2. Advice from Teacher Nguyen Thi Hang Nga
Teacher Nguyen Thi Hang Nga is a literature teacher and head of the teaching department at Hoai Duc B High School. She provided detailed advice on how to approach the literature exam. Specifically:
"Teacher Hang Nga reminds her students taking the National High School Exam in Literature 2018:
1- To score 8 points or more, aim for about 8 pages of writing.
2- For reading comprehension, focus on questions about the main mode of expression. If asked about a specific mode of expression, only mention one. If asked about multiple modes, provide several. It's important to distinguish between modes of expression and language styles.
3- When asked about rhetorical devices, accurately identify the device and cite a sentence that demonstrates it.
4- For the title of the text, summarize the main content in a single, concise sentence.
5- Never skip the part where you express your personal thoughts about the text.
6- For social commentary, limit your response to two-thirds of the page. Clearly identify the issue and offer an analysis—explain, analyze, refute, and evaluate.
7- For literary analysis, the part related to 11th-grade works should be 30% of the 12th-grade portion. Don’t forget to include comparisons. In the introduction, introduce the author, work, and the prompt. For the body, organize your points clearly.
8- As time runs out, immediately switch to the conclusion, even if you haven't finished the body. According to the scoring rubric, completing all three sections earns you 0.5 points.
GOOD LUCK! STAY CALM, CONFIDENT, AND SHARP WHILE YOU WORK!"

3. Poem: Advice Before the Exam by Teacher Nguyen Lan Huong
Nguyen Lan Huong is currently a teacher at Hoai Duc B High School in Hoai Duc District, Hanoi. Before the national high school exam, she wrote a poem to encourage her students, including those in her class and others who were preparing for the exam.
The poem goes as follows:
Advice Before the Exam
Author: Nguyen Lan Huong
It's almost exam time, listen carefully, my child
Don't feel stressed, stay calm, you'll be fine
Relax and don't worry at all
You've studied enough, now just save your energy for the test.
It's almost exam time, don't forget to prepare everything
Make sure you have pens, pencils, erasers, and rulers
Arrive a little early to rest before the exam starts.
After finishing the test, check everything carefully
Make sure to fill in all the answers, don't leave any blanks
For multiple-choice questions, check your answers thoroughly
To avoid losing points unnecessarily.
Be careful with your food and drinks
Don't overdo it, make sure you're strong enough
Pay attention to food hygiene
Because a stomachache during the exam would be disastrous.
Over the past three years, you've learned a lot
Now it's time to apply that knowledge in the exam
Wishing you success, like you’ve dreamed
Good luck with the exam.
