IELTS Speaking Part 1: Communication
Example
1. How do you typically stay in contact with your family members?
Actually, it really depends on the situation.
Precisely, I would probably spend a couple of hours enjoying dinner with my family on a daily basis if I have some down time. You know, it’s always good to see and talk to each other in person and have a whale of a time together.
However, if I am up to ears in work, I would probably skip family meals and work my fingers to the bone. I would only text them in a chat group we created for the whole family.

As far as I can recall, it was when I was in grade 5 when my school organized a competition in which we would write a letter to Santa telling him what wishes we would like to make. The one who had the most intriguing letter would be given a huge prize of money. That was also the first time I got really excited about writing a letter to someone else.

Generally, there are two main concerns that I have always taken into consideration.
First of all, because of their versatility and recreational value, we can’t help using them and managing our exposure to them.
Secondly, I am pretty worried about cell phones’ electromagnetic radiation. I am not sure whether it’s just fear mongering or not, but the topic has been raised a lot in the news and on social media.

IELTS Speaking Part 2
Describe an environmental problem.
You should mention:
- What the problem is.
- What the cause of it is.
- What the effects of the problem are.
And elaborate on possible solutions to this issue.
Example
If there were a competition for the most distressing issue, plastic pollution would be a strong contender.
Let me start the ball rolling by saying that plastic is ubiquitous and has been used intensively by humans for our own endeavors. You know, million tons of plastic are produced every year, half of which is used to create single-use items such as shopping bags, cups and straws. If discarded improperly, plastic waste can harm the environment and biodiversity.
In terms of its threats, both life on land and in the ocean would bear the brunt of this man-made disaster, yet it is more alarming for the latter. Plastic debris is currently the most abundant type of litter in the ocean and is found on the shorelines of every continent, with more plastic waste found near popular tourist destinations and densely populated areas. It would end up impacting marine ecosystems and human health due to microplastics.
Therefore, efforts should be made to adhere to and strengthen existing international legislative frameworks that address marine plastic pollution. Governments, research institutions and industries need to work collaboratively to redesign products, and rethink their use and disposal to reduce microplastic waste. Meanwhile, consumers and society must shift to more sustainable consumption patterns.
To cut the long story short, it is definitely a terrible disaster showing how much we have wronged Nature.

1. What types of pollution are significant in your country?
Honestly, there are several pollution issues that are perturbing in Vietnam.
But I guess the most prominent one would be air pollution due to the incredible number of private vehicles and little favoritism on public transports. This is worsened by the disappearance of green trees.
The second one worth mentioning would be plastic pollution which takes place here, there and everywhere.

- Here, there and everywhere (idiom): khắp mọi nơi

2. Why is government involvement necessary in environmental protection?
Frankly, there are several reasons for this.
Firstly, the government could help take measures on a large scale with the support of domestic and international organizations, which would have remarkable outcomes for the whole country.
Secondly, by legislation, the government could have absolute influence on culprits harming the environment.

Well based on my experience, it is fairly crucial to educate young people about how important a balanced environment is and what we can do to turn the table. This is because they are the ones who would make our future.
But you also have to understand that lessons are great, but action is sounder than words. The students should have extracurricular activities which involve more heuristic experience in this matter.
