1. Reenacting as Lê Lợi
I am Lê Lợi, the leader of the Lam Sơn army. My heart aches as I recall the suffering, loss, and sacrifices endured by the people when the Minh invaders came to our land. Witnessing this, I was filled with sorrow.
I gathered brave warriors, skilled in both mind and strength, to lead the resistance against the invaders. Many valiant men from all corners of the country volunteered to join the army, eager to fight for the nation's cause. In the early days of the resistance, our forces faced continuous defeat due to our small numbers, lack of experience, and a significant gap in strength, equipment, and weapons compared to the enemy's.
I worried deeply about the country's fate and tirelessly searched for ways to defeat the enemy swiftly, minimizing casualties. One day, a strong and patriotic warrior named Lê Thận came to join the Lam Sơn army. He shared with me a story about a mysterious sword he had caught three times while fishing. He believed it was a heavenly gift. Intrigued by this, I asked Lê Thận to show me the sword.
When we reached the place where Lê Thận had found the sword, I raised it, and it suddenly glowed brightly, revealing the inscription 'Thuận Thiên' on its blade. Realizing it was a divine gift, Lê Thận and I decided to use the sword in our battle against the enemy. One day, as I walked through a forest, I discovered a sword hilt hanging from a tree. Remembering the sword back home, I took it down, and remarkably, the sword and hilt fit perfectly together. I used this sword to defeat the enemy, and soon, the Lam Sơn army had driven the Minh invaders from our land.
With peace restored, the people crowned me king. While strolling by the Tả Vọng Lake, a giant Golden Turtle emerged from the water and spoke, 'Your Majesty, return the sword to the Dragon King.' At that moment, the sword at my side began to tremble. I removed the sword and held it high, and the turtle immediately opened its mouth, snatched the sword, and dove back into the water. I understood then that the Dragon King had lent me the sword to help defeat the invaders. From that day, I renamed Tả Vọng Lake to Hoan Kiem Lake, meaning 'Lake of the Returned Sword.'

2. Reenacting as Lê Lợi
I was born in a fishing village, spending my days casting nets to catch shrimp and fish for sustenance. One night, I cast my net on a quiet shore, feeling the weight of a large catch. I was sure it would be a big haul of fish. However, when I pulled it in, it was just a piece of metal. Annoyed, I threw the metal aside and cast the net again. The second time, the weight felt the same, and I thought, 'This time it must be a big catch.' But once again, it was just the metal. Frustrated, I threw it away. When I cast the net a third time, the same weight appeared. This couldn’t be a coincidence. Upon closer inspection, I realized it wasn’t metal, but a sword blade. I believed this was a divine sign, as it couldn’t be a random occurrence that this object kept appearing in my net.
At that time, the Minh invaders were attacking our land, slaughtering and pillaging without mercy. Lê Lợi, the leader of the Lam Sơn resistance, had made several attempts to drive the invaders out but had failed. Filled with rage over the invaders’ crimes, I decided to join Lê Lợi’s army to help him succeed. I told him about the sword I had found, and he was curious to see it. When Lê Lợi took the sword, it began to glow, revealing the words 'Thuận Thiên' inscribed on it.
One day, as we passed through a forest, Lê Lợi noticed a strange light shining from the top of a tree. Upon closer examination, we discovered it was the hilt of a sword. Remembering the sword blade I had found, Lê Lợi took it, and to our astonishment, the blade fit perfectly into the hilt. Realizing this was a divine weapon to help defeat the Minh invaders, Lê Lợi treasured it, and together we gathered the people for a great battle. With the sword’s power, our forces defeated the invaders completely.
When peace was restored, Lê Lợi was crowned king. Later, I accompanied him on a boat ride around Tả Vọng Lake, where a golden turtle emerged from the water. The turtle approached the boat and said, 'Return the sword to the Dragon King.' At that moment, Lê Lợi and I understood that the sword had been a gift from the Dragon King to help us defeat the invaders.
Lê Lợi raised the sword, and the turtle grabbed it with its mouth before diving back into the water. From that day on, the lake became known as Hoan Kiem Lake, meaning 'Lake of the Returned Sword.'

3. Reenacting as Lê Thuận
I was born and raised in a coastal fishing village in Thanh Hoa. Every day, I would cast my nets to catch fish for survival. One night, like usual, I cast my net on a secluded shore. When I pulled it up, it felt heavy, and I thought I had a big catch. But to my surprise, I found only a piece of metal. Annoyed, I threw it back into the water and cast my net again.
The second time, the weight felt the same, and once again, I pulled up the same piece of metal. I threw it away in frustration. On the third attempt, the metal appeared once again. This struck me as strange, as though by some miracle, the metal was drawn to my net. I decided to bring it closer to the firelight and exclaimed, 'A sword!'
After a long pause, I realized that this was a sign from heaven. At that time, the Minh invaders were brutal, treating our people like cattle and committing countless atrocities. The Lam Sơn resistance led by Lê Lợi had been fighting back but had not succeeded due to their limited strength. I had heard of how Lê Lợi and his troops had once been trapped by the enemy in Chí Linh and were forced to eat their horses to survive. This filled me with intense hatred for the invaders, and I made the decision to join Lê Lợi’s army to help drive them out and save our country. After a short period of training, my martial skills impressed Lê Lợi and the others. One day, I shared the story of the sword with Lê Lợi. He visited my humble home with a few companions, and when he touched the sword, it suddenly glowed, revealing the inscription 'Thuận Thiên'. Yet, none of us understood the sword’s true significance at the time.
One day, while retreating from the enemy, Lê Lợi and his generals took different paths. Lê Lợi later told me that while passing through a forest, he saw a strange light shining from the top of a tree. Upon climbing the tree, he found a jeweled sword hilt. Remembering the sword blade at my house, he took the hilt and brought it back.
When they fit the sword and hilt together, it was a perfect match. I raised the sword and said to Lê Lợi, 'This is heaven’s gift for you to do great things. We vow to follow you and fight for our country with this divine sword.'
From that moment, the morale of the resistance surged. Under Lê Lợi’s leadership, the sword became a symbol of strength, and our army struck fear into the Minh invaders. The power of the sword helped us defeat the invaders and reclaim our land. No longer did we hide or struggle to survive. We even seized the enemy’s food stores to sustain our troops. The sword paved the way for our victory, and eventually, the last of the invaders were driven from our country.
When peace was restored, the people joyously crowned Lê Lợi as king. After his coronation, he appointed me as a high-ranking official in charge of the army. A year later, Lê Lợi invited me to accompany him on a boat ride around Tả Vọng Lake. As the boat reached the center of the lake, a large golden turtle surfaced. At the king’s command, the boat slowed. Standing at the side of the boat, the king saw the divine sword move. The golden turtle, undeterred by the presence of people, approached the boat and spoke: 'Your Majesty, return the sword to the Dragon King.' That was when I realized that the sword had been loaned to us by the Dragon King to help defeat the invaders.
After hearing the turtle’s words, the king raised the sword towards it. In an instant, the turtle snapped the sword from the king’s hand and dove deep into the water. The sword and the turtle disappeared beneath the surface, but I could still see something glimmering in the water. From then on, the lake was called Hoan Kiem Lake, or the Lake of the Returned Sword.

4. Reenacting as the Golden Turtle
I am the Golden Turtle, a servant of the Dragon King. One day, while I was busy recording documents in my study, I received urgent news that the Dragon King wished to see me. I immediately obeyed the summons and made my way to his palace. As soon as I arrived, I heard the booming voice of the Dragon King:
'Tomorrow, when Lê Lợi sails his royal boat on Tả Vọng Lake, you are to surface and demand the return of the sacred sword for me.'
After receiving my orders, I returned to my study to prepare for the next day. I recalled the hardships the people of our land had suffered under the brutal rule of the Minh invaders. These foreign oppressors treated the citizens with cruelty, causing widespread hatred throughout the kingdom. At the same time, a resistance army had risen in Lam Sơn to oppose the invaders, but their early efforts had been thwarted. In an effort to fulfill the promise made to Âu Cơ, the mother of our people, the Dragon King decided to lend the sacred sword to the rebels to help them reclaim their homeland. It was I who delivered the sword to Lê Lợi.
Through my careful observations, I learned of a kind and humble fisherman named Lệ Thận from Thanh Hoá, who would later join the Lam Sơn army. I chose him as the messenger to deliver the sacred sword. One evening, under the moonlight with a refreshing breeze, Lệ Thận cast his net into the river. I had been waiting, and secretly placed the sword in his net. When he hauled the net back, he was thrilled to feel its weight, thinking it was a large fish. However, when he reached in, he found not a fish, but the sacred sword in the form of a metal blade. He cast it aside and continued fishing. It took three attempts before he finally realized it was the sacred sword and agreed to take it back with him.
Sure enough, Lệ Thận later joined the Lam Sơn army, proving to be brave and fearless. One day, Lê Lợi and a few of his companions visited Lệ Thận’s home. When the sacred sword came into the presence of Lê Lợi, it miraculously began to glow in the dark hut. Surprised, Lê Lợi examined the sword and discovered the inscription 'Thuận Thiên.' However, no one understood its true significance at that time.
It wasn’t until one day, while retreating from the enemy, that Lê Lợi and his generals scattered in different directions. While passing through a forest, Lê Lợi saw a strange light atop an old banyan tree. Upon climbing the tree, he discovered a jeweled sword hilt. He remembered the sword blade at Lệ Thận’s house and took the hilt back with him.
Three days later, when Lê Lợi returned to Lệ Thận’s home, he shared the story of finding the sword hilt and, when they fit the blade into the hilt, they matched perfectly.
Lê Thận then raised the sword to his head and said respectfully:
'This is heaven’s will, entrusted to our great leader to accomplish great deeds. We vow to follow Lê Lợi and fight with this divine sword to protect our nation.'
With my mission now complete, the sacred sword was in its rightful place. A year had passed since the sword had been placed into the hands of the rebels. Since then, the morale of the army had surged, and they had won countless victories, causing the Minh forces to flee in terror. Lê Lợi had risen to become king, taking the title of Lê Thái Tổ. As I reflected on the past year, I did not realize the sun had already risen. I hurriedly set out to carry out the Dragon King’s command. There it was! The royal boat appeared before me. I slowly surfaced and swam towards the front of the boat, speaking in a slow, deliberate voice: 'Your Majesty, return the sword to the Dragon King.'
After hearing my words, Lê Lợi raised the sword and replied: 'Please convey to the Dragon King our deepest gratitude for lending the sacred sword to help our people. In his honor, we shall rename this lake Hoàn Kiếm, or the Lake of the Returned Sword, so that future generations may remember his great deeds.' Upon hearing this, I took the sword in my mouth and dove back into the water.
Back in the Dragon Palace, I reported to the Dragon King everything Lê Lợi had said. He was pleased and satisfied. He entrusted me with the task of rising to the surface once a year to check on the well-being of the people and to alert him if our descendants are in danger. I was greatly honored to take on this important responsibility.

5. Reenacting as the Golden Turtle
I am the sacred Golden Turtle, a protector of the Vietnamese people for thousands of years. Six centuries ago, I aided Lê Lợi in defeating the Minh invaders and saved our nation from devastation with the help of a sword inscribed with the words 'Thuận Thiên.' I was sent by the Dragon King to assist the wise leader and the story of the sacred sword became a legendary tale that has lasted for generations.
At that time, I resided in a great lake that had been my home for over a thousand years. As usual, I visited the shores near Ngọc Sơn every few months to observe the lives of the Vietnamese people. Through all the historical upheavals and challenges they faced, I knew their plight as if it were my own. During one visit, I heard the people of Thăng Long lamenting the suffering caused by the Minh invasion, and I immediately brought their tale to the Dragon King, pleading for divine intervention to save the people and the country. This was how the story of the sacred sword and Hoàn Kiếm Lake began.
At that time, in the treacherous mountains of Lam Sơn, a rebel army had risen up against the invaders. However, their early efforts were met with hardship, as they lacked provisions and weapons. The Dragon King, hearing the people’s cries, decided to lend the sacred sword to the rebels to help them defeat the cruel invaders.
On a moonlit night by a quiet riverbank, the Dragon King instructed me to place the sword in the fishing net of Lệ Thận, a strong and noble young man who was kind-hearted and loved his country. When Lệ Thận pulled the net in, he was thrilled by the weight, thinking he had caught a large fish. But when he reached into the net, he found only a worthless metal blade. He cast it aside and continued fishing. I had placed the sword in his net. On the third attempt, as he hauled in the net once more, Lệ Thận noticed a glimmer from a distance. To his delight, it was the sacred sword.
Lệ Thận eventually joined the Lam Sơn rebellion. He proved to be a brave and courageous warrior, never afraid of danger. One day, Lê Lợi, the leader of the rebellion, visited Lệ Thận’s home. When the sacred sword came into the presence of Lê Lợi, it began to glow brightly in the darkness. Lê Lợi examined the sword and saw the inscription 'Thuận Thiên.'
At first, no one understood the significance of the sword, and the matter was soon forgotten. However, one day, while traveling through a forest, Lê Lợi saw a bright light shining from the top of a tree. Upon climbing the tree, he discovered a beautiful jeweled sword hilt. He immediately recalled the sword blade at Lệ Thận’s house and brought the hilt back with him. Three days later, when Lê Lợi reunited with Lệ Thận, they placed the sword blade into the hilt, and it fit perfectly. It was clear that the sword had found its rightful owner—Lê Lợi, a wise and capable leader who would guide the people in their fight against the invaders.
With that, my task was complete, and the sacred sword had found its place in the hands of the right leader.
One year passed, and with the power of the sacred sword, the Lam Sơn rebels, led by Lê Lợi, gained strength and continued to win victory after victory. The Minh forces were terrified, and the morale of the rebels grew stronger. With the sacred sword in their possession, the army became invincible, and soon the land was free from the invaders. Lê Lợi ascended to the throne and became King Lê Thái Tổ.
After the war was won and the nation was free, I hurried to fulfill my duty. When I saw the royal dragon boat approaching, I surfaced from the water and swam to meet the boat’s bow. I spoke slowly: 'The task is complete. Please return the sword to the Dragon King.'
Upon hearing my words, Lê Lợi raised the sword and said, 'Please tell the Dragon King that Lê Lợi, on behalf of the people, thanks him for lending us the sacred sword. In gratitude, we shall rename this lake Hoàn Kiếm to honor his contributions. May future generations remember his deeds.'
I nodded, took the sacred sword, and dove back into the water. A faint glimmer from the surface of the clear lake marked the agreement between the king and myself.
From that moment on, Tả Vọng Lake was renamed Hoàn Kiếm or the Lake of the Returned Sword. To this day, the legend of the sacred sword and Hoàn Kiếm Lake lives on, a testament to the glory of our people’s struggle.

6. Reenacting as the Golden Turtle
The Minh army, using deceit as an excuse, invaded Đại Việt with trickery and cruelty. They manipulated the heavens, lied to the people, and treated the citizens as if they were worthless. With their overwhelming power, they terrorized and oppressed, harming even the smallest creatures and defying basic human morality. This could not be allowed. I heard that in Lam Sơn, a group of rebels rose to oppose them.
The leader of these rebels was destined for greatness, but at first, their forces were weak and the enemy was strong, leading to many defeats. The Dragon King ordered me to deliver his sacred sword to the rebels, so they could present it to their leader, boost their spirits, and help them overthrow the invaders and restore justice.
I took the sword and, after some reflection, decided to act. One day, by a quiet river, I placed the sword into the fishing net of Lê Thận, a strong young fisherman with a deep love for his country. Fearing that he might be intimidated by the precious sword, I disguised it as a rusty, useless piece of metal. Twice, when Thận pulled the net, he found only the dull iron and tossed it aside in frustration. On the third try, I placed the sword again. Thận, curious, took it home, threw it into a dark corner, and forgot about it.
Later, Thận joined the Lam Sơn rebels and fought bravely on the battlefield, undeterred by danger. One day, the leader Lê Lợi and his men visited Thận’s home. In the dark hut, a light suddenly shone from one corner. Lê Lợi, intrigued, picked up the metal, which he realized was part of a sword, inscribed with the words 'Thuận Thiên.' He understood it as a sign from heaven and was overjoyed.
Though the rebels faced many struggles, including starvation and exhaustion, they fought on. One day, Lê Lợi escaped an ambush and wandered into the forest. There, he saw a mysterious light coming from the top of a tree. Upon closer inspection, he found a jeweled sword hilt. Remembering Thận’s sword blade, Lê Lợi took the hilt back to camp. He spoke to his generals:
'On my journey, I found a jeweled hilt that shone brightly. I believe it is connected to the sword blade at Thận’s home. Could this be a sign from heaven that we are destined for great things? If so, we must persevere and overcome every challenge.'
When Thận attached the sword blade to the hilt, they fit perfectly. He raised the sword and said to Lê Lợi:
'This is the will of heaven, the people's desire to entrust this great task to you. We will give our blood and lives to support you and with this sacred sword, we will repay our debt to the nation.'
From that moment, the rebels’ morale soared. With the sacred sword in his hand, Lê Lợi led them to victory after victory, striking fear into the Minh soldiers. Their continuous successes led to the eventual surrender of the invaders. The land was reunited, and the people celebrated peace.
Once the enemy had been defeated and peace restored, Lê Lợi became emperor. The Dragon King instructed me to reclaim the sacred sword. While the king and his ministers were sailing on Tả Vọng Lake, I appeared before their boat. Sensing the sword's energy, it began to tremble slightly. The king and his ministers were amazed. The king ordered the boat to slow down and I swam to the side to speak:
'Your Majesty, please return the sword to the Dragon King.'
The king immediately handed the sword to me. I took it quickly and dove into the water. From that day, the lake was renamed Hoàn Kiếm, or the Lake of the Returned Sword, to commemorate this story.

7. An Essay Roleplaying as Lê Lợi
During the period when the Minh army occupied our country, they treated the people with disdain, committing countless atrocities. In Lam Sơn, our rebel forces rose up against them, though initially weak, they suffered many defeats. Seeing this, the Dragon King decided to lend our forces his divine sword to aid in the battle.
At that time, there was a fisherman named Lê Thận in Thanh Hoá, who spent his days casting nets for a living. One night, he cast his net in a quiet spot, as usual. When he pulled it up, he thought he had caught a large fish. However, when he reached into the net, he found only a piece of metal. He threw it back into the water and cast his net elsewhere.
The second time he pulled up his net, the same piece of metal was caught. The third time, it happened again. Curious, he brought the metal closer to the fire. Suddenly, he exclaimed:
'Ha! It's a sword blade!'
Later, Thận joined the Lam Sơn rebels. Brave and intelligent, he faced danger without hesitation, and I grew very fond of him. One day, I and several soldiers visited his home. In the dark hut, a strange light suddenly glowed from a corner. I picked up the metal and discovered the words 'Thuận Thiên' engraved on the blade. However, we didn’t yet realize its significance.
One day, as we retreated from an enemy pursuit, we scattered in different directions. At an ancient banyan tree, I noticed something gleaming in the branches. Climbing up to investigate, I found an ornate sword hilt. Remembering Thận’s sword blade, I took the hilt and returned to camp. A few days later, I gathered the rebels and shared the story of the hilt. When we joined the hilt with the blade, they fit perfectly. Thận, holding the sword, said to me:
'This is heaven's will, entrusting you with this great task. We swear to give our lives for the country and, with this sacred sword, we will repay our debt to the nation.'
From that moment, the morale of the rebels soared. With the divine sword in my hand, we fought our way to victory, terrifying the enemy. Our reputation spread far and wide, and we no longer had to hide or endure hunger. We gained supplies and drove the invaders from the land. After defeating the enemy, I was crowned king.
One year later, on a beautiful morning, I sailed around Tả Vọng Lake with my entourage. At that moment, the Dragon King sent the Golden Turtle to reclaim the divine sword. As the dragon boat reached the center of the lake, a large turtle emerged from the water. I ordered the boat to slow. As I stood at the side, I saw the divine sword at my side begin to stir. The turtle, unafraid, approached the boat and spoke: 'Your Majesty, please return the sword to the Dragon King.'
I raised the sword toward the turtle. In an instant, the turtle snapped its mouth around the sword and dove back into the water. The sword and turtle vanished into the depths, but people could still see a faint glow at the bottom of the lake.
From that day, I renamed Tả Vọng Lake to Hoàn Kiếm Lake, or the Lake of the Returned Sword. The people also began calling it by its new name to honor this legend.

8. An Essay Roleplaying as Lê Lợi
I am Lê Lợi, the leader of the Lam Sơn army. Our country was in chaos, suffering under the cruel rule of the Minh invaders. Unable to stand by, I called upon those who shared the same patriotism and ideals to join the fight for independence and to restore peace and prosperity to our people.
Our army grew strong with the support of many poor laborers from different regions. However, we faced a great disparity in power and weapons compared to the Minh forces. Touched by our noble cause and understanding our dire situation, the Dragon King lent us a divine sword, which became a powerful ally and played a crucial role in our eventual victory.
Determined not to see our nation fall to the invaders or live in slavery, I rallied the people to join our cause. After spreading our message, more and more people came to fight alongside us.
In the early days, our army faced countless challenges, including frequent attacks from the Minh forces, which resulted in many brave soldiers falling. Though we mourned our losses, we could not stop this righteous struggle. One day, during a brutal ambush by the enemy, a few of us sought refuge in a small house in the forest. After we were safe, I met the owner of the house, a man named Lê Thận, and thanked him for his hospitality.
While conversing, I noticed a strange light, and upon investigating, I discovered a gleaming sword. While I had seen many good swords, this one shone with an unusual light. Upon closer inspection, I saw the inscription 'Thuận Thiên' on the blade. Curious about this sword, Lê Thận revealed that he had pulled it from the river, and shared the story of his discovery.
On another occasion, while fleeing from the Minh forces, I ran into the forest and saw a strange glow from the top of a tree. Upon climbing the tree, I found a sword hilt. Remembering the blade at Lê Thận's house, I fit the hilt and blade together, and they matched perfectly.
After our nation was liberated and the last invader was driven out, I became the king. One day, while cruising on Tả Vọng Lake with my officials, a large golden turtle appeared before us. It swam close to our boat and demanded the return of the divine sword. At that moment, I realized that this was the sword lent to me by the Dragon King, to help fulfill my mission. Now that the mission was complete, the sword was to be returned. I reverently handed the sword to the turtle, and it disappeared without a trace.

9. Essay in the role of Lê Lợi
During the time when the people of Vietnam suffered under the oppressive rule of the Minh invaders, I, Lê Lợi, led the Lam Sơn army to rise against them. At first, we were weak and many times defeated by the enemy. Seeing our struggle, the Dragon King decided to lend me a divine sword to help us defeat the invaders.
There was a fisherman named Lê Thận in Thanh Hóa. One night, while casting his net at a quiet dock, he felt a heavy pull. Thinking he had caught a big fish, he was surprised to find it was a piece of iron. He threw it back into the water and continued fishing elsewhere.
The next time he cast his net, it again felt heavy. To his surprise, the same iron object had gotten caught. He tossed it back, but on the third try, the same item was caught again. Curious, he looked closer and exclaimed, 'Ha! A sword!'
Later, Thận joined our Lam Sơn army and fought bravely on the frontlines. One day, I visited his home with my companions. In the dark room, the iron piece from before began to glow brightly from the corner. Surprised, I approached and discovered the inscription 'Thuận Thiên' on the blade, though none of us realized its true significance.
One day, while being chased by the enemy, I fled through a forest and noticed a strange light at the top of a tree. I climbed up and found a gem-encrusted sword hilt. Remembering the blade at Lê Thận's house, I grabbed the hilt and tucked it into my belt.
Three days later, I reunited with my comrades, including Thận. When we fit the sword hilt with the blade, they matched perfectly. I told them the story, and we were all overjoyed. Thận raised the sword to his head and said, 'This is a divine weapon entrusted to you for a great purpose. We pledge to follow you with our lives and this sacred sword to protect the nation.'
From that moment, the strength of our army grew. The divine sword led us to victory over the Minh forces, and soon, the Lam Sơn army's reputation spread far and wide. No longer did we hide in the forest, but we boldly sought out the enemy, and we no longer endured hunger as we had in the past, thanks to the supplies we took from the enemy. The divine sword cleared the way for us, and we drove the invaders from the land.
After a year of defeating the Minh invaders, I had become king. One day, I was boating on Tả Vọng Lake, when the Dragon King sent a golden turtle to reclaim the divine sword. As our boat drifted into the center of the lake, the turtle's head and shell emerged from the water. I ordered the boat to slow down. At that moment, I noticed the sword at my side moving. The turtle, unafraid, swam closer to the boat, rising above the water and spoke: 'Your Majesty, return the sword to the Dragon King.'
Realizing the sword's purpose had been fulfilled, I unsheathed it and, in an instant, the sword vanished as the turtle took it. As the turtle and sword disappeared beneath the water, I still saw a faint glow beneath the green lake's surface.
When my officials' boats arrived, I told them: 'The Dragon King lent us this divine sword to rid the land of the Minh invaders. Now that peace has been restored, the turtle has come to take it back.' From that day on, we referred to the lake as Hồ Gươm, or the Lake of the Returned Sword.
