IELTS Writing Bài 1
Task 1: The table below describes the number of employees and factories in England and Wales from 1851 to 1901. |
Sample
The provided table illustrates data concerning the workforce and factories in England and Wales over a span of 50 years from 1851 to 1901.
In summary, the table shows a consistent decline in the total number of factory workers over the period, whereas the number of factories experienced significant growth. Additionally, male workers generally outnumbered their female counterparts, except for the year 1861.
Initially, there were approximately 500,000 employees in total with only 225 factories in 1851. Over the next decade, the number of workers decreased by nearly 200,000, while the number of factories remained steady. By 1871, the total workforce had halved, while the number of factories had tripled. Over the last 30 years, the number of factories fluctuated, peaking at 721 and stabilizing at 600 by 1901. Meanwhile, the number of workers continued to decline to just 61,000 by the end of the period.
Regarding gender distribution, the total number of female and male workers decreased gradually from approximately 288,000 and 190,000, respectively, to about 30,000 by the end of the period. However, in 1861, the number of female workers briefly exceeded that of males.
IELTS Writing Task 2
Task 2: The best way to solve the world’s environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles. To what extent do you agree or disagree? |

It has been argued that raising the price of gasoline for vehicles in general is considered as the ideal method to address global environmental issues. During the course of this essay, I would analyse this opinion objectively as well as to present feasible alternatives before coming to a rational conclusion.
It is true that an increased price for fuel, perhaps by taxations, might help in alleviating the general air pollution as well as reducing personal carbon footprint. In detail, cars and other vehicles running on fossil fuels have contributed a tremendous amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This does not only exacerbate the air quality problem in developing countries but also contributes to global warming. In case that costs of fuel are increased, people would be reluctant to use their private vehicles, which would eventually lead to a reduction in emissions. Thus, the presented solution seems to be an appropriate one to tackle the issue in the short-term.
On the other hand, increasing fuel costs would be counterproductive to a certain extent. Under the influence of a hike in petrol prices, the global economy would be detrimentally affected, especially for the group of less affluent people. As a result, concentrating on developing renewable energy would be more beneficial as these sources are less finite and pollution-free. For instance, electric vehicles are the upcoming trend, yet they are still prohibitively expensive to be a sensible alternative. When renewables are more available to an ordinary resident, the dependence of burning fossil fuels would be reduced without any punishments.
In summary, it is reasonable to affirm that despite the rise in fuel costs could aid in reducing emissions, it is far from being an optimal solution. Therefore, environmental issues would be addressed more effectively through alternatives, such as increasing investments in renewable energy.
