1. Opening Speech for the March 8th Seminar (Version 4)
I. Introduction and Presentation of Delegates
Distinguished delegates, respected teachers, and educators!
Born in a country with an agricultural civilization, grounded in rice cultivation and handicrafts, Vietnamese women have become the backbone of the labor force. Additionally, our country has long endured foreign invasions, with a history of hardship. From these realities, Vietnamese women have developed a distinct identity: they are resilient and courageous fighters against foreign invaders, hardworking and creative workers, essential guardians of our cultural heritage, and nurturing mothers who have given rise to heroic generations.
Under feudal and imperial regimes, women were oppressed, exploited, and faced significant injustice, always yearning for liberation and ready to support revolutionary movements. Women participated in the anti-French and anti-American struggles, as well as in labor and production.
Our beloved Uncle Ho once said, "Vietnam's beautiful land and sky are made even more magnificent by the efforts of its women, both young and old." In the struggles for power, during both the anti-French and anti-American wars, and in the process of building and renovating our country, Vietnamese women have made extraordinary contributions and received praise from Uncle Ho himself with the words: "Heroic, indomitable, loyal, and capable."
Men view March 8th as an opportunity to demonstrate their gallantry towards the women they cherish. Throughout the year, women have one special day when society collectively acknowledges and celebrates their contributions. This day is a tribute to the tireless efforts of mothers, devoted wives, and women who nurture and build strong family homes.
Modern women are no longer just homemakers; they are workers who contribute to society’s development. They shoulder the responsibilities of childbirth and raising the next generation. They are becoming more successful, capable, confident, and beautiful.
Women today contribute their talents, intellect, and hard work in many areas of life and society. However, inequality, discrimination, and violence against women are still prevalent in some developing countries...
At XX school, the women continue to work hard both in their teaching careers and in building happy family lives (excelling in the classroom and at home). We are delighted to be here today to celebrate the tradition of International Women’s Day (March 8th, 1910 - March 8th, 20XX), together raising our voices in song and praise for women.
Joining today’s seminar are: (Introduction of the delegates).

As we commemorate International Women's Day on March 8th, women around the world, and especially women in Vietnam, enthusiastically celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of women. This is a time when the warmth of spring spreads through the streets and fields, and the blooming flowers of mai and dao greet the season's winds, symbolizing the renewal of life. The arrival of March 8th is a reminder of these vibrant moments, of women who are the keepers of warmth in our homes, the foundation of our families, and the nurturers of our communities. In the context of our school, March 8th is a time to honor the significant contributions of women to education and the development of future generations.
In every role, at every level, the female staff of our school embody the enduring strength of Vietnamese women, balancing work and family life with skill and dedication in this era of global integration.
In solidarity with the nationwide celebration, and with the approval of the school's administration, the XX Women’s Union will host a discussion on the occasion of the 110th Anniversary of International Women's Day (1910-2020). This is the reason for our gathering today.
It is my honor to introduce the distinguished guests joining us for this discussion: (introduction of guests)
Today, we also take a moment to reflect on the historical significance of March 8, 1910, International Women's Day. Please welcome the distinguished speaker to share insights into the meaning of this day.
We invite our speaker to take the stage.
Historical significance
Dear guests,
To all the women present!
The history of International Women’s Day began with the struggle of women workers in the textile and garment industries of Chicago and New York at the end of the 19th century. Their efforts inspired similar movements in Germany and Russia, and eventually led to the call for a global movement advocating for the rights of women. In 1910, the second International Women's Conference, held in Copenhagen, Denmark, declared March 8 as a day of solidarity and struggle for gender equality and world peace. Since then, March 8th has become a day of international unity for women worldwide, promoting the fight for women's liberation and equality.
In Vietnam, March 8th also honors the memory of the Hai Ba Trung rebellion, where the first female national heroes led a successful fight to reclaim independence from foreign invaders. This historic event is a testament to the resilience of the Vietnamese people and the immense capabilities of Vietnamese women in leadership and national defense.
Now, as part of today’s program, we invite all attendees to join in the cultural exchange and performances, and we encourage participation from all members of the discussion group.
Dear guests, over the past year, our colleagues and staff have worked tirelessly, achieving great accomplishments. In celebration of March 8th, let us take a moment to reflect on these achievements. I now invite the following individuals to join me on stage: ......................................
Closing remarks for the March 8th celebration.
Dear friends,
As we celebrate March 8th, we reflect on the enduring legacy of women's contributions to the world and to Vietnam. Throughout today's program, we have heard meaningful insights and reflections from our distinguished guests. On behalf of the labor union, I sincerely acknowledge and will incorporate these suggestions into our future actions. Our discussion today is now concluded. Once again, I extend my warmest wishes for health, happiness, and success to all of our leaders, guests, and female staff members. Thank you for your participation!

Dear delegates,
Dear female officials and staff in the union.

This is also the time when International Women's Day, March 8th, arrives in the midst of blossoming nature. At this moment, every home is warmed by the loving hands of mothers, sisters, and girlfriends... Husbands feel comforted thinking of their beloved ones. We sincerely invite comrade.
2. The historical significance of March 8th:
Dear delegates,
Dear sisters!
The history of International Women's Day on March 8th originates from the rightful struggle of female workers in the textile industry of Chicago and New York (USA) at the end of the 19th century. This struggle inspired the women's movement in Germany and Russia. This historical context laid the foundation for gathering and leading women globally to join in the collective struggle against exploitation under capitalism. In 1910, the Second International Women's Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, decided to establish March 8th as an annual celebration for women worldwide, symbolizing solidarity and the pursuit of equality, development, and peace. Since then, March 8th has become a day for women globally to unite in the fight for self-liberation and gender equality.
In Vietnam, March 8th is also a day to commemorate the Hai Ba Trung uprising, where the two heroic female leaders fought against foreign invaders to preserve national sovereignty. This historic uprising symbolizes the unyielding spirit of the Vietnamese people and the immense potential of Vietnamese women in leading the fight for national liberation and the development of the nation today.

III. Historical Significance of March 8th
The history of International Women's Day, March 8th, began with the struggle of female textile and garment workers in Chicago and New York (USA) at the end of the 19th century. Their fight strongly inspired the labor movement of female workers in Germany and Russia. This movement led to the necessity of gathering and leading women around the world to join the common struggle against capitalist oppression. In 1910, the Second International Women's Congress was convened in Copenhagen, Denmark, where it was decided to establish March 8th as a global day for women's solidarity, demonstrating their strength and striving for the goals of Equality – Development – World Peace. Since then, March 8th has become a day for women around the world to unite and fight for their liberation and gender equality.
In our country, March 8th is also a day to commemorate the Hai Ba Trung Rebellion, led by the two female national heroes who repelled foreign invaders from the north and fought for national sovereignty. This historic rebellion is a timeless page in our nation's history at the beginning of the Common Era. It not only symbolizes the indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people but also highlights the immense capabilities of Vietnamese women in leading the national liberation movement and the current nation-building efforts.
Dear esteemed guests, teachers!
Throughout Vietnamese history, women have been the resilient warriors against foreign invaders, the hardworking, intelligent, and creative laborers, the guardians of our culture, and the ones who gave birth to our heroic generations. In life, women are soldiers and artists who protect, preserve, and promote the values of our culture. Women not only inspire creativity in writers and poets but have also proven their talents and intellect in literature, no less than men.
As poet An Nguyên wrote: "Though traveling around the world, no one longs for you like your mother. Her arms stretch as you grow. She is the one who gives you a name before you speak 'mother'..." and poet Xuân Quỳnh: "Whether it be the head of state or a hero, a scientist or anyone else, we are all the children of a woman— an ordinary woman whose name and age are unknown..."
Indeed! No matter where they are or in what position, women display their strengths to assert their status, role, and hidden potential. In recent years, despite facing many challenges, the female staff at XX School have persevered to complete their tasks excellently. Especially in these days, the women of XX School, alongside Vietnamese women across the nation, are actively competing to achieve impressive results in celebration of International Women's Day, March 8th.
