1. Removing Stains

2. Cleaning Dish Sponges
If your kitchen dish sponge turns black and starts to emit an unpleasant smell, it's tempting to just toss it and buy a new one. But if it's still relatively new, or you can't easily go out and buy another, try this method. Soak the sponge in a saltwater solution (1 part salt to 4 parts water) for 3-4 minutes, then rinse it clean and dry it under the sun. Your sponge will look much better than before.

3. Cleaning Burnt Pots
When cooking, your pot may sometimes overflow, making it difficult to clean. To tackle this, sprinkle salt over the wet spill and once the pot cools down, simply wipe it clean with a cloth. Additionally, salt is great for removing burnt food from the bottom of a pot. Soak the pot in a saltwater solution before scrubbing, and the burnt residue will come off easily.

4. Cleaning Artificial Flowers
Artificial flowers, especially small ones, are often used for long periods but are rarely cleaned because many people don't know how to do so without damaging them. To clean them, place the flowers in a plastic bag, add some salt, and tie the bag securely, making sure the air inside causes the bag to puff up. Then, simply shake the bag vigorously, and the salt will help remove the dust and dirt from the flowers.

5. Preserving Fresh Milk
Fresh milk typically has a short shelf life, usually only 24 hours after opening. If you'd like to extend its freshness, add a pinch of salt to the milk, close the container, and shake it well. This will help preserve the milk for a longer period.

6. Keeping Ants Out of the House
Do ants frequently invade your home? Do you despise these little creatures entering your beloved house? Drive them away by scattering salt at the entrance or directly at their nest, and they will no longer bother you.

7. Eliminating Odors from Shoes
Do your sneakers often carry unpleasant odors, and you're wondering how to deal with them without washing them constantly? Regularly sprinkle some salt inside your shoes to help reduce the smell. Additionally, it's a good idea to place them outside to dry in the sun.

8. Fixing Overly Bitter Coffee
If you love coffee but accidentally brew it too bitter one day, don’t throw it away just yet. Add a pinch of salt to your coffee to help balance out the bitterness and improve the flavor.

9. Relieving Itching
To alleviate pain and reduce swelling from a bee sting, remove the stinger, wet the sting area, and apply a little salt. This will help soothe the pain. If you've been bitten by mosquitoes and the area is swollen, soak the bite in a salt solution, then apply some ointment or vegetable oil, and the discomfort will subside.

10. Peeling Hard-Boiled Eggs
Boiled eggs are a simple and easy kitchen staple. However, sometimes the shells stick to the egg, making it difficult to peel, especially when making dishes like braised pork with eggs, where rough-looking eggs can be unappealing. To make peeling easier, add a bit of salt to the water while boiling the eggs. This will help the shells come off more easily.

11. Prevent Candles from Dripping
Soak the candle in a highly salted water solution for a few hours, then dry it thoroughly. This will help prevent excessive dripping when the candle is lit.

12. Refresh Your Walls
To fill nail holes or small dents in the wall, mix two tablespoons of salt with two tablespoons of cornstarch, then add about five teaspoons of water to create a paste. Use this paste to fill the holes in your wall.

13. Eliminate Odors on Your Hands
If your fingers smell of onions or garlic, wash them with soap and water, then scrub with a mixture of salt and vinegar to remove the odor.

14. Prolong the Life of Your Cheese
To prevent mold from forming on cheese, wrap it in a cloth soaked with a saltwater solution before storing it in the fridge.

15. Prevent Brown Spots on Fruits
While lemon or vinegar is commonly used to preserve apples and pears from browning, you can also soak them in a diluted saltwater solution to keep them fresh for longer.

16. Clean Your Refrigerator
Mix a saltwater solution with soda and use it to wipe down the inside of your fridge, removing odors without resorting to harsh cleaning chemicals that could harm your food.

17. Clean Your Iron
Sprinkle some salt onto a plain white cloth and iron over the salt. This will help absorb any dirt or grime stuck in the crevices of the iron's soleplate.

18. Maintain Oral Hygiene
Instead of buying an expensive mouthwash, why not use salt? Mix one teaspoon of salt with one teaspoon of baking soda, then dissolve it in half a cup of water. Brush your teeth thoroughly and rinse with this solution. Your teeth will be as white as using mouthwash, plus it helps prevent bad breath and protect tooth enamel.

19. Extinguish Flames in a Grease Pan
When cooking dishes with a lot of oil, it's not uncommon for the pan to catch fire. In such cases, many people usually cover the pan with a lid. But what if you don't have a lid that fits your pan? Should you pour water in? No! Never pour water into a burning grease pan; it will only make things worse. Instead, sprinkle some salt on the fire. The salt will help calm the flames, and then you can turn off the stove and continue cooking after a short while.

20. Eliminate Weeds
It may sound unusual, but simply sprinkle salt directly on the weeds you want to get rid of. This way, you won't have to bend down and pull the weeds manually, yet your garden will remain neat. However, this method is best suited for small areas, and it may not be practical for larger gardens—buying enough salt for a whole garden might cost you more than you think.
