1. The Shared Loaf of Bread
Two close friends walked to school together, and every morning they would stop by the bread cart to buy breakfast. Today was no different, as everyone saw them buying bread as usual.
"Let's get some bread," one friend asked the other. But then he noticed his friend's hesitation and realized the awkward situation. One friend bought a loaf of bread but broke it in half, giving the other half to his friend. A whole loaf isn't much, but half of it represents a deep friendship and understanding. True friends never turn away in difficult times—they share and support each other, which is a form of pure love.
Just half a loaf, yet it became the motivation, the energy, and the smile of a friend. "Sharing is easy! Even a tiny grain of salt can be split, so why not share this big loaf?" This simple phrase reminds us that as long as we aren't selfish, everything can be shared.

2. Two Friends Overcoming Struggles in Thai Binh

3. A Small Gesture
One day, Mark was heading home from school when he saw a boy his age ahead of him. The boy dropped his bag, spilling books, two sweaters, a pair of gloves, a baseball bat, and a tape recorder on the ground.
Mark helped him gather the scattered items. Since they were going the same way, Mark carried some of his belongings. As they walked and chatted, Mark learned that the boy's name was Bill, who was fond of video games but struggling with school and recently broke up with his girlfriend.
Their path led to Bill's house first, and he invited Mark in for a drink and to watch some TV shows. That afternoon passed by pleasantly, filled with laughter and meaningful conversation.
Afterward, Mark returned home, and they continued to meet regularly, either at school or during lunch breaks. They both graduated from middle school, went to the same high school, and kept their friendship strong over the years.
When high school was nearing its end, about three weeks before graduation, Bill told Mark he had something to confess. Bill reminded him of the day they first met on that walk home from school years ago.
"Have you ever wondered why I was carrying so much stuff that day?" Bill asked, then answered himself: "That day I was cleaning out my locker because I didn’t want to leave a mess for the next person. I had stolen some sleeping pills from my mom, and I was on my way home to end my life."
"But after meeting you and spending time talking and laughing, I realized that if I had taken my life, I would have never experienced moments like those with you. I would have missed out on so much. Mark, when you helped me pick up my stuff that day, you did far more than just help me with my books. You saved my life."

4. A Heartwarming Breakfast
The alley across from a university is always bustling in the morning. In this alley, street vendors offer a variety of breakfast options: broken rice, noodles, pho, sticky rice, and bread... People choose what to eat based on their job, preferences, and budget. I often see two students, probably roommates, walking to the alley to buy bread. They attend the university just across the street. Dressed in uniforms, one carries a bag while the other holds a loaf of bread. They cross the busy street, disappearing into the crowd of commuters.
"Breakfast is the meal of kings..." The television always reminds us that breakfast is essential for energy throughout the day, whether for work, study, or chores. I tend to wake up late, rushing through breakfast just to avoid feeling sluggish by midday. It's become a habit, a necessity, or simply a routine because I feared getting scolded for skipping breakfast.
One morning, I woke up early and leisurely made my way to the end of the alley to buy bread. The city was still cool and peaceful, with the sun gently warming the leaves as if caressing the earth.
Again, I saw the two students coming out of the alley. They stopped by the bread stand, but one of them seemed a bit embarrassed: "You buy it. I’m not eating today." The other one was surprised: "Why?" Then, as if suddenly remembering, the first one said, "Ah..." Upon realizing his friend hadn’t gotten bread, he swiftly tore his loaf in half and handed the other half to his friend: "Let’s share! Even a tiny grain of salt can be divided, so why not this big loaf of bread?" He winked and smiled innocently.
Both, still in their uniforms with bags in hand, walked side by side, each holding half a loaf of bread. I watched them with a bittersweet feeling. Had the first student bought another loaf instead of sharing his, I might not have been as moved. But the warmth in their eyes and the smile they exchanged sent a message far beyond words. It made me realize that sometimes, breakfast isn't just about filling the stomach—it's about warmth in the heart.
One breakfast: some eat to fill their stomachs, others to warm their hearts.

5. Carrying a Friend to School
Nguyễn Tất Minh and Ngô Minh Hiếu share a beautiful friendship. Both students from Triệu Sơn 5 High School in Triệu Sơn District, Thanh Hóa, have touched our hearts with their genuine smiles, true friendship, and the resilience and deep thought of two young souls who know what they want.
Minh is a boy with extraordinary thoughts and determination because only he can decide what his future will look like. Since birth, Minh has faced many challenges compared to his peers, as he was born without functional legs and with a right arm that doesn't work like everyone else. He once cried and felt that life was unfair, but soon realized that, no matter his condition, he still deserved the same opportunities as others. He dreamed of going to school and one day becoming an exceptional programmer. His journey would be more difficult, but he took each step carefully. While his friends wrote with their right hands, he struggled to write with his left. Yet, he constantly motivated himself, drawing strength from his dream and the people who loved him.
Minh is fortunate to have found hope for his future and to have the mindset and determination that brought him into the world of beautiful, innocent friendship. Hiếu, his friend, brought light and energy to Minh’s life as he carried him to school year after year. They shared stories of their dreams, books, and their lives as young students walking to school together. Carrying his friend to school, Hiếu became Minh’s legs, a kind-hearted boy who knew how to make a meaningful impact on his friend’s life and on the community around him.
Life is full of challenges, but when we love one another, we can receive far greater rewards. True friendship endures through hardships, and Minh and Hiếu are each other’s world. Though outsiders might see a disparity in their relationship—one carrying the other—they love each other without any ulterior motives.

6. Sand and Stone
The story of two best friends who journey together to new lands. Along the way, they encounter issues that lead to arguments and even moments of physical conflict. At one point, when one friend slaps the other, the hurt friend chooses to stay silent and writes in the sand: "TODAY, MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE." Later, the two friends travel to an island where one falls and is rescued by the other. Grateful, the saved friend carves into a stone: "TODAY, MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE." The other friend asks, "Why did you write the slap in the sand but carve the rescue in the stone?"
His friend smiles and answers, "When we feel angry, we should write it in the sand, so the wind can carry it away, sweeping away the hurt and frustration. But when someone does us a kindness, we should carve it into stone to always remember their generosity and love."

7. A Small Act of Kindness Can Have a Huge Impact
Two close friends, Bill and Mark, graduated together after many years of studying side by side. On their graduation day, they reminisced about the first time they met. On that day, Mark had helped Bill by picking up all the items that had fallen from his bag while walking home. Those very things were the ones Bill had been preparing to clear away, as he believed that they symbolized the end of his journey. But fortunately, Bill met Mark that day, and Mark's kindness and playful spirit helped Bill overcome the negative thoughts he had been struggling with.
On their graduation day, Bill shared, 'That day, you picked up my books, my cane, and other things that seemed so small to you. But those little acts, done so casually, helped me realize how much I regretted the laughter we shared back then. You saved the Bill that stands here today.'
