5. Xuan Huong Tofu
Xuan Huong Family-Style Tofu is a well-known brand recognized by consumers as a safe product. Mr. Xuan recalls the early days of establishing his business in 1992, starting with a modest capital in Hanoi to make traditional tofu. To prepare a batch of tofu – tofu curd to sell in the morning – Mr. and Mrs. Xuan would wake up at 2 or 3 a.m. Making tofu was hard enough, but selling it required Mrs. Huong to carry each batch of tofu to the market, about 5-6 kilometers from their home. Their tofu quickly became popular due to its quality, and customers grew steadily. Eventually, Mr. Xuan and his family relocated south to continue their business, marking the beginning of the Xuan Huong Family-Style Tofu brand, a significant milestone in their career.
The distinct taste of tofu from the North, which is unlike that of the South, attracted a growing number of customers. Many came out of curiosity, while others became addicted to the unique flavor. The business continued to thrive, even though the shop was not large, and lacked the lavish atmosphere of many other restaurants. The simple but clean and bright space contributed to the brand’s charm. Despite not engaging in heavy marketing, Mr. Xuan’s tofu attracted a crowd of loyal customers.
