1.1. Do you prefer studying in the mornings or in the afternoons? 

I prefer to study in the morning, that’s when I feel the most clear-headed. I often study for about 2 to 3 hours before taking a break.

I’m a university student of Economics, currently I’m taking courses in Microeconomics, Philosophy and mandatory Physical Education.

Well yes, I like my major. I’ve always been fascinated by numbers and how societies work. Understanding the economy is crucial to understand societies.

Sometimes, the things that are taught in my classes seem to be outdated. The data that we use to do our analysis assignments are old. I’d rather study the current situation than what happened decades ago.

I use my laptop to write my essays and also take online classes, especially during this covid pandemic. It’s such a blessing in disguise as I now manage my homework entirely online and it’s much easier than it used to be.

1.6. What is your field of expertise?

I am presently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, a program that encompasses a range of subjects including marketing, economics, and business management. Given my enduring interest in mathematics, I believe I am on the correct academic path, as I am achieving a high level of success in my university studies.

1.7. What motivated your decision to pursue that major?

From a young age, I’ve harbored a persistent dream of becoming an entrepreneur, overseeing my own business. The guidance of supportive instructors and the camaraderie of dedicated classmates have significantly contributed to my academic growth. Despite encountering challenges in certain courses, the practicality of the subjects has proven immensely rewarding.

[>No] While I appreciate certain aspects of Business Administration, the field as a whole doesn’t fully capture my interest. I've come to realize my natural inclination towards creativity and imagination, which align more closely with professions like design or illustration. Looking back, I regret not pursuing a major in the arts.

1.9. Are you excited about entering the workforce?

I am fully cognizant of the competitive nature of the job market. Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly embrace challenges and am prepared to have my skills and determination put to the test. I believe that the experience of working will undoubtedly be a means to strengthen my character, allowing me to evolve into an improved version of myself. So, yes, I am genuinely eager to embark on this journey.

1.10. What influenced your decision to pursue that type of work?

The rationale behind my decision to enter this field is that it’s a flourishing profession in my country, and excelling in it can lead to substantial financial rewards, enabling me to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. To put things in perspective, being a top performer in marketing can potentially yield a monthly income of up to $6,000, nearly six times more than many other occupations.

1.11. Are you currently employed or studying?

I am presently employed as an intern at a marketing company. Given that this is an entry-level position, the workload is relatively manageable, and the compensation is modest. I’ve dedicated approximately three years to this role, and I am eagerly anticipating a forthcoming promotion.

Definitely. I am determined to advance in my career, believing there is significant room for both personal and professional growth. I foresee leaving this position only if I feel stuck in my current role.

1.13. What aspect of university life do you enjoy the most?

I find the experience of being exposed to various aspects of life to be incredibly fascinating. What I mean by this is that, unlike my time in high school, I now have more freedom and independence. This newfound autonomy allows me to interact with a diverse range of people, each with their own unique backgrounds and perspectives on life.

1.14. What don't you like about your school?

Like many educational institutions, while UEH has its strengths, there are certain areas that could use improvement. Specifically, the hygiene facilities fall short of the standards necessary to safeguard the health of the students.

IELTS Speaking part 2: Describe your favorite subject at school.

You should state:

I did study a variety of courses in school, including math, history, geography, and several different languages. I’d like to seize this opportunity to talk about biology, which is one of my all-time favorite topics during my time at school. As a result of my childhood fascination with the drawings of wild creatures in scientific books, I had a predisposition toward this subject from an early age. However, among the divisions of biology, I developed a keen interest in the section about the study of life.

All credit belongs to Mr. Minh, whose excellent teaching abilities and affable demeanor sparked our interest in the lessons. He frequently uses technology and offers us animated films to make learning much more enjoyable. As our school always emphasizes practical components as well, we also had the chance to visit the lab once a week. I will never forget the experience when, for the very first time, I saw microorganisms with the aid of a microscope.

Back then my school frequently planned field trips to locations like science city, botanical gardens, and many others to foster students’ interest about this subject. After class, I continue to dig deeper into the world of nature by watching wildlife programs on channels like Discovery or Animal Planet.

Overall, I was very fond of this subject mostly because of my teacher, Mr. Minh, who would always come up with brilliant ideas to convey the lessons. I also believe that the subject itself is very close by nature, as life is always surrounding us.

3.1. What qualities define a good student?

One should be a good student when he or she learns new things at every chance, not only what is taught in the classroom, but also what his or her surroundings teach him or her. A studious student would also ask numerous significant questions and seek their answers, which finally led him/her to the truth. Lastly, it is evident that ordinary people would evaluate a student’s performance based on the grades earned during the courses.

3.2. What responsibilities should teachers have in the classroom?

The primary responsibility of a teacher should be to assist children in their learning journey, based on the school’s curriculum. However, a good teacher should also serve as a mentor or exemplary model in the classroom so that his or her students can learn from him or her many other important lessons of life, such as the importance of discipline, punctuality, hard effort, honesty, and respect for others, and in general how to become respectable and accountable members of society.

3.3. How has education evolved in your country over the past few decades?

A noticeable change is the shift from traditional classroom tools like chalk, pencils, and whiteboards to modern technology such as computers, keyboards, projectors, and digital screens. The rapid advancement of information and mobile technology has popularized digital games and learning apps, enhancing connectivity between teachers and students like never before. 

3.4. How do children's and adults' learning methods differ?
