Making decisions in life, especially the ones about what to think and what to do, is something that always occupies people's minds. Life is unpredictable, and we are often faced with unexpected challenges. Therefore, it is essential for individuals to choose the right attitude in thinking and doing to lead a meaningful life. People may blame external factors for their circumstances, but how often do they stop to reflect on themselves? People often complain about adversity and harsh living conditions, but have they truly chosen the right attitude, perspective, and approach to life? Making the right choice is crucial for guiding future thoughts and actions.
Choosing what to think is the first step, as thoughts have a significant impact on actions. Two people can face the same challenge, but the way they approach it makes all the difference. The strong and determined will look at the situation with optimism and take action to overcome it, while others may fall into negative thinking. The decisions we make in thinking and doing ultimately shape our destiny and the direction of our lives.

In life, we are always faced with choices and decisions. I too had a meaningful choice that I will remember for the rest of my life: the decision to join the national team for Literature.
In class, I was one of the top students with a love for Literature, which helped me qualify for the national team selection after the exam. However, at that moment, I faced two choices: one was to continue studying in class to prepare for university exams, and the other was to join the national team. I would have to make up for missed lessons during the intensive training, meaning I would have to study twice as hard as my peers, and the pressure to succeed in the competition was immense.
I thought about it a lot, asked my friends and parents for advice. My friends told me to listen to my heart. My heart, full of love for Literature, urged me to join the national team. The three months of training became the most beautiful time of my school life. Thanks to joining the national team, I gained a deeper understanding of literary theory, learned how to write argumentative essays that express my personal viewpoints, became more aware of social issues, and developed a keen sensitivity to details in literary works.
In the end, the competition results didn’t meet my expectations, and I had to catch up with the class lessons afterward. That, too, was another pressure I had to endure. But even now, I still feel joyful and grateful for those hard-working months. The choice to join the team provided me with the knowledge and skills I had always desired. It also taught me how to sharpen myself under pressure and overcome challenges like a miracle. As the saying goes, 'Fire tests gold, and adversity tests strength.' I don’t claim to be rare gold, but I know I have been forged through the intense moments of my school years.
Steve Jobs once said, 'Stay hungry, stay foolish.' Those high school years were truly encapsulated in that quote. I was hungry for knowledge, I was foolish in following my heart, ignoring my fears. I consider myself lucky to have listened to my heart, and that remains the most meaningful decision I’ve ever made. To conclude, I hope that when faced with choices, you will make the meaningful choice for yourself.

In life, we are constantly faced with choices, with paths that lead us to different directions. These decisions may come from deep within our thoughts or be ones we didn’t expect to make. At times, it feels like we’re invisible during the decision-making process. Everyone must make choices that shape their future, but sometimes these choices don’t necessarily determine our destiny. Life may lead us down different roads. I, too, have experienced moments of uncertainty, hesitation, and meaningful choices, one of which was my decision to specialize in learning English.
Everyone has their own interests—something they are passionate about or excel in. For me, it was foreign languages, especially English. Back in middle school, I found learning languages fascinating. It opened doors to new worlds, not only teaching me a new language but also exposing me to different cultures. Like many others, I enjoyed watching foreign films and listening to US-UK music, which further fueled my interest in foreign languages, particularly English.
Some of you might find learning English challenging, and many parents might not see the value in learning a foreign language. However, my parents were very supportive of my decision to study languages. Like many families, my father had some experience with the Russian language, so he understood the importance of foreign languages and encouraged me to pursue them. Initially, I was torn between focusing on languages or specializing in literature in high school because I felt more comfortable with literature. During a family meeting about my application for the entrance exam to a specialized school, my parents asked me which subject I wanted to specialize in and which school I wanted to apply to.
The entrance exam for the provincial specialized school wasn’t something I was passionate about, but I saw it as my parents’ hope and fate’s plan. Nevertheless, I was still grateful for the experience it gave me to prepare for the official entrance exam to my local school. The decision to study languages wasn’t finalized until right before the high school entrance exam when I truly decided to focus on language studies. When faced with a choice, we often hesitate, and to make a confident decision, I thought long and hard. I listened to US-UK music, read short stories in English, and my passion for languages grew. That’s when I made the decision to specialize in languages, starting with English, and I hope to learn other languages in the future, like Chinese or Japanese.
Choosing to specialize in a subject is one of the most difficult decisions I’ve made. This choice not only opened the door to my future but also marked a significant milestone in my personal growth. It was a decision that taught me responsibility and self-determination. It is, without a doubt, the most meaningful choice I’ve ever made in my life. Learning new languages might lead to a brighter future ahead.

I, a girl just entering high school, faced numerous challenges and decisions regarding whether to attend a public school, private school, a top-tier institution, or a more average one.
The reason for my constant confusion was my academic performance, which was average, while my personal expectations were much higher. I created hypothetical scenarios for myself, such as: if I were to be accepted into the top public school, I would have the opportunity to study in the best possible environment (compared to the region), the shortest commute, the safest transportation, and most importantly, I would be proud of that achievement. However, I also had a backup plan if I didn’t meet the criteria for the public school — that would be attending a private school.
For me, there is nothing shameful about attending a private school, but the tuition fees were a real concern for my family, who came from a traditional farming background. When the time came to choose my school preferences, I understood more clearly than ever that I had to choose my own path and take responsibility for it. I courageously chose the top two schools in the region to apply for. This wasn’t arrogance, nor was it because I didn’t recognize my abilities. It was because I wanted to push myself and truly believed in my potential. Moreover, I always had support and encouragement from my family. My parents never said, "You must be excellent, you must pass," instead, they said, "Just try your best, you can do it." That was a huge source of motivation for me. At that moment, I understood how valuable effort and belief were. I was once very pessimistic, but I threw myself into studying, persevering and working hard, determined to succeed. Eventually, the results came, and I was accepted into the top school in the region. When I received the results, my entire family cried with joy, not just because of the achievement but because I had truly tried my best and succeeded. The pride in my parents' eyes made me realize that this was the first time I had done something truly worth being proud of.
Before the results came, I had imagined that if I didn’t pass, I wouldn’t regret it, because at least I had dared to try, to believe in myself, and there would be nothing to be sad about. But perhaps it was this courage that helped me step through the door of a dream that had been there for a long time.
Now, after studying in that environment, I truly understand the value of the courage I had in middle school. It helped me enter a fantastic learning environment, and I believe that with this strong foundation, I will have the tools I need to succeed in the upcoming university entrance exams.
Life is not scary; there is nothing that can’t be trusted, and nothing that can’t be tried. Believe in yourself!

Phan Văn Trường once wrote: "Each of our lives can be compared to a road with thousands of twists and turns, and at every turn, we must make choices." In life, we are always faced with choices. I too had one that turned out to be the most meaningful: joining the Provincial Literature Olympiad team in 9th grade.
Since I was young, I’ve always loved reading. I found immense joy in discovering literary works. Thanks to this, I developed a strong appreciation for literature, and my writing style was praised by my teachers. My good academic results led to me being selected by my teacher for the Provincial Literature Olympiad team. At that time, I was preparing for exams in three subjects: Math, Literature, and English, to enter high school. So, when my teacher announced the selection, I hesitated. I found myself torn between two options: One was to continue studying in class and prepare for exams like everyone else, while the other was to join the Provincial Literature Olympiad team. If I chose the second option, I would have to focus entirely on Literature, with the added pressure of exams.
I received advice from family, teachers, and friends. After a week of thinking, I decided to join the Olympiad training. That period was truly stressful for me, but through the experience, I gained valuable new knowledge. I enhanced my understanding of literary theory, learned how to write more creative and engaging essays. After three months of preparation, I participated in the competition and received an honorable mention. Although the award was not what I had hoped for, I was very happy. Looking back now, I still feel that my decision was the right one. Joining the team taught me what it means to handle pressure and how to overcome it. It also pushed me out of my comfort zone, helping me grow and improve.
In life, we all face countless choices. No matter which path we choose, we must keep moving forward. Success will come to those who are persistent and determined. And one thing is certain: happiness and good fortune lie in our attitude as we strive for glory.

In life, we are always faced with choices that come with uncertainty, worry, and sometimes regret. We don't always know what the right path is, or where it will lead us. But no matter what we choose, we must trust ourselves. As for me, being someone who lacks self-confidence, I often find myself torn between many options. I still remember the day I filled out my college application, unsure of what to choose.
Perhaps it's not just me, every student faces this kind of pressure. Holding that college application form in hand, you are likely feeling anxious, worried, and uncertain. Each word you write can greatly affect your future. When choosing a university program, we are torn between our abilities, personal desires, family expectations, and societal demands. It's not always easy to harmonize all of these factors into a single choice. So, how do you prioritize these things? For me, I feel confident in subjects like Math, Literature, and English, but Literature is my strongest suit. That's why I chose careers such as teaching, editing, journalism, and research. Despite that, I still don't have a clear idea of what my future job will look like. I want to be a teacher, but I'm afraid I won't meet society's needs. I want to be a journalist, but I'm unsure if I am fit for it. I even considered a career in research, but I'm afraid I'm not capable enough. Faced with these difficult decisions, I sought advice from many people, including teachers, family, and friends. They all offered different insights. My teachers suggested I pursue teaching, my parents encouraged careers in economics or teaching for stability, and my friends recommended journalism for the variety and life experience it offers. Ultimately, the decision was mine to make. My parents respected my choice, believing that true happiness comes from doing what I love.
After considering everyone's advice, I took some time to think about what I truly wanted and whether I was capable of doing it. I realized that teaching, particularly in the field of literature, is the best fit for me. However, I also recognized that I need to develop more skills to be an effective teacher. Moreover, although the entrance scores for Hanoi University of Education are high, the chances of securing a stable job afterward are low, which worried me. Would I regret this decision?
One day, while feeling lost amidst so many choices, I accidentally watched a short video titled 'Work for a better tomorrow: Living to sow love.' It had a powerful message that inspired me. This short clip helped me realize that teaching is a noble profession, one that not only helps me develop my skills but also allows me to pass on knowledge to others. Teachers not only sow knowledge but also love. I decided I wanted to become such a teacher.
Ultimately, I chose to apply for the Hanoi University of Education, majoring in Literature, hoping to inspire future generations as a teacher. It’s a great joy to write this, knowing my dream has become a reality. I hope that my future students will also make the right choices in their lives. To all of you, I would say: when facing important decisions, think carefully and prioritize these questions: What do you want to do? Are you capable of doing it? Is the work meaningful to you, your family, and society? No matter which path you take, remember that success will always walk with you on every step you take.

Life, in general, is rich and complex, and each person's journey is anything but simple. Numerous factors shape our lives, with the most significant being the choices we make at various points in our lives.
'My life could have been different,' or 'Things could have been different,' are familiar expressions of regret. These words reflect the many possible paths that were once available to us. Except for the choice of our parents and place of birth, which are beyond our control, most of our other decisions—especially those in adulthood—are our responsibility. Even when we delegate our decision-making to others, like letting our parents choose our school or career, we cannot escape the consequences of those choices. If we find ourselves in a dead-end situation, we must understand that we are ultimately responsible. While others may assist us in making choices, the final decision lies with us. The choices we make direct our lives down different paths. Some choices are right, some are not fully accurate, and others may be entirely wrong. Whether right or wrong is relative, but the consequences are undeniable, and we must face them. Life, however, always offers new opportunities to correct past mistakes and move toward a better outcome. The critical question is whether we are ready to seize those opportunities or will continue to miss them. If we view life as an ongoing series of choices, we must adopt an active mindset. This is why we say that our lives and futures are 'in our own hands.' Being able to accept timely, wise advice from others is also a smart choice. Only by living with a proactive attitude can we truly be confident in our decisions. A passive approach, which seems to avoid troublesome decisions, often ends up trapping us instead.
In life, alongside our individual choices, there are also societal choices. Society, in fact, is merely a collective of individuals interacting with one another. The choices we make for ourselves also contribute to the direction in which society moves. Being mindful of the impact of our choices on society is something we all need to be conscious of.

Life, by its very nature, is unpredictable, and people constantly face challenges and obstacles in ways that are often unexpected. Therefore, individuals have the right to choose a positive mindset that guides their thoughts and actions, allowing them to lead a meaningful life.
People often find time to blame external factors for their problems, but do they take the time to reflect on themselves? They may blame hardship or the harshness of life, but have they examined whether they have chosen the right attitude, approach, and perspective for themselves?
The choice must be made with precision, as it serves as a guiding compass for future thoughts and actions. Choosing the right mindset is the first step, as thoughts strongly influence actions. Two people can face the same situation, but the key difference lies in how they approach it. One person, strong and determined, will adopt a positive outlook and take action to overcome the challenge, while another might succumb to negative thinking. The choices we make in both thinking and doing will shape our destiny and guide our lives in different directions.
