During my second year of college, we had a subject named Research Practice. This subject educates us on various research methodologies and requires us to apply those methodologies practically. One of the most common research methods includes conducting surveys or questionnaires, and that's when I participated in answering a questionnaire.
The questionnaire was part of my classmate's research to ascertain the study habits of college students learning English as a second/foreign language in relation to their language proficiency. I was requested to complete the survey to assist my friend in gathering sufficient data for her study.
Admittedly, I was initially hesitant to take the survey because I feared it would be too time-consuming. I was already quite engaged with my own research at that time, and the deadlines were looming, so time was of utmost importance to me. Nevertheless, I eventually agreed to assist my friend.
I can't recall all the details of the questionnaire as it has been quite some time since we conducted it. However, to the best of my recollection, it inquired about my homework frequency, self-study duration, additional learning materials beyond our curriculum, and so forth.
It turned out to be more beneficial than I had anticipated. Although the research was merely a component of our assignment, I was able to introspect on my own study habits to some extent. Furthermore, upon completing the survey, I received valuable advice on questionnaire design from my friend to enhance my own, as hers was well-constructed. That proved to be immensely helpful.
