silhouette
Wish
I have only you
Enough trembling
Enough yearning
Enough... love
Wish
Together in all mornings and evenings
Chase away the cold
Erase the loneliness
Passionate
Wish
Even hell or heaven
Hand in hand
Enough of dreaminess...
In the next life!

13. Poem: DRIFTING
DRIFTING
Poem by Canh Hung.
Late at night
eyes look out
silently watching
The moon falls
the world below
shattered into a thousand pieces of flowers
Endless
mist blurs the reflection
Clouds drift lazily
one silk strand flutters
You fall
into the bitter wine cup
Unintentionally drinking it all
I am truly intoxicated
Loneliness gently touches
the edge of my lips
My hand brushes
against
the solitude of my life
The night
holds tightly to the silhouette
My own heart binds
the tangled thread of love
One day
bored with the world of men
I am like
the moon child
playing with golden moonbeams,
wandering in the deep sea waves
High mountains, floating through the drifting life

14. Poem: THE YELLOW MUSTARD BLOOMS... WILL YOU RETURN?
THE YELLOW MUSTARD BLOOMS... WILL YOU RETURN?
By Cảnh Hưng
You promised to return when the mustard flowers bloomed yellow
The fragrance lightly drifts, enchanting and alluring
You remember someone, restless through the nights
Asking where the old moon has gone?
The wind breathes across the cold summer nights
Longing for a gentle touch to clear tangled hair
Wiping the teary eyes, soothing when upset
Rocking into a warm dream, embracing every night
The nightingale dreams of whiteness, as you gaze
Your brown eyes still so tender, just like before
Don’t forget the promise, or the sorrow in the cold winter
The bird has lost its way, leaving a desolate nest
I await your return to pick the early spring buds
And I’ll sew you a beautiful scarf
Together, we’ll continue our journey in this narrow life
The mustard flowers turn yellow... do you know?
NCH.

15. Poem: WHEN WE LOVE EACH OTHER...
WHEN WE LOVE EACH OTHER ........
By Cảnh Hưng
When we love each other, there’s no need to speak
Your eyes have already said everything for us
Just stay silent and gaze into those eyes
Countless words are there, my dear!
When we love each other, why make vows, my dear?
Because promises made wrong are never punished
"Love forever, for a thousand years, always loving"
All sweet words, yet empty, meaningless
For when we love, our hearts feel it
What is it like? It’s hard to put into words
Sometimes silent, sometimes filled with longing
But it lasts forever
When in love, it’s all about trust
What is it like? Who knows what the future holds?
Let’s cherish what we have
And hold it close, like in the beginning
True love doesn’t need fancy words
No need for the chatter of “poets” or smooth talkers
No need for grand phrases
Just love, and keep the longing deep within

16. Poem: YOU RETURN ..
YOU RETURN ..
By Cảnh Hưng
You return
over there
this afternoon
Pick up for me
a bit of the tenderness from the past
Please, sky
slowly pour down rain
If the night wets your clothes – I won’t be back in time
So you won’t get wet
and break a promise
So I won’t lose my way
down the old embankment road

17. Poem: THE FLOWER OF LOVE!
THE FLOWER OF LOVE!
By Cảnh Hưng.
I give you a bouquet of purple roses
Half a lifetime searching, finally found each other
Even though we both came too late
But we cherish what little is left
Though the road ahead is still long
We’ll always be together, our hands never parting
We piece together the fragments of two lives
Finding happiness in the simplest things
We bring each other moments of peace
After the hustle and bustle of daily life
Leaving behind the world’s struggles, returning to ourselves
Yearning for a small family
A dinner waiting in the evening
We await each other after each workday
It’s the pain no longer silently borne
Our smiles now shared, half for each other
That happiness… is right behind the door
A tight embrace, half a lifetime shared
A loving kiss, forgetting all the years of sorrow
The flower of love… filled with loyalty

18. Poem: SENDING WARMTH TO YOU
SENDING WARMTH TO YOU
By Cảnh Hưng.
I heard on the radio that the cold season is coming
I feel for you in Hanoi, with a warm scarf around your neck
The old Cổ Ngư street still holds traces of our footsteps
Yet, the steps are filled with longing from both ends!
When it’s freezing, the peach blossoms can’t bloom in time
I fear your lips losing their vibrant pink hue
I fear the sadness in your eyes as the evening chills settle in
So I want to send you some warmth, my dear.
I send you sunshine on your lips, full of dreams
I send the ocean to make your eyes even bluer
I send the sky, weaving a heavenly cloak for you
Wear it, it’s filled with my warm breath.
I fear the winter winds will dry your skin
I send you my love to keep you warm
I send you the birds flying over the streets
Until the winter leaves and spring returns.
I miss you so much, now hearing the bitter cold
Spreading over the northern lands back home
I was restless and sleepless all night
I want to send you my arms to hold you as you sleep.
The scent of your lovely lips as the peach blossoms open
I shower you with golden sunlight with every step you take
The sound of the new year knocking, heralding the spring
For you, the graceful figure walking into the spring festival.
I hope the warmth comes soon to brush your hair
That’s me sending the sunshine to warm your heart
Wait for me, this spring we’ll meet
Let’s sing our love poem together, shall we?
NCH 1/2019.

19. Poem: HELLO SPRING, MY LOVE
HELLO SPRING, MY LOVE
By Cảnh Hưng
The beloved spring has spread everywhere
Sending love through the tender green leaves
Coloring the land with boundless beauty
The gentle lady lets her soul drift with the breeze
Children laugh and play along the little alley
Smiles bloom on their faces like flowers
The soft rain nourishes the brilliant petals
Touching the emotions of the young soldier’s heart
Spring, full of love, embraces the land and sky of the homeland
The peaceful scenes reflect in the poet’s eyes
The poem captures the beauty of the mountains and rivers
The wanderer walks with his lover by his side
We raise a toast, wishing for happiness and prosperity
May families be blessed with health and joy
May children be showered with blessings and longevity
May the poems of the homeland continue to shine
Sweet, sincere verses forever fill the air
So that the pink spring will forever touch our hearts.

20. Poem: THE HEART OF THE ONE FAR FROM HOME
THE HEART OF THE ONE FAR FROM HOME
By Cảnh Hưng
Spring arrives, peeking at the corner
Wearing a floral coat, chasing away the cold of winter
Glistening dew rests on the branches of blooming apricot flowers
The yellow butterfly hovers, confused by the changing season
I am far from home, living the life of an exile
I have forgotten how many times the moon has waned
Time flows relentlessly, aging my hair
Four seasons pass, carried by the winds of life
I wander like a bird drifting in the sky
Like a wild horse galloping without a destination
The dust of war has changed me many times
My footsteps are lost in the wind, wandering endlessly
But today, I unintentionally stop
Looking at the blooming apricot, realizing spring has arrived
I open my hands, counting how many springs I’ve missed
New Year's celebrations at home seem so distant
My eyes are wet, gazing toward the northern sky
To the endless horizon, so far and unreachable
I wish I could transform into an eagle, spreading my wings
Crossing the space to return to my homeland for Tết
In that place, there are my parents, my family
There’s the road filled with memories of childhood
There’s someone still waiting for me, day and night
Forever in my heart, their love never fades
The one far from home gazes at the sky, blank and lonely
The last rays of sunset shine through the window bars
A deep sadness lingers in my soul
Spreading slowly through the vast land and sky
