Essay 1:
Every time I visit my grandparents in the countryside, I have truly unforgettable experiences. The peaceful rural area brings many wonderful and interesting things.
It could be the mornings I woke up early to walk with my grandfather on the vast rice fields, breathing in the scent of the new rice blossoms. Or the delicious meals my grandmother cooked, simple yet filled with her love. Or the afternoons when I would play with my neighborhood friends, flying kites and fishing in the fields. There are so many beautiful memories, but there is one that I will always remember.
This particular memory happened when I was ten years old. My older brother Hoàng and I decided to go fishing. After a while, we heard loud cheers from a distance. A group of schoolchildren were having a swimming competition. We ran over to see what was going on, and it turned out to be a group of neighbors I had met just the day before. I was excited and immediately asked if I could join in. I invited my brother Hoàng to participate, but he declined. I knew why he refused. He had once won first place in a city-wide swimming competition, and although he loved swimming, an incident had made him give up that dream. That made me feel sad...
Our group of five competitors began, with Tuấn—my best friend from the neighborhood—serving as the referee. Once the whistle blew, the race began. The cheers and encouragement echoed across the river. All the competitors were equally matched, swimming side by side. I pushed myself to swim harder, but then I suddenly felt my left leg go numb. I slowed down and fell behind. I heard someone shout, "I think Lâm has a cramp!"
I struggled in the water, but I couldn’t keep going. I don't know how much water I swallowed. In my dazed state, I heard a familiar voice calling out: "Lâm, wake up! Come on, wake up!" When I came to, I saw my brother Hoàng right in front of me. His face was full of concern. I realized that he had come to my rescue.
Gradually, I became more alert. I noticed everyone around me was breathing a sigh of relief. Someone said, "Hoàng is amazing! He saved Lâm from such a distance in a miraculous way!" Others echoed, "Exactly!" "That's right!" I smiled, feeling proud, and looked at my brother, softly saying, "Thank you, Hoàng!"
Thanks to that experience, the bond between my brother and me became even stronger. Not only that, but Hoàng also started training again for the upcoming youth swimming competition. It was a small experience, but it brought so much positive change to our relationship.
Essay 2:
The fast-paced modern life often drags us into its whirlwind, causing us to neglect relationships that once seemed so important. Only when we unexpectedly reconnect with old friends, do we realize what we have lost.
That trip was a reward from my parents for a year of hard work after I successfully passed the entrance exam to a prestigious secondary school in our province with high marks.
The trip took place in mid-July, when my family decided to escape the scorching summer heat of Northern Vietnam and head to the cool, refreshing atmosphere of Đà Lạt. Before heading to Đà Lạt, we flew to Nha Trang to visit some of my father's friends. This was also my first time flying on an airplane. From the window, the fluffy, white clouds seemed closer than ever, and it felt like I could reach out and touch them, fully experiencing their beauty. In Nha Trang, we were treated to many local specialties like bánh canh, seafood, and bánh xèo. Nha Trang, though a new place for me, still felt familiar because I was born by the sea. The seafood, the white sand, and the blue ocean were all things I was accustomed to. But what I looked forward to most was the trip to Đà Lạt after spending two days there.
We rented a taxi to experience the forest roads from Nha Trang to Đà Lạt. The roads hadn’t been improved much, and they were bumpy and difficult to navigate. However, beyond these challenges, I became immersed in the vast, lush forests. As we neared Đà Lạt, the forest grew denser, and the air grew even more pleasant. I could even hear birds singing in the trees, creating a sense of peace that I had never experienced before. In today’s cities, it’s rare to hear birds because their natural homes are replaced with high-rise buildings and apartments. That’s why I love Đà Lạt. I adore the tranquil and gentle scenery there.
My family spent three days in Đà Lạt, exploring the city of love. We visited flower gardens, experienced the night market, and rode horses and bicycles around the city. Đà Lạt was so peaceful and serene. There, I got to experience what people call "a day with four seasons": spring in the morning, summer at noon, autumn in the afternoon, and a chilly winter at night. Every evening, I insisted that my parents take me to the night market because I loved the local street food, like strawberry yogurt, soybean milk, bánh canh, and grilled rice paper. But the most unforgettable experience was meeting an old friend there. Ánh, my close friend from middle school, was there too. We had spent four years together in school, sharing both happy and sad moments. We had promised each other that we would remain best friends forever.
But then, Ánh didn’t get into the school we had dreamed of attending together. As for me, when I moved to a new school and faced the pressure to maintain my academic performance, I unintentionally forgot about my old friend. It wasn’t until I unexpectedly met Ánh at the night market that I realized how much I had missed her. We stared at each other for a long time before finally greeting each other. It felt awkward, like meeting a stranger for the first time. Eventually, we asked our parents for permission to walk together. We sat down and caught up on what had happened in our lives. Ánh said something that broke my heart: "I see you’re so happy with your new friends, so I didn’t want to bother you." Oh, the word "bother"! I never thought that my thoughtlessness had hurt her so much. I felt deeply regretful. We spent a long time together, sharing our hidden feelings, and decided to reconcile. After the trip, we returned together, and since then, we’ve stayed close friends.
That trip gave me a lot. It provided moments of relaxation after a stressful year of studying. It offered new knowledge about the culture and geography of a new place. But most importantly, it helped me rediscover a beautiful friendship. I realized that nothing can break a friendship except one’s own neglect. I wish I had more time with Ánh, perhaps on another trip, to preserve this friendship. I hope everyone takes more care of the people around them so that they don’t have to regret their past indifference, as I did.

Last weekend, my family took a wonderful trip as a reward for my good academic performance at the end of the first semester. It was my first time visiting the beach.
At exactly 5 a.m., the bus departed from Hanoi. By noon, we arrived at our destination. I, along with other kids my age, was thrilled because after such a long journey, we finally arrived in Sầm Sơn. After checking into the hotel and settling our things, we went for lunch and then rested.
In the afternoon, everyone in the group went to the beach for a swim. It was magical! Standing before the vast, endless beach, the water was clear and blue. From near the shore, I could see the waves crashing onto the sand. Looking far out to the horizon, the sky and ocean seemed to merge into one. The sea breeze was refreshing, and the sound of the waves was music to my ears. Next to the beach, the towering Trường Lệ mountain range stretched along the coastline. To the south of Trường Lệ was Tiên Ẩn beach, a small valley with nearly untouched natural beauty. At the end of the beach stood the ancient and majestic Độc Cước temple on a rocky hill. Everything was as beautiful as the pictures I had seen online while researching about Sầm Sơn.
The beach was crowded with people at that time. Laughter and chatter filled the air. The adults enjoyed swimming in the water, while the children played in the sand, building impressive sandcastles. My friends and I each grabbed a float and dove into the sea. The cool ocean water made me feel incredibly refreshed. After swimming, we all gathered for a seafood feast. The dishes were delicious, bursting with the fresh flavors of the sea.
After our three-day, two-night trip, my family returned home, but I was full of happiness from the amazing experiences I had. I hope to have many more trips like this with my family in the future.

Assignment: Write an essay (about 2 pages) recounting a memorable trip you took.
Essay:
Another summer has passed. Last summer, as a reward for my academic achievements, my parents decided to take me on a vacation. After much discussion, the family agreed on Da Nang as our destination.
We had packed our bags a few days in advance, and on that morning, everyone woke up early, had breakfast, and headed to the airport for our 6:30 a.m. flight. I was filled with excitement because all my friends had told me how beautiful Da Nang is, with its stunning natural landscapes and delicious food. When we landed, we went straight to the hotel we had booked in advance, rested for a bit, and then went for a walk.
The hotel my family chose was on Nguyễn Tất Thành street, which is right next to the beach. We went down to the beach to enjoy the view and take a walk. The morning at the beach was incredibly refreshing, with cool blue water and long stretches of soft white sand. The sound of the waves whispering to the shore seemed to welcome everyone to experience the ocean's peaceful atmosphere. On the shore, people were walking, elderly folks practicing Tai Chi, and middle-aged people riding bikes in the tranquil morning air. Along the shore stood rows of tall coconut trees, their branches reaching out toward the sea. My dad told me these coconut trees not only beautify the scenery but also serve as a barrier to protect the nearby roads and offer shade in the evenings. By midday, the sun’s rays made the water shimmer in vibrant colors. The beach, the sand, all grew warmer, and the coconut trees began casting longer shadows. The waves were much stronger now, crashing against the shore as if preparing for a storm. Noon was when the sea seemed to come alive with its own energy.
We returned to the hotel for lunch. The food here was delicious, and my favorite dishes were Mi Quang (a local noodle dish) and Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese pancakes). I ate so much, I couldn't get enough. What left the biggest impression on me was Da Nang’s beauty at night. It was the most beautiful city I had ever visited. The rows of tall buildings twinkled with lights. From the coffee shops and tea houses, the sounds of golden oldies played, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. People strolled along the Han River Bridge, enjoying the romantic and fresh view of the river. The cool evening air made the walk feel invigorating. Suddenly, I saw couples and families walking hand in hand, and it made me feel so happy. That night, being a weekend, I got to watch the Dragon Bridge’s fire-breathing show, which was truly magical. I even used my grandmother’s phone to capture that moment.
Da Nang is not just beautiful; the people here are incredibly friendly and helpful. They are always willing to lend a hand without hesitation. I remember one day my dad lost his wallet, which had some cash and important documents inside. We thought it was gone for good, but thanks to a kind lottery seller who found it, she handed it over to the local authorities, and they returned it to my dad. Strangers here always greet you with warm smiles, eager to help. This kindness truly warmed my heart.
My trip to Da Nang last year was so meaningful. Although I’ve left Da Nang, I still hope to return one day. I hope that next year, my parents will plan another wonderful vacation like this one.

Essay 1
Last summer, my family and I went to visit Ha Long Bay. It had been a long time since I had such a relaxing vacation.
To prepare for the trip, I packed clothes, food, and drinks the day before. We left at 5:30 AM and arrived at the meeting point by 5:00. Although we thought we were early, many other families had already arrived. My dad held a large duffel bag, my mom carried the snacks, and my little sister and I had small backpacks with a few odds and ends. Along the drive from Hanoi to Quang Ninh, I was mesmerized by the stunning scenery. The bus wound through bridges and small rocky hills, and after an hour, we arrived at the dock to take a boat tour of the caves. The cave's tall stone arches were adorned with colorful stalactites and stalagmites. I heard the most beautiful cave was called the Headwood Cave, which is like a palace with winding corridors. Even a single drop of water falling from the stalactites would break the silence.
After spending the morning exploring the caves, we rushed back to the bus to check into our hotel. Some children ran around the garden while my little sister was being naughty, chasing her friends and getting scolded by mom. Finally, after some delay, the tour guides handed out room keys, and we went to our rooms.
In the afternoon, we took pictures in the hotel garden and went up the nearby mountain to enjoy the view. Mom insisted on taking family photos, and my little sister and I had a separate shoot. She jokingly said, "Look, I'm the best in pictures!" I replied, "Not so sure about that." The photographer laughed and said, "Both of you look great!" But of course, we ended up with funny, goofy photos. Afterward, we went to the market to buy souvenirs. Ha Long’s market is bustling, even more so than Hanoi. There were stalls with fresh fruits, fish, and clothes. I saw many parents buying clothes for their children. We also bought some seafood as souvenirs. Later, in the evening, we had dessert at a small café by the hotel, while my dad relaxed in the room reading the newspaper. As the day ended, we packed up and started our journey back to Hanoi.
Ha Long Bay is an enchanting destination, constantly attracting visitors from all over the world. Everyone who comes leaves with a sense of wonder at its natural beauty.
Essay 2:
Every two years, our school organizes a summer camp for students during the summer break. Sixth and seventh graders eagerly prepare for the event, sometimes weeks in advance. This year, I was in seventh grade, and the camp turned out to be a memorable experience.
The weather that morning was perfect! It was summer, but the sun was mild, and the breeze was refreshing. The gentle wind helped ease the sweat from the boys' brows. We gathered early at my friend Duy Anh’s house to move our class's supplies to school. The boys were excited because this had been the result of a whole week's preparation. When we arrived at school, we immediately started setting up the camp. Just as we finished setting up the camp's entrance, we were called to the opening ceremony.
The ceremony was dignified, and the camp officially began after the principal's opening speech. Afterward, the classes returned to their respective camp areas. Our class was divided into three groups: one prepared for the talent show, one finished setting up the camp, and the last group prepared food for lunch. Everyone was busy with their tasks.
About an hour later, we received great news: our class won the highest score for the talent show, and our camp was completed by the hardworking boys. The camp was designed like a house, with a garden, fish pond, and even a sports area. The girls used creative ideas from a magazine to decorate the camp, making it beautiful and colorful.
By the time lunch was ready, we gathered to enjoy a fun celebration with food, singing, and laughter. In the afternoon, we lined up and sang traditional songs to welcome the teachers who visited our camp. The most exciting moment came when the results were announced. Our class, 7A, won the third-place prize, with class 8E and 9D winning first and second respectively. Despite the competitive nature of the event, the most important takeaway for all of us was the spirit of teamwork and unity in our class.

For a long time, I had dreamed of seeing Nha Trang’s beach, one of the most famous scenic spots in Vietnam. Finally, that dream came true thanks to a summer activity organized by the local community to reward children who excelled in school, which allowed me to visit this beautiful coastal area. My trip left me with unforgettable memories of Nha Trang’s sunny and breezy beaches.
On that day, I didn’t need an alarm clock to wake up; I got up early, did my morning routine, had a light breakfast, and then prepared for the trip with my mother. At exactly 6 AM, the bus departed, and I said goodbye to my mother before heading off with my friends. After a while, I could see the Vong Phu rock from a distance. As everyone had said, the rock resembled the figure of a woman holding a child, waiting for her husband.
Along the way, we passed smooth, round mountains and boulders that looked magical. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stop to visit them. At last, we reached our destination! The beach of Nha Trang appeared in the distance, and we couldn’t help but exclaim with joy. The gentle waves lapped against the white sand, and far away, colorful fishing boats moved slowly across the water, probably because they were too far from us.
The water was crystal clear and refreshing, and I wanted to rush to the beach immediately, but I wasn’t allowed to by the trip supervisors. On the white sand, children were happily building sandcastles. The bus took us along the coast for a while, allowing us to admire the endless stretch of white sand and the pristine waters.
We bid farewell to Nha Trang’s beautiful beach and headed for the next stop, Monkey Island. This time, we had to take a small boat. As we sailed, the island slowly appeared with tall coconut trees, and a small sign with a playful monkey illustration welcomed us: “We’re happy to greet you!”
We stopped to rest under a large canopy of trees and had lunch. After eating, we visited a group of monkeys on the island—there must have been hundreds of them! They were so smart and mischievous. We had a great time playing with the monkeys, feeding them fruits, bread, and other snacks.
After a while, our tour guide took us to a circus to watch performances by smart and adorable dogs and monkeys. My friends and I especially loved the monkey performance, where one monkey played the role of a rickshaw driver while another dressed in fine clothes and held an umbrella as a passenger. Everyone cheered and clapped enthusiastically.
As the circus ended, we left the island and headed to the Oceanographic Institute. Here, I saw many types of coral, rare fish, and even had the chance to witness sharks swimming in the water. We also touched the massive whale skeleton and encountered a fish species known as the “mermaid of the sea.”
As the day began to fade, our trip was coming to an end, and we said goodbye to the enchanting city of Nha Trang to return home to our families. The city’s lights began to twinkle, with purple, green, and white lights illuminating the streets, giving the city a fresh new look.
The city at night, with its colorful lights from restaurants, hotels, and high-rise buildings, made Nha Trang even more dazzling. Eventually, we had to leave behind the beautiful sights and bid farewell to the city with a sense of regret. After traveling for a while, many of my friends fell asleep on the bus. Seeing this, the trip supervisors started fun games and sang children’s songs until the bus arrived at our starting point.
This trip was truly amazing! I promised myself that I would study hard so that, in the future, I could visit more of Vietnam’s stunning landmarks. The trip left me with wonderful memories, and I hope we will have many more such trips to explore the tourist destinations of Vietnam.
