Honorable delegates, teachers!
The history of Vietnam is one of fighting for independence and sovereignty, in which Vietnamese women have always played a vital role. President Ho Chi Minh once said: 'The beauty of Vietnam's mountains and rivers is shaped by our women, both young and old, who dedicate themselves to making our country shine brightly.' Vietnamese women are increasingly educated, strong, dynamic, creative, culturally rich, compassionate, and socially conscious. Through all the challenges, women have always demonstrated resilience and contributed immensely to the nation's struggle for independence and its development. Thus, every year on October 20th, the entire nation comes together to honor the women of Vietnam.
Honorable delegates, teachers!

Honorable delegates, teachers!
Only women are bestowed the title 'Excellent in both family and work duties.' No matter the circumstances, women always rise above challenges to complete their tasks. Moreover, as mothers and wives, they play indispensable roles in the family. Through poetry and songs, women are celebrated as beautiful, virtuous beings. In a poem about Vietnamese women, just eight lines encapsulate all the admirable qualities of Vietnamese girls:
'I love the Vietnamese girl,
Brave, unyielding, and extraordinarily diligent,
Loyal, beautiful, shining bright,
Balancing home and work, devoted and true.
Admire the heroic women,
Despite hardships, they remain caring.
From morning till night, through every season,
They rest only when their family is at peace.'
Today, let's recall the history of Vietnamese Women's Day (20/10) and reflect on the achievements of women over the past XX years. I now invite the presentation of comrade...

2. Historical Significance of the Vietnam Women’s Union Founding Day on October 20th:
Dear delegates,
Dear women,
Vietnamese women have always embodied noble qualities as bestowed by President Ho Chi Minh: “Heroic – Indomitable – Loyal – Capable.” In any role or position, women have demonstrated strength, skill, and resilience. History has recognized the immense contributions of Vietnamese women, from the heroic struggles of the Trưng Sisters and Triệu Thị Trinh in ancient times to the participation of countless women in our wars to protect national sovereignty. In the present day, women continue to rise, demonstrating creativity and energy in all areas of life, while also upholding their roles in family and society.
October 20th each year is celebrated as Vietnam Women’s Day, a recognition of the qualities that have earned Vietnamese women the 8-character honor: “Heroic, Indomitable, Loyal, Capable.”
Today, in the joyful atmosphere of our female comrades, let us revisit the historical importance of October 20th – the founding of the Vietnam Women’s Union.
Dear comrades, Vietnam’s history is one of struggle and resilience. Women have always played a crucial role in shaping our nation. From the early days of resistance against foreign invaders, Vietnamese women have been warriors, workers, and cultural bearers, preserving and nurturing the nation’s values. The socio-economic challenges of our country have only strengthened their determination.
Under colonial and feudal regimes, women were oppressed, exploited, and subjected to great injustices, yet they continuously advocated for their liberation and joined the revolutionary struggle. As early as the French resistance, women took part in the Cần Vương and Đông Kinh Nghĩa Thục movements, and many women were involved in the precursor organizations of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
From 1927 onwards, various organizations began to form that attracted women’s participation, such as the Red Union, the Agricultural Union, and professional training groups.
On October 20th, 1930, the Vietnam Women’s Union was officially founded, marking a historical event that deeply reflects the Party’s stance on the vital role of women in the revolution and in the national liberation struggle.
From that point, Vietnam has designated October 20th as National Women’s Day to honor the contribution of Vietnamese women to the nation’s development and liberation.
3. Advocacy:
We have just revisited the history and significance of October 20th. Now, I would like to discuss a pressing issue that requires our attention in today’s society.
As we transition into the era of industrialization and modernization, while benefiting from numerous opportunities, Vietnamese women also face the challenges posed by the market economy and the adverse effects of global integration. Thus, the preservation of traditional virtues of Vietnamese women has become increasingly difficult. Some of the traditional qualities that have long been cherished are now fading, impacting both the customs of our people and the moral integrity of women. This makes it essential in our modern society that women uphold virtues such as “Confidence – Dignity – Loyalty – Capability.”
So why did the Vietnam Women’s Union select these four virtues to promote and encourage all women to learn and practice?
Answer:
Throughout our nation’s history, the people of Vietnam have developed a set of beautiful virtues based on unity, courage, and perseverance. These qualities are essential for survival, victory, and progress. As women have taken on the role of nurturing the next generation and maintaining the home, they have contributed significantly to preserving and passing on the ethical standards of the nation. These silent contributions have shaped the values of Vietnamese women, including patriotism, heroism, and selflessness.
The pursuit of these virtues is a part of the broader strategy to build and develop the people of Vietnam in line with the spirit of the 8th Central Committee Resolution on developing a modern Vietnamese culture, rich in national identity. This is an essential task supported by the entire political system, with the Vietnam Women’s Union playing a key role in implementation.
After careful research and consultation with experts and the public, the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union decided to focus on promoting the virtues of “Confidence – Dignity – Loyalty – Capability” across all women’s unions.

6. The Opening Speech for the October 20th Seminar (Part 3)
I. Purpose and Introduction of Guests
Esteemed delegates, teachers, and faculty members!
Born in a country with a rich agricultural civilization, rooted in rice cultivation and handicrafts, Vietnamese women have become the backbone of the workforce. Moreover, our nation has often been invaded, and poverty has been widespread. From these circumstances, Vietnamese women have developed a unique identity: they are warriors who fought against foreign invaders with unwavering courage; diligent, creative, and intelligent workers; keepers of our cultural heritage; and nurturing mothers who gave birth to generations of heroes.
Under feudalism and imperial rule, women were among the most oppressed, exploited, and unjustly treated groups, leading them to strongly desire liberation and support the revolutionary cause. Women were active participants in the struggle against French and American colonial forces, as well as in productive labor.
Our beloved President Ho Chi Minh once said: “The beautiful and prosperous land of Vietnam is embroidered and beautified by both young and old Vietnamese women.” During the fight for independence, in the two wars against France and America, and in the process of building and renewing the nation, Vietnamese women have made outstanding contributions. President Ho Chi Minh awarded them the golden words: “Heroic, unyielding, loyal, capable.”
At XX School, the female staff has also worked hard to balance teaching with maintaining happy family lives (Excellence at work and at home). With the permission of ... today, the Women’s Committee has organized this seminar and cultural exchange to celebrate the XXth anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women’s Union (October 20, 1930 - October 20, 20XX).
The seminar will be attended by: (Introduction of guests).

The guests will share their thoughts, offer congratulations, and present beautiful bouquets to all the women in our school.
Esteemed delegates, dear colleagues!
Let us all believe that, with the tradition of “heroic, unyielding, loyal, capable,” Vietnamese women will continue to build upon the legacy of those who came before us, helping to strengthen the movement and live up to the dignity of a nation with a history of over 4,000 years of struggle for independence and self-defense. Let us wholeheartedly celebrate the enduring heroism of the women of Vietnam in general and our colleagues at XX School in particular.
III. Women’s Committee Report
The Women’s Committee will now report on the progress made in fulfilling its duties.
