1. A Mother's Love
A young boy invites his mother to attend his first parent-teacher meeting at elementary school.
What the boy feared most came true when his mother agreed to go. It was the first time his classmates and the homeroom teacher would meet his mother, and he felt deeply embarrassed by her appearance. Although she was a beautiful woman, she had a large scar that covered almost the entire right side of her face. The boy had never dared to ask her about the scar.
At the meeting, everyone was impressed by the mother’s gentleness and natural beauty despite the obvious scar, but the boy still felt embarrassed and hid in a corner to avoid the others.
There, he overheard his mother talking to the teacher. “How did you get that scar on your face?” the teacher asked. The mother replied, “When my child was still little, he was in his room when a fire broke out.”
Everyone was too scared to enter, as the fire had grown too intense, but I rushed in. When I reached him, a beam was falling toward him, and I quickly shielded him with my own body. I fainted, but thankfully a firefighter came in and saved both of us.” The mother touched the scar on her face. “This scar can’t be healed, but I have never regretted what I did.” Hearing this, the boy rushed out from his hiding spot and ran to his mother, tears welling in his eyes. He hugged her tightly, feeling the sacrifice she made for him. He held her hand tightly the rest of the day as if he never wanted to let go.
Meaning of the story: The mother’s sacrifice helped the boy understand the depth of her love for him. She gave up her youth and her beautiful face for him, a story that leaves us reflecting on the immense sacrifices mothers make for their children.

2. The Beggar Mother
There was a mother who loved her son dearly. Despite their poverty, she always did her best to ensure that her son could attend school.
Her job was to go from house to house asking for rice so her son could have enough to eat and money for school. She knew that if her son and the neighbors found out, he would be too embarrassed to continue his education, so she often went to distant places to collect rice. Day after day, the mother worked hard, and her son eventually entered college, all thanks to the rice she begged for, though he was unaware of her efforts.
The day he started college also marked the day his mother had grown old, burdened with the weight of numerous expenses. Back then, students lived in dormitories, and each family had to send rice for the kitchen to prepare meals for the students. Every month, the mother would bring several hundred thousand dong and a sack of rice to the dormitory. She made sure her son didn’t find out, quietly entering through the back gate to deliver the rice to the kitchen.
Upon arriving at the kitchen, the cook, seeing an elderly woman with a wrinkled face, deep-set eyes, and sun-dried skin, asked her where she was going. The woman replied, “I’m here to deliver rice for my son.” The cook opened the rice sack, surprised and somewhat displeased, and said, “Take this rice back, we don’t accept rice like this, mixed with so many different kinds.” The old woman bowed her head, pleading, “My family is very poor, please accept this rice.” Seeing her pitiful look, the cook reluctantly agreed but warned, “I won’t accept rice like this again.” The old woman thanked him quietly and left.
Another month passed, and the mother again brought the sack of mixed rice. She begged the cook to accept it, and although he was irritated, he took it. In his mind, he promised himself that he would refuse the rice next time, as cooking with it was difficult.
Another month later, the old woman came again with the same rice. This time, the cook scolded her, “I told you I wouldn’t accept this rice again. Take it back!” The old woman sat down on the ground, tears rolling down her thin face. She said, “I’m sorry, but I have no other choice. Please don’t tell the principal, and please don’t let my son know, because this rice is the result of my begging, and that’s why it looks like this.” Hearing this, the cook was speechless. He sat down beside the old woman, helped her up, and said, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t know about this. I will inform the principal, but I won’t let your son find out. Please rest assured.”

3. The Story of the Mother
In a luxurious hotel in the city, a man hosted a banquet and invited his mother to attend. This event had caused multiple arguments with his wife, who questioned why he was making such a fuss when they were not wealthy.
He explained: his mother had worked hard to raise him. After being married for 8 years, this was the first time his mother had come to visit him in the city, and he wanted her to feel reassured that his life was comfortable.
Though his wife was unwilling to change her mind, she reluctantly joined him at the hotel. During the meal, the wife kept serving their son. Although they were in the city, it was the first time the child had tasted such fine food.
The mother ate very little, her gentle eyes watching her children and smiling contentedly. The man encouraged her to eat more, but she smiled and replied, “I’m old now; a little is enough to fill me.” As he noticed the abundance of food left on the table, he felt uneasy and said, “Mom, this hotel has a rule: leftover food incurs a fine, so we can’t take any home.”
The wife gave him a side glance and said, “What is this trick? There’s so much food, and we could still send some home for our son to eat later. He’s growing and needs to eat.” Hearing this, the mother finally began to eat more, and for the first time, the man saw her eat so much.
After the mother left, the wife wanted to argue with him, but he suddenly began to cry, saying: “Since I was little, whenever there was something good to eat at home, mom never ate it herself; she always saved it for us, and only ate it later. Even after so many years, she still hasn’t changed. I’ve always wished she could enjoy something nice and eat her fill at least once. But today, if I hadn’t lied, she would’ve never eaten as much….”
Before he could finish, the wife was already in tears. She thought of her own mother and realized, wasn’t it the same with her? Now, as a mother herself, she selflessly gave all her love to her child every day, but had she forgotten the love her mother had once given her?

4. Roses for Mom
He stopped at a flower shop to send flowers to his mother by post. His mother lived about three hundred kilometers away. As he stepped out of his car, he saw a little girl standing by the sidewalk, crying. He approached and asked her why she was upset.
"I want to buy a bouquet of roses for my mom," she sobbed, "but I only have seventy-five cents, and the roses cost twenty dollars."
He smiled and said to her:
"Come here, I'll buy them for you."
He bought roses for the girl and also ordered a bouquet to send to his own mother. Afterward, he asked the girl if she needed a ride home. Her face lit up as she replied:
"Yes, please, take me to my mom’s house."
She directed him to a cemetery, where a freshly dug grave stood. She pointed to the grave and said:
"This is my mom’s house."
After that, she gently placed the roses on the grave.
Feeling deeply moved, he returned to the flower shop, canceled the previous order, and bought a beautiful bouquet of roses. That night, he drove three hundred kilometers to his mother’s house to personally deliver the flowers.
Story Meaning: Never hold back kind words of love for your mother. Don’t wait until she’s gone to regret not expressing your love.

5. The Mother
The mother ran out hurriedly, calling for her child. After nights of staying up, watching her sick child, she had just dozed off for a moment when Death came and took him away.
The God of Darkness disguised himself as an old woman in a black cloak and told her:
– The God of Death moves faster than the wind and never returns the souls he has taken.
The mother desperately begged the God for a way to chase after Death. The God of Darkness pointed the way for her.
At a crossroads, the mother didn’t know which path to take. A bush covered with snow and ice stood there. The bush said:
– I will show you the way, if you warm me up.
The mother held the bush close, trying to warm it. The thorns pricked her skin, and blood dripped onto the ground. The bush began to sprout, bloom, and flower in the middle of the cold winter. The bush showed her the way.
She reached a large lake, but there were no boats. The water was too deep, but she was determined to cross it to find her child. The lake said:
– I will help you, but you must give me your eyes. Cry until your eyes fall into the water!
The mother cried, her tears flowing freely, until her eyes fell into the lake and turned into two precious jewels. She was then guided to the cold dwelling of the God of Death.
The God of Death was surprised to see her and asked:
– How did you find your way here?
The mother replied:
– Because I am a mother. Give me back my child!
Story Meaning: A touching story about the boundless love of a mother for her child, demonstrating the great sacrifices a mother is willing to make.

6. Please Don't Make Mother Cry
"Where is my child?" the young mother asked, joyfully receiving her newborn after a difficult delivery. Her face lit up as she took the baby from the doctor's hands. However, her smile quickly faded when she saw that the baby's outer ear was not like that of other children.
Despite this, the child was able to hear and understand normally, indicating that the inner ear had developed properly. Still, the mother couldn’t help but feel sorrow over her child's imperfection, blaming herself for it. Meanwhile, the child remained oblivious to his disability and continued to live happily.
One day, the boy came home from school, ran to his mother, and burst into tears: "Mom, my classmates made fun of me. They said I was a 'freak' because I have no ears!" His words cut deep into his mother's heart. She hugged him tightly, sharing in his pain. But in that moment, the boy suddenly stopped crying. Looking at her with determination, he said, "I will show everyone that even though I have a physical disability, my spirit remains whole. Please don’t cry, Mom!"
As time passed, the boy grew up with his disability, but he remained focused on his studies, always eager to learn beyond the classroom. He showed exceptional talent in literature and music. His academic achievements were so remarkable that his teachers told his parents that if he continued to hone his skills, he would become a national treasure. His mother’s heart swelled with pride, and she began to feel more at peace with her child's imperfection. Still, deep down, she wished that he could be whole again.
One day, doctors informed them that it was possible to transplant ears, as long as someone was willing to donate. The mother and father immediately began searching for a donor. One day, the father came home with good news: "I found someone who is willing to donate their ears to our son."
The surgery was a success, and the boy received a pair of perfect, soft ears. However, he could never find out who had donated their ears. It was said that the donor wanted to remain anonymous and refused to reveal their identity.
The boy grew up and became a famous musician, his name spreading across the seas to neighboring countries. Now successful and wealthy, he often thought about the person who had donated their ears. Occasionally, when visiting his parents, he would ask his father about the donor, but his father could only shake his head in despair. His mother, as always, silently sat in a corner of the room, her gray hair falling loosely around her shoulders. It seemed that old age had come early for her, changing her demeanor.
Since the boy had received his ear transplant and begun to live independently, his mother had grown distant. She no longer conversed with him, and at times, the boy felt as though she was avoiding him. "Maybe she’s upset with me for not being around more," he thought, feeling guilty. However, the demands of his career kept him away from home, and he continued with his long tours.
One day, the boy received news that his mother was gravely ill. He caught the earliest flight home and rushed to the hospital. As he saw his mother breathing her last on the hospital bed, he bent down and embraced her, crying uncontrollably. He kissed her frail hands, which had worked tirelessly to raise him, and gently kissed her forehead, which had been lined with the wrinkles of time. He then stroked her white hair, only to realize in shock: his mother no longer had ears. In that moment, he understood why she had always kept her distance from him. He also realized that she hadn’t cut her hair in years, rarely left the house, and seldom interacted with others.
With tears in his eyes, the boy knelt beside his mother and embraced her frail body. He kissed her cheeks and forehead with all the love he had and whispered, "Mom, you gave me life and sacrificed everything for me!"
Story Meaning: A mother gives us life and spends her youth nurturing us to adulthood. Therefore, never make your mother cry.
