A particular car journey that remains vivid in my memory is a road trip I embarked on with my family during the spring vacation right after the Covid pandemic. We set off on an adventurous expedition to explore the breathtaking sceneries of the central region in Vietnam.
For me, a road trip had always been a lifelong aspiration; however, none of my family members or friends possessed a driving license back then, which is why I couldn't fulfill this desire. But a few years ago, when my father purchased a brand-new SUV perfect for road trips, my entire family and I eagerly anticipated the exciting adventures ahead as soon as the pandemic restrictions were lifted.
The journey would have been dull and tiresome without great companions. I meticulously planned this one-week excursion for my dear family. It coincided with a national holiday as we intended to make the most of the days off. I also preferred to embark on the journey in pleasant weather conditions, hence springtime was chosen as an ideal period for the road trip.
Our travel plan included visits along the coastline from the northern region to the central area of my country, with the ultimate destination being Hoi An ancient town situated on Vietnam’s central coast. This magnificent World Heritage site is renowned for its charming architecture, unique ambiance blending various eras and styles, delectable local cuisine, and warm hospitality. Additionally, there's a plethora of cultural and shopping activities to indulge in, such as participating in authentic cooking classes, exploring Central market, and engaging in agricultural work in the nearby vegetable village. Whenever I felt fatigued, I would relax on the serene, palm-fringed beaches of An Bang, located not far from the old town center. Although I had visited Hoi An town several times before, experiencing it through a road trip by car was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that I could share with my family for the first time.
