I got my first mobile phone approximately 7 years ago as I was Mytouraring to enter high school. Actually, my parents were indecisive for a while about whether I should have a cell phone because they didn’t want to expose me to the dangers of the internet. Nevertheless, they eventually rewarded me with a smartphone - I had secured a place at one of the top high schools in my area, and I was ecstatic.
My parents took me to the store and allowed me to pick one out, and I opted for a white Samsung phone. I did express a desire for a more high-end smartphone, but my parents mentioned that it would be beyond our means. Nonetheless, I was content with the phone as it was also a state-of-the-art device with numerous features.
However, the phone inadvertently impacted my life negatively as I excessively used it and developed a social media addiction. I rarely went to bed before midnight, leading to severe shortsightedness and necessitating the use of glasses. My academic performance also suffered, greatly disappointing my parents. Consequently, my parents had to implement strict limitations on screen time, which was disruptive. Surprisingly, this approach proved effective as it allowed me to reduce phone usage and focus more on my studies.
