1. CORONA FLU OUTBREAK
Nguyễn Thị Khánh Hà
Spring had just arrived at the gate
The flu outbreak came in fast
Causing so much sorrow and pain
For the people of Vietnam
Let us remind everyone to be aware
Be cautious and stay alert
Don’t believe in random rumors
Especially those from the internet
Everyone needs to stay sharp
Listen to the news on TV and radio
Don’t let fake news spread
Creating panic in the community
Don’t be shocked
When face masks go up in price
Due to the selfish actions of some
Who profit and lose their humanity
But out there, everywhere
There are still kind-hearted people
Giving out free face masks
So, don’t worry too much...
We’ve overcome
Many outbreaks before
This one will be the same
Don’t dwell on it too much
Avoid crowded places
Eat well, sleep well
The flu will pass soon
And spring will return...

2. VALENTINE WISHES
Nghi Lâm
I pray to the heavens above
To help our community overcome the pain
May the pandemic soon wave goodbye
And bring peace to the world once again,
Valentine will refresh your spirit
To embrace love that overflows
With your loved one, passionately bound
In sweet, happy moments of bliss.
You gently wish with me
For those couples on their way
As feelings flow like gentle waves
In the vast sea of love, wide open,
We welcome Valentine with joy
Hoping that our love will soon be complete
Forgetting all worries and fears
And bidding farewell to nCoV forever!

3. VALENTINE COMES
Poem by Nghi Lâm
Today is Valentine's Day
I send you my thoughts with endless love
The poem carries my lingering emotions
My phone clicks, sending it to you clear and loud.
May you receive the sweetness
Of a love that has lasted for years
Even though the virus spreads its fear
Nothing can stop me from being with you today.
We celebrate our peaceful happiness
With flowers and candles in the warmth of spring
No more waiting in vain
Valentine's Day brings joy to our hearts.
Though sometimes we must sigh
Feeling for Wuhan fighting hard
The virus spreads fiercely
As the residents suffer uninvited pain.
Now, let’s celebrate this wonderful day
Don't forget those far away
Love is as deep as it can be
Let’s share warmth, love, and kindness with all!
(Ho Chi Minh City, morning of 14/02/2020.)

4. JANUARY EMOTIONS - 2020
Poem and photo by Lan Thanh
Corona tears apart the spring season
The village festival no longer feels alive
The rain spreads like a web at the door
And the bells chime in, as if whispering "whose soul?"
The misty smoke chills the shoulders
The scent of grapefruit lingers in the air
The cold wind seems to have not said goodbye
The peach blossoms bloom late at the sunset’s corner.
It feels like Corona makes the cold sweeter
The January moon hides itself like a secret
The streets are dull with gray clouds
Suddenly, a figure appears by the half-closed door.
Where are the dreamy Spring girls?
Where are the waists bending in the breeze?
Where are the starry eyes gazing into the sky?
Oh, now, I whisper to myself alone.

5. MASK OF THE TIME
Poem by Trinh Thanh Hang
Once, you were careless, as always
Sixty-one boxes, who really needs them?
Who could have known, just as spring arrived
Corona turned your life around
Friends and family, those so dear
Kindly offered a box for three hundred
It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance
Buy through the front door, whispers through the back
*************
Now, wanting to buy, but none to be found
I had to make my own, sew it myself
This one made from plastic bags
Does anyone at home have any baby diapers?
Big and small clothes, haphazardly
Cut and sew, who cares, it’s for use
With the mask, I stay indifferent
Be wary of price hikes, lest we face boycotts
*********
Dear, I'll give it all up right away
If they catch me, I’ll lose my job
The people are also so caring
Please, don’t be angry, come back to me
Let’s work together, day and night
Fighting the respiratory disease, so no one else falls sick
Life is once again a beautiful dream
We walk side by side under the stars, no anger to bear
Poem by Trinh Thanh Hang

6. THE SADNESS OF JANUARY
Poem by Phan Huy Hung
The sadness falls in January
Corona spreads, tilting the village
The temples are left in disrepair
The verses seal the gates with masks blocking the way.
Goodbye, I bow with my turban askew
Oh, my love, waiting with sorrowful eyes
The plague floods even into our dreams
Awake, only to find we had not made plans.
Corona struck suddenly
Dividing lovers, leaving the temple square empty
The doors now wear their masks too
Our eyes meet, startled by the unexpected.
We return to Facebook, dreaming
The waves of love open the doors, calling her to stroll
I fly... fly high in the sky
And let the sadness fall... to sprout joy!

7. THE VIRUS OF THE MODERN AGE
Poem by Phan Huy Hung
Sleep takes me to a nightmare one day
Meeting the corona virus, its face neither thick nor thin
Rosy and smooth on both sides
The upper half a man, the lower half a woman.
Sleep leads me near and far
Meeting corona with a human face, yet unrecognizable
The shape of a man shifting to a triangle
Closer, it becomes a diamond...
Sleep brings me to face life
The corona virus rises to power
Speaking money, laughing out dollars with a cough
Sneaking into motels with invisible wings.
The nightmare passes, but the spiritual haunting lingers
These viruses of the modern age
Like puppets on a string, logs suddenly rise
Dancing on the stage to teach humanity?

8. HUMOROUS FACE MASKS AGAINST THE CORONA EPIDEMIC
Poem by Nguyễn Thị Khánh Hà
A collection of different face masks
Made by hand in the village of Facebook
Looking into the heart, feeling giddy
Optimistic and cheerful, ignoring the chaos
Ignoring the ruthless people
Selfishly raising prices, spreading everywhere
We are all of the same kind
Why then steal each other's smiles?
Stop, wake up quickly
So we can accumulate virtue for our future lives.

9. THE PAINTING OF CORONA
Poem by Nguyễn Thị Khánh Hà
The virus spreads to us
Teachers are "unqualified" and stay off the streets
Children "don’t have to" go to school
After eating and playing, they sit in bed chopping away at Facebook.
What should parents do?
When work still piles up at the office
If there are no grandparents at home
Who will watch the kids while we follow the shift?
Should we also stay home?
We can’t survive without a salary to feed the children
Festivals and travel are no longer around
Production is stalled, and businesses wither.
The economy is suffering for everyone
What should we do in such tough times?
We pray to the heavens to end this disease
So that our people can return to peace and happiness.

10. LIM FESTIVAL IN THE CORONA SEASON
Poem by Trịnh Thanh Hằng
He returns to the Lim Festival
Asking where the boatmen have drowned
Here lies the red scarf left behind
The scattered offerings are nowhere to be found.
With a shy smile, she laughs
The betel leaves are ready but no one is offering
The traditional attire seems unnecessary
The festival enters the pandemic with few people around.
The conical hats are loosely hung
Folk singers' hands are tired from the long journey
Who could have predicted after a thousand years
That Corona would suddenly come and vanish?
The Lim Festival has not even begun
No songs, no betel leaves, just empty spaces
We return to the Cầu River bank
To scoop up the sinking words of our lost friends.

11. THE SORROW OF EARLY SPRING
Poetry by: Nguyễn Đình Hưng
This spring has arrived at every home
But still, the cold of winter lingers behind
Corona spreads pain everywhere
Rain adds to the chill, distorting the spring's beauty
Children have been off school for a week
Parents are turning in circles, burdened with new struggles
Offices and businesses are tangled up
Schedules are rearranged, leading to reduced revenue
Festivals are quiet, filled with sorrow
People now wear masks, faces hidden
Why doesn't spring bring peace and ease?
Why must this sorrow interrupt the season's first moments?
Hà Nội, February 4, 2020.

12. OVERWHELMED
Poetry by Hồng Soi
At the start of the year, we're overwhelmed by the “corona” disease
Too scared to leave, we stay at home
The entire country is on alert to prevent the spread
The world is responding, taking steps from afar
Schools advise against attending classes
Hospitals announce shifts are changing
Truly, the start of this year feels cursed
Streets are deserted, with few people outside!

13. VALENTINE 2020
Poetry by Phan Huy Hùng
I stay inside, never stepping out
You, too, don't cross the threshold
Corona virus laughs out loud
As we, lovers, remain in isolation...
You’re over there, logging into your computer
I’m here, tapping away on my phone
Our images soar freely across the sky
Sending sweet words to each other.
Valentine’s feels like our first love
Surviving the cruel corona virus
The bond between us grows stronger
As you and I come together in trust...
Valentine 2020 spreads across the land
The air alive with digital waves
The kiss, seen far and wide
Lights up our lives!
February 12, 2020. Poetry by Hùng Phan.

14. Chùm thơ Đối họa - NGUYÊN TIÊU CANH TÝ
Đinh Xuân Bình - Lê Ngọc Kiên - Đinh Chữ
Poem Prompt
Đinh Xuân Bình
As spring arrives, the world dreams anew
The first full moon of the year, a surprise too
Corona’s wrath, a plague we face
Festivals closed, silence fills the space
Worry fills the days, waiting for a sign
The moment we meet, longing hearts align
Hoping the world will end its strife
We drink and laugh, shaking off the knife
Poem Answer
Lê Ngọc Kiên
Spring comes, yet some dreams are still bound
But this year, a different fate has been found
The sickness spreads, a devastating blow
The poets’ pause, the verses slow
Young hearts await, hopes held in mind
Loneliness lingers, no solace to find
We wait for a better day to come
Joy in the dialogues, spirits undone
Poem Answer
Đinh Chữ
*
The first full moon, a long-held dream
Yet now it halts, an unexpected scheme
Corona spreads from China far
The world in chaos, hearts scarred
Neighbors close borders, trade is sealed
In the face of this, we do not yield
Vietnam's intellect faces this trial
The flu passes, but hope endures with style

15. STILL THE WORDS OF LOVE
Poem by Nguyễn Trường
My dear, never before
Has the world loved one another
But it all started with pain
Because of the nCoV!
Spring hasn't even passed a third
Thousands of people have gone far away!
Millions are torn apart
The Earth bears a SIGN OF PROHIBITION!
Everywhere, rooms are sealed tight,
Face masks are worn all day long,
Soap to wash our hands so clean
We kiss through a layer of cloth.
Testing our patience
We ignite the flame of our hearts
Cold will end, the warmth will rise
Prove your love, my dear.

16. KEEP YOURSELF SAFE FROM YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Poem by Quang Vũ
The disease spreads rapidly,
Today, notices have been sent to the ministries.
On the other side, in China, the outbreak begins,
Nearby, Vietnam faces the storm’s rage.
Dizziness, headaches, countless symptoms
Coughing, sore throats, are they clear?
People from the South, North, all are infected
We must protect ourselves and those around us.
SOME ADVICE
In the morning, rinse your mouth with lemon water,
After a shower, dry off quickly,
Cover your mouth with a tight mask,
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap.
Avoid crowds gathering,
Don’t eat food that’s not properly cooked,
Here’s some advice for you and your friends
To stop the spread of illness and stay safe.

17. Valentine's Day during the nCoV
Poem by Nguyễn Lan Hương
Valentine has arrived again
In the midst of this pandemic
The disease still lingers
What gift can we give?
Why roses, what's the use?
Our love is already deep enough
Chocolate, sweet and bitter
Can't compare to the taste of your lips
Lipstick, it’s okay for now
You don’t need it, my dear
Laughing softly, I ask
What if I give you a mask instead?
Ah, yes, that’s perfect
To cover up your pure smile
Only your eyes remain visible
And they shine like the stars in the sky
Hand sanitizer, I'll give it to you
Remember to disinfect, my love
Though this virus is strong
It still fears the love between us.
Corona season
On Valentine's Day, joy we seek
Let's exchange our wishes
For a world without nCoV.
Valentine's 2020

18. TEN RULES TO FIGHT CORONA
Poem by Nguyễn Lan Hương
First, wear a mask, my love
Second, spray disinfectant to stay safe
Third, don’t leave trash lying around
Fourth, don’t share towels at home
Fifth, avoid lingering in public places
Sixth, keep warm to prevent infection
Seventh, keep your hands and feet clean
Eighth, eat enough food with fiber
Ninth, don't be careless
If you're sick, don’t hesitate to see a doctor
Tenth, live with compassion
And together we can defeat the pandemic, bringing peace to the world.
The corona disaster will fade away
Ten rules, I send you my wishes this spring.

19. VALENTINE IN THE CORONA SEASON
Poetry by Dao Manh Thanh
Today is Valentine's Day
But why do I feel uncertain about everything?
Our love is like the wind with a kite
It always soars, floating in the endless breeze.
Deep and passionate love
After many years, it still burns brightly.
Who needs roses anyway?
We give each other love, not just for a day, but with sincerity.
Out there, waves are threatening
CO RO NA, it's frightening for everyone.
What if we catch the disease?
Then where would our happiness be, forever together?
Well, we’ll have to wait till next year
This year, let's just give each other this
A medical mask, to show
Our effort to prevent the spread of the virus.
When the pandemic is over
We'll resume our love, vibrant and strong.
Dear one, please understand my heart
Our love is pure and enduring, like a single bright light.

20. VALENTINE AND CORONA
Poetry by Hoa Lu
It's all because of corona
That we’ve had to stay apart for two weeks
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner
But looks like we won’t be able to do much this time.
Face masks are more expensive than usual
Spending money to avoid the disease, what now?
Gifts are far away in the sky
And we can’t even kiss with these masks on.
We miss each other... thinking about it chokes me up
We can’t rush into each other like before
Spring is here, but the rain has soaked us
My lips are sweet but we can’t even get close.
We’re avoiding the harmful virus
So we’ll have to wait a few weeks for peace
Carefully avoiding the disease
When it’s over, we’ll celebrate our love with passion.
We’ll try hard, okay?
Love is on hold, but that’s a good plan
At least we’re saving money
We’ll get through this together, as we always do.
