Love and relationships may soon undergo a redesign, according to former Google executive Mo Gawdat.

Mo Gawdat, former business director of Google X, declares that the latest advancements in artificial intelligence could soon make sex dolls 'lifelike,' and dating websites will be flooded with AI-generated profile pictures.
Former Google R&D executive, speaking on the Impact Theory podcast, suggests that the convergence of AI, virtual reality, and augmented reality could reshape society and lead to a crucial 'redesign of love and relationships.'
When asked by host Tom Bilyeu about the short-term disruptions caused by AI, particularly in relation to sex, Gawdat notes that substitute sexual activities already exist, and people just need to use virtual reality headsets to see how realistic simulated sexual experiences have become.
Gawdat states: “Just think about all the fantasies that we currently cannot decipher,” adding that ultimately, the sensation of sex occurs in the brain, and its physical aspects are not difficult to simulate.
Former Google executive elaborates: “If we can persuade you that this sex robot is lifelike or the experience of sex in virtual reality or augmented reality headphones, then you will understand. A few more years, and think about Neuralink (brain connection) as well as other ways to directly connect to your nervous system, then why would you need someone else?”

Former CBO argues that the joy of friendship and sex is “all signals in your brain” and believes that the activity can be simulated, similar to how scientists can now “very easily” simulate muscle movements and replicate other brain signals.
Gawdat continues to dismiss the “big debate” about AI's consciousness or how people should interact with it. “What's the issue if Morgan Freeman is talking to you on the screen, whether it's Morgan Freeman or an AI-generated representation if you believe it's Morgan Freeman?”
He also notes the significant business incentives in further developing AI technology, especially in the dating industry, where apps like Replica – an AI chatbot learning to mimic users' writing styles to build relationships with them – already have around 2 million users.
“Because it generates money, what will stop the next dating app from providing you with an AI-generated avatar for dating?” Gawdat raises the question. “Many people will try it. However, he admits that he himself does not know whether such 'peculiar' advancements are better or worse.
According to CNET, a talking robot head equipped with the AI Harmony platform, sensors, and servo motors capable of moving the neck, jaw, mouth, and eyes, priced at $10,000, can be integrated into existing dolls as an upgrade.
Guile Lindroth, Director of Content and Artificial Intelligence at Realbotix AI robot company, stated: “We have plans for 15 AI layers, with each successive layer adding many advancements to the previous layer. We are currently at the fourth level.'
With a focus on developing applications and intelligent features supporting AI for RealDolls products, Realbotix has long promised to bring the Harmony app to iOS users, but doing so will require compliance with Apple's App Store review principles, which strictly prohibit 'explicit adult or sexual content.'
