April 30, 1975, became a defining moment in our nation's history, ushering in a new era of independence and socialism for Vietnam. From that day forward, our Party, people, and military focused on rebuilding the country, healing the scars of war, and safeguarding the socialist nation of Vietnam.
The victory on April 30, 1975, stands as a monumental achievement in the liberation struggle, led by our Party and President Ho Chi Minh. It marks a glorious chapter in the long history of our nation’s formation and defense. The courage of our military and citizens defeated the most powerful and ruthless enemies, ending a 30-year war for independence, unification, and freedom. It also put an end to over a century of colonial domination by both old and new imperialist powers. This victory is a shining symbol of the revolutionary forces worldwide, helping to accelerate the global fight for national independence, peace, democracy, and social progress.
Today, as our country undergoes renovation, we remain forever grateful for the immense sacrifices made by our heroes and ancestors who fought for independence and the unity of our nation. Every Vietnamese citizen pledges to continue fostering the revolutionary spirit, self-reliance, national solidarity, and determination to fulfill the goals outlined in the XII Party Congress's action plan, contributing to the country's development in economy, culture, society, security, and defense.
In celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the South's Liberation and National Unification, and the 134th International Workers' Day on May 1st, it is a time to reflect on the struggles of the working class and people in protecting and building the nation. This occasion also serves to reaffirm the importance of workers' contributions and to continue enhancing the role of the working class in the pursuit of socialist construction, as outlined in the XII Party Congress's resolution: improving education and training, developing workers in both quantity and quality, and ensuring decent work, higher wages, and better living conditions for the labor force.
This is also a time to commemorate the historic victories of our people, including the 134th anniversary of International Workers' Day, and the ongoing celebration of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
