Dear esteemed guests and participants, the Lunar New Year (Tết Nguyên Đán) is the most important festival in Vietnam, celebrated for thousands of years. It symbolizes a deep spiritual connection to our ancestors, a time for family reunions, and an opportunity to remember our roots. Tết marks the transition from the old year to the new, bridging the cycles of nature and life.

Today, as we join the nation in celebrating the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and preparing for the Lunar New Year, our school is proudly hosting the “Spring Festival Fun” competition. This event aims to instill traditional values in our children, to bring joy to the kids during the Tết holiday, and to showcase the collaboration between parents and the school, as well as the support from local authorities.

Our Spring Festival this year features a variety of exciting and culturally rich activities, such as a Tết market, bánh chưng wrapping contest, and games. Now, let’s enjoy a vibrant cultural atmosphere as the children and teachers present an exciting arts program themed around Spring.

1. Performances:

1.1 Opening the program, we have a dance medley “Happy New Year” performed by the 5-year-old class. Let's give them a big round of applause to encourage them.

1.2 What does Tết mean? Let’s find out through the performance “Tết is Tết” by the 3-year-old class and their teachers.

Balloon Passing Game for Preschoolers.

During Tết, many traditional games such as the bamboo pole dance, cock fighting, tug-of-war, and ring toss bring joy and laughter. Today’s festival includes the Balloon Passing Game and Tết Tree Decoration contest. Let me explain the rules of the games:

- The Balloon Passing Game: For preschool children (competition by class). Each class selects a team of 10 children. They will take turns using a board to pass a balloon to the top and place it into a basket. The team with the most balloons in the basket after the music ends wins the most points.

- The Tết Tree Decoration Contest: For Kindergarten children.

Flowers like peach blossoms and apricot blossoms are a vital part of Tết, symbolizing the essence of both northern and southern Vietnam. Each class will create their own Tết tree. Let’s continue to enjoy the creativity of our young participants.

* Event 2 “Cuisine” – The Bánh Chưng Wrapping Contest: (20 minutes)

Tết is also a time for feasting, and no Tết celebration is complete without Bánh Chưng, a traditional square sticky rice cake. Today, we’re hosting a competition to see who can wrap the most beautiful, fastest, and most delicious Bánh Chưng. Each team will consist of one teacher, three parents, and three children, and after 20 minutes, the team that wraps the most cakes will win.

* Event 3 “Market Stall Display” – Tết Product Exhibition: (15 minutes)

Now, let’s take a look at the Tết market, which will feature various products like sweets, fruits, and toys, presented by the children and their parents. Each team will create a market stall showcasing Tết products, and the team with the most creative and attractive stall will win.

Now, while the teams finish their displays, let’s move to the next segment: the presentation of the “Charity Rice Jars” and “Warm Clothing” gifts.

Giving Gifts:

In accordance with the directive of the school, we have organized the “Charity Rice Jars” and “Warm Clothing” programs to support underprivileged children and teachers during the Tết holiday. We would like to present small gifts to the children and teachers in need, as part of the Vietnamese tradition of mutual assistance and solidarity.
