Task 1: The plans below show the changes at a small theater in 2010 and 2012.
Example
The two maps delineate how a small theater changed after two years, starting in 2010. As shown in the picture, in just two years, the layout of the theater has been expanded to allow for more performance space and additional customer services, including the stage, a new hall, and a new restaurant.
To begin with, during this period, the most notable change was made to the northern side of the original theater. The stage was expanded towards there and made almost double in size, overtaking half of what was previously the media room, and a hall was added behind the far end of the theater. The media room was later moved to the left-hand side towards the north-west, and a shower room was also added to this area. Additionally, the storage room was then moved to the right-hand side towards the north-east.
In the southwest corner of the theater, immediately after the main entrance, there used to be an administrative office and a ticket booth. However, by 2012, this area had been expanded to accommodate a new restaurant and the administrative office. The café located on the right side of the theater in the southeast was transformed into the new ticket booth. Ultimately, the auditorium and main entrance remained unchanged.

Task 2: Many companies sponsor sports as a way to advertise themselves. Some people think this is good for the world of sports, while others think there are disadvantages of this. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

It is widely acknowledged that corporate sponsorship in sports as a means of promoting their brands has become a complex and multifaceted issue that affects us all. While it is true that this practice is beneficial for the sports industry, it is equally essential to consider certain drawbacks it carries.
Proponents of companies sponsoring sports contend that it can bring a number of positive aspects. They assert that the majority of sports organizations overwhelmingly depend on the financial backing from corporate entities. Training, infrastructure development, and athlete salaries are essential costs that a sports organization must cover.
Typically, sports institutions in a developing country require sponsorship from either domestic or foreign companies for their operational activities. Moreover, sponsorship results in increased visibility for athletes. When companies invest in sports, they allocate substantial resources to marketing campaigns, which frequently feature athletes endorsing their products or services. Thus, their professions and financial stability are strengthened.
Nevertheless, those arguing against corporate sponsorship in sports point out some weaknesses. One con is the possibility that sporting events will become excessively saturated with advertisements and branding. As companies support sports associations, they often, in turn, make a wide range of commercials on varied advertising platforms; for instance, social media including Facebook or TikTok, or other traditional channels like TV programs or periodicals.
If this is excessive, commercialization can compromise the integrity and sanctity of sports as the focus shifts from athletic performance to promotional activities. A further disadvantage is that sponsorship can result in partial outcomes and create conflicts of interest. Sponsoring companies may exert influence over competition outcomes or favor certain athletes, jeopardizing the integrity of the sporting event. This is unethical and undermines the spirit of genuine sportsmanship.
In conclusion, sports sponsorship has its merits and demerits. From my perspective, achieving a balanced approach is crucial. Sports organizations should thoroughly assess the potential long-term implications before making sponsorship decisions to uphold the fundamental principles and ethical standards that define the sports world.
