1. Essay on the Role of the Youth Union: Number 4
It can be said that few nations have undergone as many struggles to protect their independence, freedom, and national sovereignty as Vietnam. From the early days of the Văn Lang state until now, our country has gone through many turbulent historical periods. However, regardless of the era or circumstances, the youth have always played a pioneering role, dedicating their youthful years and even blood to win independence and freedom for the nation.
Perhaps the image of young Nguyễn Tất Thành crossing vast oceans to seek a path to save the country, or the image of Võ Thị Sáu, a young woman from the red earth of the Eastern region, smiling before the enemy’s gunpoint, or the rallying cry “aiming directly at the enemy to shoot” of comrade Nguyễn Viết Xuân will forever be etched in the memory of our people. After the complete reunification of the country, under the guiding light of Marxism-Leninism, the youth movement continued to play a core role in the construction and defense of the socialist Vietnam.
Honored to bear the name of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union, over the years, youth members have spread across every corner of the country. Like bees spreading sweet nectar to life, selflessly and with no private motives, the youth have truly dedicated their lives to the nation. From images of teachers braving rivers and forests to bring knowledge to children in remote areas, teaching them lessons in patriotism; to the radiant smiles of young workers in factories, producing goods that serve daily life; to the touching scenes of volunteer youth soldiers in blue uniforms helping communities combat and recover from natural disasters; and the unwavering bravery of the police and military guarding the country, ensuring citizens can sleep soundly at night. These are just some of the beautiful images of today’s youth, and they only reflect a small fraction of the immense contributions youth make in this new era.
In the present time of globalization, our nation faces both opportunities and challenges. Youth will continue to be the vanguard of the Party in implementing the policies for national development. Understanding this, hostile forces have plotted to influence and manipulate the political thoughts of young people, promoting self-transformation; exploiting the development of science and technology, as well as the globalization of information through social media platforms like Facebook, Zalo, Twitter, to spread reactionary ideas and advocate for lifestyles that conflict with Vietnamese cultural values. In reality, a segment of youth has fallen into aimlessness, indulging in social vices. Some have even been manipulated by adversaries, lured into anti-government activities, slandering the regime, and rejecting the historical role of youth in the nation's progress.
Perhaps this is why some have made the assertion that today’s youth are without ideals, easily swayed, doing little but demanding much. I believe this statement is entirely superficial, reflecting a subjective and negative view of the role and position of youth in this new period. Could this be an opinion made without deep thought, or perhaps, intentionally or unintentionally, it contradicts the expectations of the Party and the nation regarding the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union? It shows a lack of awareness of the dedication, sweat, and sacrifice of countless Vietnamese youth who continue to selflessly contribute to the construction and defense of the nation today.
So, do you, fellow youth members, share my thoughts? In this new era, what should youth in our province do to promote their historical role and responsibility? In my opinion, we must carry out the following key tasks:
First, we must determine that the only ideal for youth is the communist ideal. Youth must understand that the communist ideal is the dream, the aspiration, the continuous struggle, and the willingness to sacrifice personal interests for the common good of the entire nation. It is absolute loyalty to the path of socialism chosen by the Party, Uncle Hồ, and the people, and it is an ongoing contribution to the industrialization and modernization of the country for the goal of a “prosperous, powerful, democratic, just, and civilized” Vietnam. This is the most important task for today’s youth to identify with, as it ensures that youth do not deviate from their goals and strengthens their political resilience, preventing manipulation by hostile forces. This will also help to establish ethical standards and lifestyles that align with the traditions and values of Vietnamese people, contributing to a society of mutual love, solidarity, and a united nation that can overcome difficulties and challenges.
Second, youth must develop a spirit of self-learning, self-discipline, and strive to acquire knowledge, creatively absorb achievements in science and technology, and master modern technology to serve the country's economic development. This reflects the great role of youth in the new era. Both theory and practice prove that only youth, with their youthful energy, enthusiasm, dynamism, and creativity, can actively and effectively engage in all fields and industries, serving as a key factor in determining the success or failure of the country's development strategy. The Vietnamese people have a tradition of intelligence and hard work, and youth must know how to leverage this invaluable legacy in research, study, labor, and production, accelerating the industrialization and modernization of the country.
Third, youth must take responsibility for enthusiastically, voluntarily, and actively participating in the activities of the Youth Union. They should embody the spirit of “Wherever youth are needed, there the youth should be,” without discrimination by profession, ethnicity, or religion. As youth members, we should eagerly participate in movements like “Three Responsibilities,” “Youth for Rural Development,” and “Helping Children Go to School,” ensuring these movements spread widely and raise the value of each initiative. These movements are not only a training ground for youth but also serve as a platform to unite and gather youth around the Youth Union organization. Therefore, each youth member and Union officer should focus on fostering the development of these movements in both content and form, creating a compelling and attractive force that can draw support from all segments of society.
Our country is still facing poverty, and many people struggle to make a living. The shadow of our enemies still lingers, so now more than ever, the youth must prove their historical mission in the construction and defense of socialist Vietnam. With the resilience, energy, and creativity of youth, under the glorious banner of the Youth Union, I am confident that youth will fulfill the tasks entrusted by the Party and the people.

2. Essay on the Role of the Youth Union No. 1
In every era, youth play a pivotal role in the construction and defense of the nation. Without the youth, the great tasks of the country would be difficult to accomplish. Speaking about the role of youth, President Hồ Chí Minh once said, "Youth are the backbone of the country, the future masters of the nation, where youth are needed, there youth shall be." This strongly affirms the significant and expansive role of youth across many areas. In response to the demands of national construction and defense, one of the urgent tasks for the youth generation today is to clearly recognize their role and responsibility.
Building the nation requires hard work and contributions that ensure stability, development, and prosperity. As President Hồ Chí Minh said, it is about making the nation capable of “standing shoulder to shoulder with the powerful nations of the world.”
Protecting the nation means safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as protecting socialism and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Building and defending the nation is a task for the entire people. However, it is the youth who are the vanguard in this sacred mission.
In society, youth represent the largest and most capable force, the future leaders of the nation. With their youth, abundant health, enthusiasm, courage, and creativity, they are quick to adapt and embrace new, progressive ideas. This demonstrates that youth are the most advanced labor force in the country. Therefore, the task of building and defending the nation is of paramount importance to the youth of today.
Continuing and developing the achievements of the past is the essence of human society. It is the youth who will inherit and carry forward the mission of building and defending the country. Youth will take on this responsibility as the older generation completes their mission.
For youth working in offices and organizations, they must work with enthusiasm and creativity, continuously learning and embracing new, progressive ideas, improving productivity, and generating wealth for themselves and the nation.
Youth must also strive to protect national sovereignty and the country’s independence. They must embody national unity, live harmoniously with the people, and resolutely oppose the destructive actions of hostile forces, as well as any infringement on the nation's territory or foreign aggression.
Youth must live with the moral values of the nation, comply with the law, and raise awareness about the times and the direction set by the people and the government. They should take an active interest in the political and social life of their locality and the nation, implement all policies and laws set by the Party and the state, and encourage others to do the same.
For school-age youth, they must study diligently, creatively, and purposefully. Their study and work should have clear goals and motives. They should actively cultivate good ethics, conduct themselves with integrity, and avoid social vices. They must be aware of and fight against the detrimental influences of consumerist lifestyles that deviate from the traditional cultural and moral values of the nation.
Youth must actively contribute to the development of their communities by engaging in meaningful and practical activities, such as protecting the environment, fighting social vices, alleviating poverty, combating corruption, and promoting social justice. They should also speak out against any actions that harm the national interest.
However, some youth remain indifferent and fail to recognize their role and responsibility in the collective effort to build and protect the nation. Many fall into social vices and lose their future. Some have even been manipulated by hostile forces to engage in actions against the state, which is a betrayal of the nation's moral values. Such individuals must be condemned and punished. Loyalty to the country and playing an active role in the nation's development and defense should be the most important mission for today’s youth. Every youth must understand that self-improvement is essential to fulfill the expectations of being the future of the nation as President Hồ Chí Minh envisioned.
"The highest moral virtue of mankind is love for the nation." There is no sin more contemptible than betrayal of the country. One can separate a person from the nation, but one cannot separate the nation from the person. Therefore, today’s youth must raise their awareness and live aligned with the mission of building and defending the nation. Defending the nation means defending the very lives of all of us.

3. Essay on the Role of the Youth Union No. 2
Humans have always been the decisive factor in the fate of any nation or people, especially the youth – the promising generation that shapes the future of the country. That’s why, before his passing, President Hồ Chí Minh did not forget to leave advice for the youth in his will: "Our Youth Union members are generally good, enthusiastic, fearless in the face of difficulties, and have a progressive spirit..." These words show his special regard for the qualities, abilities, and strength of the youth generation.
"Union members" and "youth" represent young people full of energy, passion, and dedication, holding immense influence over the nation’s future. They are the generation brimming with vitality and the ability to quickly adapt to societal developments. By evaluating the youth’s qualities and abilities as "enthusiastic, fearless in the face of challenges, and forward-thinking," these words also reflect Hồ Chí Minh's trust in them and remind the younger generation to make an effort to develop their roles in building and defending the nation.
History has shown that Hồ Chí Minh’s assessment of the youth was spot on. During the war against foreign invaders, many young men and women, though still in their youth, voluntarily enlisted in the army and fought valiantly, achieving remarkable victories despite the horrors and intensity of the war. Today, the Vietnamese people still remember the glorious pages of history, marked by the bravery and courage of the youth during the "Vietnam War against the US." In peacetime, the youth continue to strive, improve themselves, and enhance their knowledge, intellect, and talents. Whether in technology competitions, robotics, or other youth talent shows, Vietnamese youth consistently contribute useful innovations, asserting the nation's position on the global intellectual stage. They are also the vanguard in national reforms and progress. With strong will, they face challenges head-on and push through adversity, embodying Hồ Chí Minh's advice: "Wherever youth are needed, they shall be; wherever there is hardship, youth shall rise." Thus, with their abilities, good qualities, and determination, the youth are always the backbone of the nation’s sustainable development.
However, in society, there are still some Union members and youth who have yet to fulfill their responsibilities. These individuals avoid effort, shy away from challenges, and hesitate when faced with difficulties.
To realize their full potential and role, as Hồ Chí Minh advised, "Youth must be the pillars of the nation," the youth need to be aware of their responsibility in the national development and defense. This involves setting meaningful life goals and cultivating strong will to improve their qualities and abilities.
Through Hồ Chí Minh’s words, we understand the inherent potential, strengths, and responsibilities of the youth. As students, part of the Youth Union, we must constantly strive to contribute our full potential to the nation's growth.

4. Essay on the Role of the Youth Union No. 3
The image of Nguyễn Tất Thành, the young man who crossed vast oceans to seek a path to save the nation, and the image of Võ Thị Sáu, a girl from the Red Soil region of the Eastern South, smiling in the face of enemy guns, or the rallying cry of Nguyễn Viết Xuân, 'Aim at the enemy!' will forever be etched in the nation’s memory. After the complete reunification of the country, guided by the principles of Communism, the youth continued to play a central role in the mission to build and protect Socialist Vietnam.
With the honor of bearing the name of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union, our youth have spread across every corner of the nation. Like bees collecting honey for the benefit of others, selflessly and without personal gain, young people have dedicated their lives to the country. From teachers trekking through streams and forests to bring education to children in remote areas, instilling in them love for the nation, to the bright smiles of young workers in factories producing goods for the people’s needs; the emotional sight of youth volunteers braving storms and floods to assist citizens in disaster recovery; and the proud presence of police officers and soldiers guarding the nation’s borders, ensuring safety for the people. These images represent just a glimpse of the immense contributions of our youth in this new era.
In today’s age of globalization, our nation faces both opportunities and challenges. Youth will remain the vanguard in implementing the Party’s policies and guiding the country’s development. Recognizing this, hostile forces have tried to influence the youth’s political thought, promoting self-dissolution; they exploit advances in science, technology, and information globalization, using social media platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, and Twitter to spread reactionary ideas and propagate lifestyles that contradict the Vietnamese cultural values. Indeed, there are some youth who live without ideals and fall into social vices. In extreme cases, certain individuals have been manipulated by hostile forces to engage in activities that undermine the government and slander the regime, attempting to erase the historical role of youth in the country’s development.
This may explain why some have criticized today's youth as lacking ideals, easily manipulated, and expecting rewards without effort. In my view, this criticism is unfair, subjective, and negative regarding the role of youth in modern times. It reflects a momentary judgment that disregards the Party’s and the nation’s hopes for the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union, undermining the sacrifices made by countless Vietnamese youth who have devoted themselves to building and defending the country.
Do you, as Union members and youth, share my thoughts? In this new era, what should we, the youth of our hometown, do to fulfill our historical responsibilities? In my opinion, we need to focus on several key tasks:
First, we must embrace a single ideal: the Communist ideal. Youth must understand that the Communist ideal represents dreams and aspirations, striving and sacrificing personal benefits for the collective good of the people. It signifies unwavering loyalty to the socialist path chosen by the Party, President Hồ Chí Minh, and the people, and a continuous contribution to the industrialization and modernization of the country for the goal of 'A prosperous, strong, democratic, just, and civilized nation.' This is the most crucial aspect for the youth today. Only by following this ideal will we avoid deviation, strengthen our political resilience, and resist external influences. This will also help us build a moral foundation that aligns with Vietnam’s traditions, fostering a society where people care for and support one another, united in overcoming challenges.
Second, youth should foster a spirit of self-learning and self-improvement, actively acquiring knowledge and mastering modern technologies to contribute to the nation's economic development. This is an essential role for youth in the new era. Both theory and practice show that only youth, with their vigor, passion, and creativity, can effectively contribute to every field, playing a crucial role in the success or failure of national development strategies. With the Vietnamese tradition of intelligence, diligence, and perseverance, youth should harness this invaluable legacy in research, study, labor, and production to accelerate the country’s industrialization and modernization.
Third, youth must actively participate in Youth Union activities with enthusiasm, commitment, and a positive attitude. Following the spirit of 'Wherever youth are needed, wherever there’s difficulty, youth will be there,' regardless of profession, ethnicity, or religion, youth should eagerly engage in movements such as 'Three Responsibilities,' 'Youth for New Rural Construction,' and 'Help the Children Go to School,' to spread the value of these movements. These activities not only serve as platforms for youth development but also unite youth within the Youth Union organization, requiring each member and youth leader to foster the growth of these movements, both in content and form, to engage society at all levels.
Our nation is still developing, with many challenges ahead. Now more than ever, youth must demonstrate their historical mission in building and defending Socialist Vietnam. With determination, energy, and creativity, under the glorious flag of the Youth Union, I am confident that our youth will successfully fulfill the tasks entrusted to them by the Party and the people.
