2. Prayer for the Full Moon of January at the Temple
When visiting the temple, if you are a Buddhist devotee, you may sit before the Buddha altar and chant a passage from the Universal Gateway (Phổ Môn) Sutra or the Medicine Buddha Sutra to pray for peace and safety for your family. If you cannot chant, you can light incense and recite the following hymn to praise the Buddha's virtues and express your sincere devotion:
'The Buddha’s body shines like golden mountains,
Pure and unmatchable in its beauty.
The supreme and noble one, his merits are boundless.
I bow to the Buddha, the King of Mountains.
The Buddha’s grace is vast as the ocean,
The precious jewel contains all within.
Infinite wisdom, boundless merits,
Great tranquility and power, all in perfect balance.
The Buddha is at the core of the true Dharma realm,
Formless and beyond all things.
All beings bow to countless forms of the Buddha,
And through this, calamities are cleared away.
Nam mô Thập phương Thường trụ Tam Bảo
Nam mô Thập phương Thường trụ Tam Bảo
Nam mô Thập phương Thường trụ Tam Bảo'
