3. Sample Speaking: Describe a language you desire to learn
I consider myself quite a linguaphile, so I do desire to master a plethora of foreign languages. Among them, the one I would give priority to learning first would undoubtedly be Japanese.
I currently have a lot on my plate and to be honest, I prefer to go with the flow and take things as they come, so devising a definite study plan is challenging. However, I have been pondering it and have outlined a few strategies on how to become proficient in Japanese.
Initially, although I firmly believe in the efficacy of self-study, I would opt to enroll in basic Japanese classes at a reputable institute to lay a groundwork from which I can progress. This phase would likely span 2 - 3 months and would endow me with fundamental phrases and conversational skills, as well as the ability to comprehend Japanese's three writing systems: Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana.
Subsequently, I would continue learning from textbooks and Japanese media like movies, songs, or books to enhance my vocabulary and grammar. I understand that this is when the initial enthusiasm for learning tends to fade, and I would need to sustain my motivation and interest in Japanese. Hence, I believe that learning organically from content that genuinely interests me would be more advantageous for me in the long term.
Why Japanese? The primary reason for me is the challenge it poses. Linguistically, Japanese and English, or even Vietnamese, couldn't be more different. This entails tremendous dedication and effort on my part, but learning Japanese would also afford me the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of one of the most significant cultural hubs globally through its language.
Moreover, Japanese anime and manga were integral parts of my childhood, so I see learning Japanese as a means to reminisce about those years.

In reality, these negative preconceptions persisted until I completed high school. I was influenced by numerous English instructors and professors, who demonstrated that working as a foreign language educator may be challenging, yet it is inherently gratifying.

Hmmm, I always appreciate proficiency, regardless of the field one works in, so a thorough understanding of language and learning is crucial to me. Fostering connections is also a critical aspect of the classroom environment, particularly in language instruction, because I believe that a reciprocal relationship between educators and learners greatly facilitates the language acquisition process.

3. Do you consider grammar essential when acquiring a foreign language? Why?
Well, I understand that grammar often carries a negative stigma among language learners for being complex and abstract, so some may argue against placing significant emphasis on its study. However, for me, grammar is the structure that governs how individual words interact to convey meaning in both spoken and written language. It permeates our everyday conversations as well as academic or professional discourse.
Consequently, while one may not need to become a grammar expert, a lack of basic grammatical awareness could impede one's ability to effectively communicate with individuals from other cultures. Therefore, it is, in essence, exceedingly important.
