The Caps Lock key on a PC or Mac keyboard changes the case of the letters you type. Press it once to type in all uppercase letters, and press it again to return to regular typing. But what about devices like Chromebooks, Android, iPhones, or iPads? These devices lack a physical "Caps Lock" key, but they offer a feature that lets you type in all capital letters. In this guide, Mytour will show you how to enable Caps Lock functionality without a dedicated Caps Lock key.
Steps
On a Chromebook

- The Search key on a Chromebook is located where the Caps Lock key is on PC and Mac keyboards.

- Click the clock icon on your Chromebook and select Settings (the gear icon).
- Scroll down and click on Keyboard under the "Device" section.
- Click the dropdown menu next to the "Search" option and select Caps Lock.
- Now, you can press the Search key to activate Caps Lock. Press it again to turn Caps Lock off.
On iPhone and iPad

- To disable Caps Lock, press the up arrow key once.

- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on General.
- Tap on Keyboard.
- If the Enable Caps Lock option is turned on (green), pressing the up arrow key twice will activate Caps Lock. If this option is off, Caps Lock won't work.
On Android

- This method works on most Android keyboards. If you've installed a different keyboard from the Play Store, the Caps Lock key may be located elsewhere.
- Press the Shift (upward arrow) key twice again to turn off Caps Lock.
Tips
- On Windows, you can adjust your settings to make the Caps Lock key emit a “beep” sound when pressed. To do this, go to Windows Settings, choose Ease of Access, click on Keyboard, and enable the "Use Toggle Keys" feature. You will now hear a beep whenever you press Caps Lock, Num Lock, or Scroll Lock.
- On the Windows on-screen keyboard, the Caps Lock key is labeled as Caps.
- If Caps Lock is not working while filling out a form on a website, it’s possible that the form does not allow uppercase input.
