Trần Quốc Toản Primary School was founded in 1955 as Lương Khánh Thiện Primary School (at the time, it was the only primary school in Phủ Lý). The school initially had around 10 classes with 300-500 students. In the 1976-1977 academic year, it merged with a secondary school to become Trần Quốc Toản General Education School. In 1994-1995, the school split again and became Trần Quốc Toản Primary School.

In the 2000-2001 school year, the school was officially recognized as a national standard school level 1. Over the years, thanks to its enthusiastic and dedicated teachers, the school has consistently maintained high standards in teaching and learning. The school’s academic quality remains strong, and its students have excelled in various competitions. In the 2015-2016 academic year, the school won 2 first prizes, 7 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and 2 encouragement prizes in the provincial English Olympiad.
