In recent days, excitement has gripped every household with the inauguration of The Landmark 81 – the magnificent 'bamboo cluster' building in Saigon. A 'new face' surpassing the former tallest building in Saigon, Bitexco, Landmark 81 now possesses a more formidable 'hotness' factor than all the hot girls featured in newspapers.

All about Landmark 81 – the new master of Vietnam's sky
Discovering the 'new face' of Landmark 81
Landmark 81 is an architectural marvel within the Vinhomes Tan Cang project complex, an investment totaling $1.4 billion. Over 1000 days of construction, Landmark rises proudly amidst Saigon as a new milestone for the Vietnamese in the region. With an impressive height of 461.2 meters, it officially claims the title of 'Vietnam's tallest building' and Southeast Asia's tallest, ranking 14th among the world's tallest buildings. Promising to be an integrated commercial center within the urban area, contributing significantly to the nation's economic growth.

More uniquely, the new face captivates with an age-old symbol 'from yesterday'. Drawing strong inspiration from the traditional bamboo clumps in the epic of 'Saint Giong', Landmark's design leaves a lasting impression from the first glance. Rising boldly to pierce the sky, Landmark embodies a resilient Vietnam asserting its position and latent strength in the region.

Before Landmark, which 'powers' vied for dominance over the Vietnamese sky?
The day Landmark takes the throne will be the longest for both KaengNam Hanoi Landmark Tower and Bitexco Tower.
Bitexco Tower has become familiar to the youth of Saigon, gracefully wearing the title of 'tallest building in Saigon' for many years. The beloved project of Bitexco Group has been privileged to be among the top 20 most impressive towers in the world and has garnered the affection of friends both domestically and internationally whenever they visit Saigon.

Although its reign as the 'tallest in Vietnam' was brief (1 year before the inauguration of KaengNam Hanoi Landmark), Bitexco Tower's significance remains undeniable to the residents of Ho Chi Minh City.
The swift and forceful 'overthrow' of Bitexco was orchestrated by the South Korean investor AON. Remember the time when KaengNam Hanoi Landmark made headlines across newspapers due to its towering height reaching for the sky. Despite being repeatedly hailed as the 'tallest building in Vietnam', KaengNam Landmark is still remembered more as a source of pride for South Koreans rather than for Vietnam.

No one expected that one day, Landmark 81 would emerge, taking away both KaengNam and Bitexco's prides - the reign of height and the affection of the Vietnamese people.

Who contributed to shaping Vietnam's new face?
If Landmark 81 had been developed by a foreign investor, things might have taken a different turn. People would still be eager to check in there, but ultimately, they would regret that such a magnificent modern project wasn't built by Vietnamese hands. Landmark 81 emerges at a time when the Vietnamese people are 'thirsty' for an architectural structure that can elevate the country's stature in the region.

Behind the success of Landmark are the very proud stories of the Vietnamese people (ST photo)
The one who 'nurtured' Landmark 81 from inception is Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong – chairman of Vingroup corporation. Among the sidelines of Landmark 81, his efforts in entrusting his child to a Vietnamese contractor are always mentioned with national pride.

When Vingroup publicly tendered for Landmark 81, representatives of the Vietnamese contractor Coteccons appeared to lag behind their foreign counterparts. Lack of experience in handling projects over 60 floors along with higher bidding prices initially raised some doubts. The day Coteccons received the winning bid from Vingroup undoubtedly marked a forever change in Coteccons' future. A last-minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi to meet Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong laid the first foundation for Landmark 81's current success.

“Nowadays, it's not about profit or loss anymore, it's about the face of the Vietnamese nation” – Vingroup's chairman shares amidst overwhelming national pride. It's from this sentiment that the image of 'Vietnamese bamboo clump' was chosen as the unique design inspiration for Landmark 81.
